LOL he just repeats what Zoya says to him without understanding it's meaning...and then him and Murari look it up in the dictionary and are shocked to know what it means...LOL that was a hilariously adorable bit.

They showed a lot of the dialogues in the promotions but that still didn't give the movie away...the dialogues are more enjoyable in the actual movie because of context.

*SPOILERS*

I didn't hear it clearly the first time but Murari tells Kundan ki "mar jaa"...awww :((

The ending hit me harder on a second watch...Sonam was outstanding in the last scene...the way she watches Kundan...and refuses to leave even after the nurses are trying to pull her away...every shade of Zoya in that moment...the tiredness, the dead eyes, the way she's stroking Kundan's face lovingly...lovely depth of emotion in that scene as Kundan's voiceover is going on...

I think you start to understand the characters more on a second watch...

It also struck me that finally Sonam got to play a character that wasn't half-baked...Anand L. Rai truly gave her a role with so much scope and then nurtured her through that role it seems...and the difference in her acting shows...she wasn't just a cosmetic showpiece in the movie...she was Kundan's object of affection but her personality was explored much beyond that too...

hi anu ..

am loving all of the discussion going on here...seriously this movie has to be watched again ...
and the last conversation scene between zoya and kundan..no words to express how good it was..sheer brilliance..

guess we need to open a discussion thread on ranjhanaa... 😆

yayyy! Happy for the team! 🥳

I came across this Sonam interview..and she talks a lot about what went wrong with her in Players/Thank You. I think it's one of her most honest interviews..

Raanjhnaa ::: ( My own Review : P_Jani )

Ok, Folks,..

Just completed watching this movie. Nice one.

It's a good one and would recommend, watching it only in the theater or in a bluray DVD qlty only, to not to spoil this good one,….. which unluckily I just did, by watching it in a VHS qlty.

First half is good,… and creates a lively climate of Banaras ki Galiyaan, temples, hindu mahotsav, Ganga-ghats,.. etc.,…. also natural going love blossom and blooming among Sonam and Dhanus,…..

Once, it's the entry of Abhay Deol,. ( after 45 min. ) the movie loses its grip,….. starts declining and sloping down,……. and it seems the director is lost in his story and some unnecessary garbage of political elections, and diverting the story-line subject to something totally unwanted zone and the spectators do not expect any such,….. and wish to continue with the original goings,…. but still the director drags into it,….. !! Uh ! What a spoil ! After the interval,……. the movie slopes down and those unnecessary political election sand related politicians garbage,…. Just annoys and diverts the movie's subject and story line into an unwanted zone,………. In last 25-30 minutes the director gets back into the story-line zone again and finally leaves the movie to its "end" with the 'quote' that ,… all the love-birds story lines does not have a positive endings, such as "merrily/marrily lived thereafter,.. !"

Movie has 2-3 dirty dialects, ( sounds even more abusive, especially when spoken to the lead female roles – unlike those 'gangster' movies, where the goons abuses each other )

And it seems that, the word ch**ya has become so common/allowable with the censor board, now-a-days,….that it's been used 4-5 times in the movie and even spoken in talk with the female roles ! Uh !

If you had seen the movie " Socha naa thaa" then you know exactly, how the movie gets a good start in first half and after interval gets into some boring unnecessary diversion, losing its grip, which audience does not desire and this movie also adds one to it.

If you had seen this Rani's song " hum toh aise hai bhaiya,… "
http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=nb9IVxjdlCs
then you know that the song holds, since it holds with it the surrounding live street climate,… and so does this movie in its first half.

I have read many's views/reviews on this movie and they all appreciate both's acting- Sonam and Dhanush a looot ,… however I beg to differ a little bit here,…

IMO,…. The director himself has woven 3-4 songs so nicely which runs in the background and it just forwards the story and the director shows tons of street-life and community of banaras streets w/ daily life and this tact of weaving is done so nicely with A R rahemaan's 3-4 tunes, keeping the stars mute/unspoken ( Just like the movie rockstar , if had seen ) and that makes the first half of movie a better watch,….. but I still have a feeling that Dhanush loses his needed physical /facial expressions in many many scenes,….just like that guy Vidyut in commando,….. but the director has played a major role of weaving the so many fun-acts of stars, keeping them mute and in silence and shows tons of short daily life sequences and thus moves the story forward, hides and covers the stars-dictations,…. and due to that skill, the movie tops,…

The role for Dhanush is made ( tailored ) of his kind,…. Means an average looking, zaahil, ganwaar die-hard madness love-bird, uneducated and especially a latur and langoor kind of small and tiny height and body structure ,…. And hence Dhanush fits the role perfectly,…... and if not him,.. then other such guys like amir khan ( TZP style ) would be the only right choice,…... but the role was not for tall and wide chest guys like Akshay aor Sanjay dutt or Jackie shroff or so,.. hence Dhanush a perfect fit, per his height, body and average ganwaar/zaaheel look,…. Role tailored for him. Though, I found him missing facial expression at many occasions. No kiss scenes for him,… ( Just like Nana patekar or Prabhu Deva )

Sonam is as usual,….. as she was in Aisha and Mausam, and sure,.. has acted well and above average.
Dhanush has also worked hard, and especially has hide it well, his S. Indian accent, while speaking the Hindi.

One new dialect that came to hear n' I particularly liked was,….
" Kanoon ke haath lambe hote hai,…… tau Muzareem ke pair bhi tau lambe hote hai !
And just wondered, how come,.. this was missing at the time of
Deewaar / DeshPremi / Faraar, fitting well with lambooji Amitabh n' Shashi !

No other,… dense sex scene / exposure/ French kisses / Rapes,……. or any such,.. just 4-5 abusing words. ( gaaliyaan ) .

Overall the movie is good, and IMO,…director could had made it lot better
if had a cap on unnecessary political election garbage extended in second half. The movie was all for Dhanush and hence Abhay Deol's entry/screen sharing was just boring, yawn-maker and annoying.

Summation: Watch it, n' in a good qlty.

Raanjhanaa Has Good Collections On Monday

Tuesday 25th June 2013 10.30 IST

Boxofficeindia.Com Trade Network

Raanjhanaa held up very well on Monday with collections of around 3.75-4 crore nett as per early estimates. The drop is just 25% from Friday and the film looks set for a good run for a few weeks.

The film on Monday has scored all over the country. The areas which under performed over the weekend like Delhi city and Punjab were the steadiest on Monday with drops of just 10-15%.

The film will do at least 32.50 crore nett for the first week and the figure could even go towards 35 crore nett if the weekdays hold up very well which is a strong possibility looking at Monday trend.
