I find it so funny at times that the west and white people are so obsessed with tanning, and us, naturally oven-baked people wit fairness. It's strange that this whole fair skin = beauty still exists in this day of age. But as people mentioned, every society and time has its challenges. I know African American are obsesed with weaves and hair products and a whole bunch of Asian people get eye widening surgeries. As a society, we have to deal with this and try to eradicate these thoughts and change comes from the top.

They should stop endorsing it b/c the term "endorsement" means this is how certain celebs "feel" about the product and want others to use it. Any kind of physical modification product (barring make up) should not be endorsed, IMO. It's like if tomorrow, celebs started endorsing botox or lipo and encouraged others to look youthful or skinny in order to live a life similair to that of a celeb. Like it just sounds ridiculous and if the celebs come together and stop endorsing then average boy/girl with self-esteem issues won't feel the need to buy these products to fit the norm and look a certain way. Honestly, celebs don't have any idea how much they impact ppl's thoughts and if they wanted they can do so much b/c India is one of the few places left in the world where movie stars are idolized and compared to the extent of Gods.

I don't get why SRK and Deepika would endorse these creams, they are dark skinned, and they are successful and confident, if anything they should promote the idea of dark and lovely, their skin complexion didn't prevent them from becoming stars.

Deepika's neutrogena advt ...listen to it carefully...it was a flop in the market bcose of the advt...ithe first fairness creme advt says sunlight se aapke khoye hue rang or t tan mitta skthe hai...(which is a correct and truthful advt tagline for all these type of cremes)...it was not a fairness creme usual advt...

One of the biggest problems I have with stars promoting fairness creams is that they don't even care enough to ensure what they're promoting is chemically safe for people to put on their faces.

Most fairness creams contain ingredients such as mercury, hydroquinol, and other chemicals which actually bleach your skin, tamper with your pigmentation, and/or strip the outer layer of your skin.

If you use fairness creams regularly throughout your life the chemicals can even cause mental imbalances. If a chemical like mercury manages to absorb into your body that is lethal for your overall health.

Yet superstars who are already rolling in heaps of money, happily endorse these creams; encouraging their legion of fans to expose their skin and body to dangerous chemicals.
