Don't get your hopes up high. The Anurag project will never happen. I've been disappointed already enough time to not get invested anymore. He's had roles offered over time from everybody including Hirani, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Ram Gopal Varma, Vishal Bhardwaj, Shankar, etc. You hear news for a while and then SRK has some fallout with them or rejects the scrips or gets into some issue or other. It never works out.

It's always the same cycle of Chopra, Johar, Farah Khan, and one random masala director like Rohit Shetty or Anubhav Sinha.

I always get hopeful when I see an interview of his because he sounds so intelligent, mature, and reasonable. He talks a great game about what kind of movies he wants to do and how much he doesn't care about the box office, etc. It never ever reflects in his movie choices though.

Swades is my fav Indian movie till date. For me it's SRK's best performance and I really don't care the BO output of it cuz the movie was worth watching. But I guess nobody cares about selected viewers like myself since majority's view is taken for measurements *sigh*

You know, the thing is, when you go hunting for a blockbuster, you're only going to get up to a certain point. You're manufacturing a big hit when you do that. Put in x amount of action, throw in 6 songs, an item number with a guest star who will shake her ass, designer clothes, let's add in views of a city skyline like NY or London or whatever... It's so cynical and fake. You know you can pull in enough audience to get a hit status and make money. But it's never going to be a breakthrough film. It's never going to be a DDLJ or a Sholay - something that's completely pathbreaking and beloved and special.

Those kind of films can never just be manufactured off an assembly line. They need to be made from the heart without worries of box office and making sure the required number of item numbers and action scenes and kicks and punches and shirtless scenes are there. Those kind of blockbusters just HAPPEN because it's meant to be and because it's a terrific movie.

SRK seems to have forgotten this. Aim to make a really good movie and the success will follow eventually. Don't just throw formulaic hits at the audience because nobody will care about them 3 weeks after they release, forget about 3 years or 30 years.

And now we are left with Farah Khan and Rohit Shetty though I strictly dont mind Rohit Shetty as Rohit doesnt belong to SRK's coterie.

People make fun of SRK's crappy films...but the truth is he started his career with hatke films which helped him establish himself and he was seen as an experimental actor like Ranbir is seen today. But after DDLJ he simply stopped taking risks and has stuck to his comfort zone since.

I don't even want to think about all the awesoem movies SRK"s been offered and how they've never worked out because of whatever reason.

This is SO true! He sounds so sane and sensible in some interviews when he talks about the movies he wants to do, what plans he has for the future, thoughts on cinema...It gives me so much hope that he has a GOOD head on his shoulders...but then the movies he ends up doing are just so...opposite of what he says. Its like RANBIR is doing what SRK says he wants to do, and SRK is doing god knows what. He has stuck himself in a rut with the same old same old.

He started out right like someone once said. He wanted to act, he wanted to do quality films...and he also wanted to be no.1, he wanted to be famous and loved. But when he got the fame and love, he got too drawn to it and well..quality took a backseat. It comes up here and there...but it's not enough. Now the pressure to climb back to no.1 makes him chase success the wrong way =/ What a pity...he actually has the talent...he has so much passion for cinema also, for what he does (more than his contemporaries I'd say)...but just not the correct method...

I don't think SRK has forgotten anything, it's just that he's too blindly committed to his friends that he doesn't know how to say NO to them. I'm sure he knows by now that nobody is his friend but still prefers doing favours to them rather than doing what he likes to do. During Don 2 promotions he stated that he prefers doing bad guy stuff like Darr or Anjaam but he contradicts himself and does something else thereafter

Man I'm ranting like a mad dog whereas SRK's least bothered 😆

Guys ,he z doing some 'a for apple' film next year ..his old friend (outsider)'s project ..which z a completely different and interesting film (acc 2 SRK) ...

If he cares so much abt BO ,he shud not hav done movies like MNIK,Ra1 or even Don2 .It was not 4 desi audience still did well @ BO though.

and he can neva say NO 2 Yash ji ..regarding HNY n CE .he needs bucks for Ra1 sequel/mahabharat or something .n Trades r already started predicting that CE wud cross 200cr. 😆
