Well there's nothing extraordinary about Sushant, he's an ordinary guy, who's not a star kid yet getting good offers :) I'm happy for him

Ranbir's debut might be a disaster...but one cant ignore his impeccable connections. The same goes for Kareena and Abhishek. One cant put people like Sushant in the same league as Ranbir, Kareena or Abhishek simply because of the neoptism in BW. The neoptism is so bad that even outsiders like Anurag Basu, SRK encourage it themselves.

And yes people like SLB, Imtiaz, Raju Hirani, Adi Chopra might be making films they want to make rather than driven by purely commercial interests lets not forget even these people need financers to back them up with the crores. And these financers are usually politicians or businessmen who put their black money in movies and they put their money only when they know they can get good returns. Hence the demand for stars. And when they cant get a star they get someone with connections so that a parent, sibling, uncle etc can back them up with their black money.

Thats why I said earlier...the progress of the other outsider recent Ayushman looks more natural. He might not be a big star but atleast he had a film which came from nowhere and worked. I would have thought Sushant's progress was as legit if he had bagged these films AFTER KPC became a hit. But with Sushant and KPC its been like "Oh Sushant the superstar is arriving in KPC lets sign him up before others do" even before they had completed the shoot for the movie. We had Rajeev Khandelwal too earlier debuting with a critically acclaimed movie. He had the critics eating out of his hand. While the director of his film Aamir moved on to bigger stars Rajeev is struggling due to lack of connections even today despite all the critical acclaim. If BW was genuinely encouraging of talent what can explain the lack of hype for Rajeev?

IMO I dont know if Sushant is sleeping around..its tough to sleep around with so many bigshots at one one. 😆But yes I am sure he has some big time politician or businessman well-wisher backing up from behind the scenes...financing his films in most likelihood. Sushant though is smarter than people like Jacky Bhagnani, Abhishek Bachchan, Tushar Kapoor etc by making all the hype seem due to his own pure talent.

But I find it hard to digest though. He did say that Ekta recommended him for KPC and auditioned for the flick

There's one speculation that I have...

btw, it's JUST something to think about, hope nobody gets hyper (haven't read the past 12 pages so not sure if someone has already mentioned this)...

Ekta Kapoor and Abhishek Kapoor are cousins

Prachi Desai got Rock On due to Ekta recommending her for the movie (read about this a while back)

Maybe...she recommended Sushant for KPC and he's getting all these other movies due to some of her connections again? Just...maybe?

That being said, I cannot wait to watch KPC. Never did I think that Preet from KDMHMD would get such a big break in Bollywood. Good for him.

@ksh...i dunt deny ranbir's star kiddy ness and his connections...but i used it to counter ur hrithik wala argument who was also a star kid and knew bigwigs like srk, karan, adi and sallu much b4 his debut...,...

i dunt deny sushant has PR/networking skills...but the last time i checked, those werent a bad thing or mutualy exclusive to talent...most of the times, ppl bag films because of the combination of talent and PR skills...

sushant seems to have good connections too...knowing ekta kapoor is definitely a plus because she is a pretty powerful name in BW right now ...i hardly doubt even the most talented actors got through without a bit of PR and some networking so i dunt really get the skeptical air abt this...so it all seems fairly legit to me...newcomers are more intelligent today and seem to get better opportunities these days...tht ram guy from telugu is doing Zanjeer (one of AB snrs best films) with an A lister like PC...sushant's rapid progress dosent seem to actually alarm me...

plus id like to disagree with the rajeev khandelwal statements...

yes rajeev khandelwal got critical acclaim for his debut...but really does he fit the conventional bollywood actor mode? i.e...song n dance, spontaneity, onscreen energy (perhaps for doing youthful or comedic roles?? hes almost 40 and looks pretty jaded compared to the rest of the new lot...so there goes the youth n freshness factor...) ...as an actor, he seems to have limited his scope to the "intense guy" zone...and TBH, his screen presence is quite dull for all the energy that a regular "mainstream actor" requires...

...with another RK (aka ranbir kapoor) eating all the attention away, debuting in the same year...its not really a surprise tht he didnt seem to get big offers after his debut...

even with prachi ... talent less , not so beautiful , Zero Screen presence ... Well known fact after Rock on ( not main lead but second or third lead ) she had Rohit Shetty 😉 and Not a single movie where she was lead or movie success was depended on her ... OUATIM ( Ajay-Emran-Kangna's movie ) , Bol Bachhan ( ajay-Rohit shetty movie ) ...

just few days back I watched Jacky bhagnani's Ajab Gajab love and i liked the movie and he was also good in it , being a son of a producer , related to Ritesh Deshmukh ( political family ) he is not getting movie offers out of his own home production

I'd like to believe that he's talented although I haven't been able to watch Kai Po Che!(And won't until April. Damn these exams. 😡)

What is making people think that there's something fishy somewhere? From whatever I've seen of him, on his shows, he seems to be quite a talented actor. It has to be his hardwork paying off. I don't smell anything fishy anywhere!

as far as I remember when Aamir came out he was 33 years old ( his Date of Birth is correct , no lie ) 😉 ... have u watched his latest Table no 21 ???? i will recommend you to watch it ...

and yah for me sushant is not a kind of guy who can do what Rajeev did in Aamir or Ayushman did in Vicky Donor or Varun-Sid did in SOTY ...😛 ...

anyways knowing Bollywood so well ( unless someone is so lucky and blessed 😕 ) Sushant's hype is short lived ... hmmm it wld be great if he cld do as many movies as Sharman joshi has done ( in those many years ofcourse )

In BW connections too if you notice there is a hierarchy. Kapoors and Bachchans are royalty. Hence Kareena got away with her brash statements at the start of her career while Abhishek got away with 17 flops. Hrithik's and VO's dads in comparison are small fries. Hence no one cared fir HR...infact Kareena and her mother created all sorts of problems for the Roshans and got themselves kicked out of KNPH so that Kareena could make her debut opposite Abhishek. VO on the other hand was never forgiven for that PC. In more recent times Mukesh's son Neil Nitin Mukesh got sidelined after some promising roles.

The last person who had good networking skills was SRK. 😆So no its not a bad thing at all. But even SRK developed his skills AFTER he had been in BW for couple of years and learnt the ropes. Sushant has surpassed even SRK as far as I can see in terms of networking. SRK also had some bad movies, bad PR and wrong moves at the start of his career till he got an entry to Yash Chopra's camp due to Darr.

IMO in terms of acting Rajeev is better than Sushant. Though on the looks part I agree with you. But still if one argues that Sushant is getting the hype due to few scenes Abhishek Kapoor showed to his BW friends before KPC's release then even Rajeev should have got some attention despite Ranbir or Imran Khan's presence in BW atleast from the critically acclaimed directors. And talking purely in terms of look Sushant isnt much of a looker himself. There are much more good looking men around in Mumbai...models, actors, TV stars etc etc.

Overall I would say if hype/more films would have come to Sushant after KPC's release I would have considered them legit offers based on his onscreen abilities/offscreen networking abilities only. But certainly not now. Hell! He is more in demand than the BO golden goose Salman.
