Ranbir's a good actor, but at times his script sense is seriously on the "what were you thinking lines?"

No!! SRK was the best thing about the movie, i feel. Ranbir is great .. But SRK still is the very best when it comes to doing romantic roles.

The movie script is horrible and no the other option you gave is just as horrible. i think the movie with a good script and better cast like Salman or Aamir and you cant say these two dont know about romance as both started their careers with romantic movies. i d rather see Salman with katrina and Anushka in this movie but with a better script. other option Aamir with Preity and supporting role Any heroine.

i dont think ranbir wud have been able to pull off major samar anand the was srk did. the younger portion maybe, but thats a given bc srk was playing a character half his age but the army part of the movie, srk totally shines in.

I'm glad someone else thought about this possibility too. I haven't watched JTHJ, but going by the comments in IF, it doesn't sound like the script was anywhere close to great.

And don't forget that Ranbir is one of the smart ones, he can smell a good script/story like a hound! His choices of films has been impeccable (barring APKGK).
