Verve's 10th Anniversary celebration at the Regal Room, Hilton Towers saw a variety of celebs showing up.

Ones noticed were Sunil Shetty with Mana Shetty, Dino Morea, Karan Johar, Kirron Kher, Nita Ambani, Ashutosh Gowariker with wife, Liz Hurley with Arun Nayyar, and badman Gulshan Grover.

Mr Shetty was grumpy all evening (nothing new). All the other guests smiled and cavorted for the camera, except maybe Arun Nayyar, who looked quite conscious that the leggy Liz was getting all the attention. Live with it, dude.

When Ghulam Ali came calling...

Ghulam Ali and Sudesh Bhosale at the latter's home

Pakistani ghazal maestro Ghulam Ali is apparently quite fond of Sudesh Bhosale's singing. On his recent visit to Mumbai, he visited Bhosale's home.

"It was a great honour when he called me and said he is coming home," says Bhosale who has recently opened a new recording studio.

"Ghulam Ali ji also insisted on seeing my studio and to my surprise he recorded a few lines there," adds Bhosale, whose son is also an aspiring singer and is currently learning classical music.

"I was in seventh heaven when Gulam Ali ji said that he would want to hear my son. He was quite impressed by his singing," says Bhosale.

The Thackerays at foodie awards

The Savvy Cookbook F&B Awards went underway at Blue Sea, Worli Sea Face.

Uddhav Thackeray was the chief guest for the evening, turned up with wife and son for the event.

He looked quite pleased to present the awards to the best restaurants in town.

Suchitra throws her paint around

Suchitra Krishnamoorthi has been devoting considerable amount of time poring over canvasses armed with brush and colour palette. The actress, who has taken to painting for her creative satisfaction, earned a few bouquets at her first solo exhibition.

And now she's gearing up for her next show. The painting to go on display is a composition, titled Family On The Beach.

Ever since Suchitra came back from her trip to Ischia in Italy, along with daughter Kaveri and hubby Shekhar Kapoor, she had wanted to recreate a scene that has a family of three walking into the sunset down a beach.

After much location hunting, Shekhar Kapoor had planned the hols in Ischia. Suchitra might disagree, but we will surely acknowledge Kapoor as his wife's muse.

Kyunki's Nandini, Gauri Pradhan, will also be seen in the Sony daily Kaisa Ye Pyar Hai.

As Kanan, her character will be Angad's (Iqbal Khan) neighbour — she lives near his real mother's house. Kannan is slated to play a major role in the love story of Angad and Kripa (Neha Bamb).

Don't be surprised if you find Kanan turning the Angad-Kripa love saga into a triangle. Uffff… kaisa yeh pyar hai!

Well, look at his track record from Masti onwards Kyaa Kool Hai Hum, Bluffmaster!, and now the biggest surprise — Malamaal Weekly. Just coincidence? We think not.

Karunya gets a mouthful of curd

Indian Idol 2 finalist Karunya just can't stop blushing. While performing live, a woman came on stage, especially to feed him curd as a symbol of good luck and best wishes! He was completely taken aback.

On the show, when he rendered an A R Rahman track, judge Farah Khan said, "If A R Rahman would have been here, he would have instantly signed Karunya for his next movie."

And the Hyderabad boy just couldn't stop blushing again. Now we wonder how Karunya will react if he wins the Idol title.
