Art films - Most Boring - Page 5

Why only art films? I couldntb figure out the big deal about some commericial films too. For instance BBB. That was so boring. And so was Kaminey. I want the hours of my life I wasted on that film back.

SKM did not fail because it was an art film, it failed because it was a terribly executed film. When art films are awful the genre itself cannot be the singular cause. There are wonderful art films that pull you in, keep you entertained and still show you something different. Pure art cinema is a vehicle for film makers to play with their own art, but a good filmmaker will still be able to maintain a certain level of watchability. Entertainment can come in different forms, no point generalizing.

Some movies are shit, some movies are great, very rarely is the genre what 'makes or breaks' a film.

There is no such thing as an 'ART MOVIE'...when the producer/director think that their movie ainn't gonna work...they call it an Art movie😆

Art pictures have an essence of life that's lacked in the commercial movies. Parallel Cinema or Art Cinema is focused on the "art" of projecting the issue, instead of attracting the audience toward the actors or the elements.

That is the main difference. For example, both Munni Badnaam Hui and In Aakhon Ki Masti are woman-oriented, power-packed songs, with the true essence of Bollywood attached to it. However, to the viewers eye, both have a totally different perception. In the former, lust is portrayed through skimpy clothing, prominent cleavage, and sleazy moves. There's cleavage in In Aankhon Ki Masti also, but the scenarios are totally different.

One portrays promiscuity in the name of art, whereas the other elaborates art through passion; although both talk 'bout attracting men!

I have watched Umrao Jaan several times, and I must confess, it is pure magic! Movies like Mughal-E-Azam, Umrao Jaan, and Pakeezah are a reflection of a writer through the lens of a director's camera! They are both complementary to each other.

Not sure how one defines art house & commercial, is it the budget, actors, story, theme or a combination of all these factors. Agree with the poster who said there's only good films & bad films but that again is subjective.

You guys!!! Where did you people watch Art films? Most of the movies mentioned here have SOME Bollywood connection... either with director or mostly actors. These few films are the one's that get some amount of WOM thanks to the Bollywood link.

Like how some mainstream films suck, some art films suck too. So just because they are tagged 'Art' doesn't make them 'intelligent' cinema. There are certain art films with no purpose or sense of direction just like mainstream slapstick comedies or action films.I can put Udaan/ Omkara wayyy up certain other art films. Since Art films mostly deal with social subjects and are comparatively slow to our Bollywood 'entertainers' (also minus the mass appeal) they are made for audience who like that kind of film-making.

Most of you guys live abroad so you might not know... but the art films you guys are familiar with are not 10% of what are made. You've to see Lok Sabha channel to catch some... probably the only channel which actually airs Art films (not quasi-art films). Most of these go to Film festivals and are enjoyed by the 'select few' sensibilities they are made for. Atleast there are people catering to the minority and not making them forcefully accept what majority 'enjoys'. So what's the harm?
