She was never like a Kajol, Madhuri or Sridevi or now Katrina, whose films audience flocked to watch in hordes!

I have heard this argument alot and its completely baseless. The Box Office performance of a film has NOTHING to do with the calibre of a Star. And if it does then Aishwarya truly is a star in her own right. Which other actress has survived in the industry by having flop films and not starring with the Khan? Infact, if you think about it, Aishwarya Rai was the "most" popular between years 2004-present. And in these 9 years she has not done any movies with the so called royalty with Bollywood.

Also, Aishwarya Rai has more than 3 successful films. I would not want to go through her entire filmography because that requires a lot of time. But your def wrong there. Please do your research before throwing out such strong baseless statements.

I do admit that Aishwarya Rai did have a string of unsuccessful films. But thats the beauty of it.

The fact that she is so phenomenally popular (still) just proves that she is beyond hit/flop movies. Name one other actress who has retained her stardom after giving back to back flops.

And the same people who so called "reigned" over Ash. Where are they now? Where is Preity? Where is Rani? She had to "ask" aamir to be put in Talash, the same Rani that was apparently a queen right? 😆 They have no movie offers, yet theres a line outside of Ash's house with directors dying to work with her.

In terms of stardom and popularity...Aishwarya is beyond Kajol, Katrina, Madhuri and Sridevi. Im not talking about acting. But she's the most popular actress in Bollywood. She wasnt on Times Magazines most influential list for no reason. A list that contains the names of people like Lady Gaga, and Obama. She's taken Bollywood culturally to a whole new level. I will give her that much.

I point out about movies. Her popularity is not dependent on movies. Neither did she carry any movie on her shoulders (that became hit due to her) except HDDCS, Taal.

So why make a big deal of her end or some reign or signing/not signing movies when neither she depends on movies nor movies depend on her?

As a popular celeb, I already acknowledged several times in past (on topic similar to these) that she's always been there and will be there - movies or no movies.

Well I personally believe that all movies are successful because of the combination of many things. Not just one particular person. She has been a part of many succcesful films and of course she has everything to do with it. Just as much responsibliy goes with bad films too.

Some of the people you mentioned havent exactly carried any movies on their own. What movie did Rani carry on her own? She always had SRK, Aamir or Salman there with her or Amitabh in Black. What movie did Preity carry? Or Kajol? They have always starred with huge male stars and thats why their movies worked. I dont remember them doign solo movies that have worked big.

At least Ash has Bride and Prejudice, which was a flop in India, but worldwide it made double-profit. A budget of 7 million and the film earned well more than 20 million. IMO THAT is called carrying a film. Even if the film sucked, it was still succcesful because of her!

I will even credit for the success of Robot, Ash is huge down south. She even won Best actress for Jeans many years ago there. Even that was successful film.

Even in Dhoom-2, she played a huge role in the success of the film. It was the jodi of Hrithik-Ash and ofcourse her hot look that added appeal to the movie. It wasnt just Hrithik's show. Same with Jodha-Akbar. If it was "only" about Hrithik, then why does he have some unsuccessful films?

I completely agree Aishwaryas legacy is mostly about the whole cross over thing . She has few hits and best access award compared to others . Of purse her crossover success is a lot . But in terms of all time she is quite behind Kajol Mahduri and I would even say Vidya and Bebo in hit flop ratio

Well Pretty soon Asin will have more hits than Aishwarya too but, that doesnt really mean anything 😕

Katrina probably has more hits than Ash but...she is not even half as famous as her.

A lot of these so called hit movies, are hits because of the male stars in them. With the exception of Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, Kat doesnt have any so called "solo" succcesses.

Ash could go work with Srk-Salman-Aamir all the time and have a million hits but she chose a different route which right now years later looks like the smart thing to do as Preity-Rani are washouts.

As an actor she is just average with good looks. Seen even better looking then her.

She is no Sridevi or Madhuri when it comes to complete package.

So she can do other things just don't do movies.
