But a karwachauth is not kept to show your love for your pati. Don't the women who keep it believe that it increases their husband's life?

What you feel about Karwa Chauth and the rituals associated with it are your personal views and should remain as private opinions. No need to trivialize a custom that is revered and followed by hundreds and thousands of women in India. It's almost similar to saying "I don't need to starve myself during Ramadan to prove myself as religious".. which I believe, she would never dare to say now that she is married to Saif.

Exactly many of us might have same view as her wrt fasting/religion/rituals but it remains in our head not spewed out at a public event. 😆

Why should her views be kept private? She has freedom of speech just like everyone else. I would say the same if someone said they don't believe in Ramadan fasting. Who cares? Let people believe whatever they want to believe.

Fanatically religious people don't need to see other people's views as a personal assault on themselves. There's no need to be so insecure about your own religious views that nobody can speak against something they like because some religious people may get their poor little feelings hurt. It's ridiculous.

When people talk about how religious they are, nobody has a problem with it. When we see people like SRK mentioning Allah fifty times in an interview or even saying prayers, nobody says he should shut up and keep it to himself because non-religious people or people of other religions might get offended. It applies both ways.

Karwa Chauth doesn't just have strong religious significance for millions of hindu women, it also has sentimental value for them too!

Women don't fast to prove love for their husbands or prove any damn thing...they fast because this is a tradition that has been followed in our country, in our society, in families for centuries now.
I think Celebs should be careful when commenting on such topics...even if there is no malice behind their words or even if they are simply jesting, they should remember that every word they say gets reported and like it or not, people do get affected by them.

I see to your point. But does SRK mock atheists in that same intvw? As I said before, there's a way to put across your point. I saw that segment posted a couple of pgs back...she clearly put herself on a pedestal, while she put other women below her stature. Sure, she didn't commit a crime, she can speak whatever she feels...but I felt it was not right on her part to make that snarky comment. I'd say the same if religious fanatics bring down atheists, homosexuals etc. Just as some rules apply to religious sects, those same rules should apply to non-believers.

And let's not put the blame on Saif.
Kareena's had foot in mouth syndrome for ages. Saif actually is VERY careful about his views and how he puts them across.
This is all Kareena. Saif isnt the one who's filled her head with this. It's her inability to put forth her views in a sensitive way (I dont even think these are her views. Pretty sure she fasts for him, but whatever).

Either way, Saif isnt the scapegoat here.
