Almost all of them endorse such creams. Katrina Kaif, Asin etc.

Madhuri and Kajol's Olay creams aren't just anti-aging ones. They clearly mention "fairer looking skin" in each ad and also show actresses in lighter shade after application of the cream.

Years ago Madhuri had brought out a range of cosmetics in her name along with Emami. One of the creams was fairness cream only.

I feel movie stars are just an irresponsible lot who only want money. Till some years ago they'd easily endorse pan masala, guthka, cigarettes and alcohol too.

They know what impact they have on gullible masses. Still they don't bother.

Shameless endorsements of astrologers/Tarot card readers/numerologists etc. is also a matter of concern in a country that's already saddled with superstitions. Certain bigtime movie stars also visit tantriks!

The retired ones and character actors are worst as they'll endorse anything they're offered. Any oil, any stupid good luck locket or stones and crystals. Those ads run 24/7 across news and entertainment channels. Poor common man gets thugged!

Celebs make pathetic excuses when confronted with questions about their endorsements. It shows how much they bother about impact on masses. Only visibility and money matter to them.

It's based on one's perception and the society we live in. I personally do not endorse skin whitening as I feel it promotes low self esteem. And this is why I do not like celebrities endorsing such brands although they do it only for the money

I met this beautiful Pakistani girl who visited Sri Lanka and was searching for local herbal remedies to get fairer skin because her mom insists she has dark skin and that she won't get good marriage proposals. I was shocked! I mean I'm born with tan skin, which is like super dark compared to her since she's extremely fair. I felt sad and upset that society has compelled people especially girls to stoop to such level and feel insecure about themselves :(

This is just my pov and no offense intended to anybody

that's. 100 % true :( ppl in Pak won't accept if the girl is not white or fair. Even if h gave clear complexion n good skin they say u r tan n rejects. You.many of my cusions are using fair n lovely, okay white n garnier skin just to get good pripisals

can you please provide the olay ad that mentions fairer looking skin since u have it in quotes. olay regenerist is what madhuri endorses and it is not a skin whitening cream at all. its sold all over the world, not just in india and i know for a fact they do not endorse olay regenerist as a skin lightening product. where exactly are you quoting "fairer looking skin" from?
