Well I find fasting for your husband's long life a very regressive tradition! It's is ludicrous that the woman should ONLY fast for her husband's long life.. what about the woman's life.. shouldn't she live a long life too?
BUT I don't agree with what kareena is saying! She could have phased and communicated her point of view better but instead she came out with W*F statements like "I am not going to fast. I am a Kapoor" lmao🤣

I've heard of it but don't know what it is exactly

karwa chauth is a hindu ritual...married women keeps fast for their husband long lives w/o food and water for that day...and unmarried womens keep fast for their would-be...or to get a good life-partner...once the moon is out they do a few prayers with their husbands...then the husbands breaks their fast by making them drink water...as for unmarried women...they look at the moon and breaks their fast after praying...
this entire thing is so judgmental!
what is so regressive about it? and I am a muslim but still I feel every religion should be dealt with some respect and I personally see nothing wrong with karwa chauth and women fasting for their husbands! how does that make it regressive?
for me a modern woman is some one who follows her heart and has enough sensibility to respect some one's belief! just stating something and terming it as regressive is an insult to all those million independent women out there who observe it to get that peace and satisfaction
seriously people and especially celebs need to weigh their words carefully!
Every comment in this post is judgmental. Everyone in the world in judgmental. Why are people so bothered or concerned about how Kareena views a particular ritual? It's her right to feel however she wants about it and express herself. Why are people so offended and insulted just because she or anyone else might see a religious function as regressive? She didn't even say anything about anyone else. She was just talking about herself.

Also she was making this comment at a BW function where stars get asked stupid, silly questions so she answered in a quick, silly way herself about how much the Kapoors love food and she doesn't want to starve herself. Is she supposed to give out a long thesis explaining her position on karwa chauth in this context? She obviously knew she was being funny by saying she's going to celebrate by eating and I bet all the reporters laughed too. She was in on the joke herself.

Here's her tone of response. Anonymous nailed it. She was being more cheeky than honest.
