with all due respect i think comparisons with fashion are totally inappropriate. It released four years back, what was 27 crores net in 2008 might equal 60 above in todays time due to heavy amount of inflation in india with in four years!

Kareena's Heroine falls sharply in collection at Box Office in week 2

Kareena Kapoor's latest release Heroine, which had collected Rs 37.1 crores in the first week, has shown a steep fall in collection at the Indian Box Office in the second week. The movie has added just Rs 6.32 crores nett to its 14-day total Rs 43.32 crores nett. Its business was severely affected by new release OMG Oh My God and old release Barfi.

Heroine was expected to keep the bells ringing at the Box Office in second week and surpass Rs 50 crore mark at the domestic collection centres. Firstly, it lost out several screens to new releases like OMG Oh My God and Kamaal Dhamaal Malamaal. Secondly, its business was crushed by Barfi.

The result was Heroine fell sharply with the movie adding Rs 3.5 cr nett in the weekend 2 to its 10-day total to Rs 40.6 crores nett. The film saw further dip in its business on weekdays and added Rs 2.87 crores to its 14-day total Rs 43.32 crores nett. The breakup of its second week collection is Rs 1 cr on Fri, Rs 1.25 cr on Sat, Rs 1.25 cr on Sun, Rs 75 lakhs on Mon, Rs 1 cr on Tue, 62 lakhs on Wed and Rs 50 lakhs on Thu.

However, OMG Oh My God and Barfi are expected to continue to affect Heroine collection in the third week. Besides, another much-hyped movie English Vinglish starring Sridevi in lead has released in theatres today. Trade experts feel that it will surely send down the business of Heroine further and it may not allow the Kareena Kapoor starrer to cross Rs 50 crore mark in the third week too.

Though I loved Kareena's performance in the film and didn't find the film that bad, the box office ratings just proves that Kareena really doesn;t have that much of star power without Salman/Shahrukh/Aamir Khan. And its not just Heroine, EMAET and Agent Vinod haven't been hits too this year. But hope this doesn't make Kareena sign those rubbish movies again.I think 10 years in the industry, she has achieved a lot, let her forget about star power and do roles like Mahi Arora.

Fashion released 4 years ago. How can they even be compared? Also Fashion was not even a solo release. Golmaal Returns released on the same day! What it did was really commendable in those circumstances, unlike Heroine.

quite laughable that people are comparing heroine with kahaani be the story the plot or performances even if both films have nothing in common..but they found comparisons with fashion inappropriate which draws almost the same line with heroine...😆 I-F never disappoints me in giving mad fun 😆

The films were compared on basis of Box Office... Kahaani and Heroine were released in very same year and BOx Office comparisons can be done
But not with Fashion because its 4 years old film and comparison is inappropriate because of inflation

comparisons with fashion is being called inappropriate based on box office numbers. 4 years adds hell lot of inflation. What was 27 crores then is more than 60 now. I dont think its inappropriate!

As for the the plot or performance, PC in fashion VS bebo in heroine makes total sense, no one is denying that i guess!

New Releases Poor OMG! Oh My God Excellent Barfi! Closing In On 100 Crore

Saturday 5th October 2012 09.00 IST

Boxofficeindia.Com Trade Network

English Vinglish had a poor start of 20% though was better in the evening at premium multiplexes mainly the DT, PVR and Inox chains. The collections in smaller cities were awful. The film will pick up as reports are much better than the collections but it will have to be huge jumps to get a respectable weekend as starting point is so low.

Kismet Love Paisa Dill was also poor at 10% and has little chance of box office. The film did open a bit better in UP single screens but collections came down as the day went along.

OMG! Oh My God had a very good first week of around 35.50 crore nett and the second week has started very strongly. The film is set to dominate the box office for another week and heading for 60 crore nett plus business.

Kamaal Dhamaal Malamaal had a poor first week collecting around 7 crore nett. Despite no appreciation it also got benefit of holiday and collected 70-80 lakhs more than it would have on a normal week. FLOP

Heroine fell heavily in the second week as it collected around 3 crore nett taking it to 33 crore nettin two weeks. The film is unlikely to hit the 35 crore nett mark but was saved by a good start. BELOW AVERAGE

Barfi has sustained extremely well and collected around 15.75 crore nett in its third week taking its three week total to around 97 crore nett. The film will hit 100 crore in its fourth week and it could even be by Sunday. SUPER HIT

----PS: I have no idea if it was posted before, so if it was my bad. 😳
