I think I know this case. Read it on a blog by this girl's relative. Have to check.

I'm going to turn a blind eye to his holier-than-thou promotional antics, might catch it on youtube. The truth is awareness needs glamor and fame. It'll get more attention when popular names bring such issues to light.

ditto!!! for example, Kony 2012, and Brad Pitt and his crew doing a Gay rights play.

Female foeticide is a serious problem all across the country, barring a few places here and there. The basic reason is that it is ingrained in the minds of the families all across that a male child would be heir apparent to the family and carry the name and existence of the family forward, while the female child will grow up, get married and move to another family - and from then onwards she would be associated with her husband's family only. This survival instinct (a lame one at that) is basically the reason for the gender divide.
Also, most families believe that a girl child would have to be reared and kept safe and then given a handsome dowry to get married into a good, respectable (?) family - while the son brings in dowry in the family.
However, societies need to change as per the times. Nowadays, any daughter is as good as a son and they don't need to prove themselves to be equivalent to the male child in the household. But this is happening at a very slow rate and scale, while the horrifying news of female foeticide and child molestation and killing is on the rise. And this is just the proverbial tip of the iceberg.
Glad to know that the show will be grounded on such harsh realities of life - wanted to watch it, but had to give ti a miss due to some cable issues. However, as some mentioned, there should be no place of melodrama in such a well-conceived show. Crime Patrol is really good in this essence and it's a welcome change that people are opening themselves up to these shows, rather than the usual sagas.

I haven't seen it yet. I am looking forward to and that is the same they do in Crime Patrol. I am glad such shows are coming up now. It was needed. Crime in India is rising too fast and too high. And people still act so careless but hopefully, such shows help in bringing about the needed awareness.

Yes it did have a Crime Patrol kind of vibe but it was more like Oprah Winfrey show. But overall it wasnt preachy. It had a few nice touches like the situations of the bachelor boys of a village in Haryana. Everyone should give it a try. Though some people on twitter have dissed it..many eminent personalities without exception have praised the effort.
PS: Aamir looked terrible though...his face looked ravaged.

Something gone wrong on whatever treatment he did before the show. I am surprised no one commented on this. 😆

I posted this on another topic and will do the same here..

I was waiting for this show for the longest time and I am not disappointed by it. The show started with a melancholy feeling and somber monologue by Aamir discussing the issues that prevails in India.

The topic itself female foeticide is not a new thing to me. I loved how the show was not preachy but it gave you the facts and showed the research behind it. It dwelled into the preconceived notion of how only poor and lower class families acts like that and how it is act of "illiteracy." I also love the little anecdote by the victims and their supporters and how they have evolved in their struggle. Kudos to the district officer, the journalist and the unsung heroes who through their actions try to bring the smallest change as possible.

Sundays will never be the same and I love how the show had brought every family into their living room and have a discussion about it. Although I don't know if the show can bring some changes but I believe it will make people to think and discuss about their actions. I am awaiting for the next episode...

PS: O re chiraya song made me teary eyed and its beautiful lyrics brought a lump in my throat...
