The curious case of Shahid Kapoor and Vidya Balan.

I remember Kismat Konnection and how Vidya was completley ripped apart for her weight and dress sense (won't lie, that film was a mega fashion disaster) and Shahid Kapoor was riding high after the success of Jab We Met and Vivah from the year before. She was dubbed the older looking heroine who couldn't do breezy love stories and was seen as a fail next to Shahid's 'chocolate boy charm'. Not to mention they dated during the film, and he proceeded to promptly dump her based on the EXACT same reasons she was criticized in the film for (weight, age, overall look) .

And now look 4 years later Vidya is a top heroine with critical acclaim and box office success in her pocket. Shahid on the other hand is the industries joke - Nobody will date him, barely anyone will sign him, and nobody is his friend. Poster boy of 'being dumped' and 'flop cinema'.

Vidya must be laughing it up, oh how things do change.

With all due respect here wasn't Vidya already ridding on the success of Parineeta , Lage Raho Munna Bhai and Bhool Bhulaiyaa even Heyy Babyy was more commercially successfully than any of Shahid Kapoor films.

The Dirty Picture, Lage Raho Munna Bhai and Bhool Bhulaiyaa are all commercial Blockbusters.

She wasnt a flop actress or anything, but neither MB or BB were "her films". She was considered a good actress but she didn't have the status she has today which only came after paa, ishiqya, NOKJ and tdp. Parineeta I'd say is entirely vidyas film - she was mesmerizing in it, but during KK id say most of the attention was on shahid

Yeah! even Vidya said it herself recently that she never had Back to Back flops, she was only criticized and getting slap in the face for what she was doing.

But still she's lucky most of her films didn't boomed at the B.O.

I love Jimmy Shergill been watching a few Punjabi films on YouTube and he has been doing some really really good films. Loved him in Munde UK De.

Why not compare Dharmendra with Amitabh? When Big B first started all of his films were flopping like hot cakes while Dharmendra was the biggest superstar then. Big B sucked so much as a star the fact is no Heroine were willing to work with him every single one of them Back out of his flick Zanjeer. His wife had to step into the role and look now? Big became a bigger star than him and is still well know in the industry today while Dharmendra is forgetting.
