She has gone pretty far in BW that I can't deny. Certainly I am not part of the 49% since I actually avoid movies she's in unless its a multistarrer--which means I have to watch her on screen less. 😆

But I do think she's very smart. All the actors, besides Neil, she's worked with are currently doing well at the BO. Let's take New York for example: John had just had Dostana..there was hype around him. Plus New York was one of the first releases after the huge strike in BW where no movie released for 2-3 months. People wanted to watch movies and here was one with fairly liked people + YRF + good music = good combination for a hit.

Salman--they did Yuvraaj and it flopped..she pretty much avoided working with him until now when he's on such a high.

Ranbir was the new big thing in BW + he had his hit in BAH when they did Ajab. Akshay was on a high..Namastey London was their first big hit together. After this movie, people went to watch their jodi. Imran had IHLS to strenghten his BO standing.

I do agree with Mystic..she's not the only reason a movie worked. But I do think she plays her cards right and is an important contributing factor in the success.

Calling Ranbir Kapoor a BIG STAR before AJAB will be WRONG

1. Saawariya = FLOP

2. Bachna ae Haseeno = Semi Hit

3. Wake Up Sid = Above Average

Katrina Kaif was coming with HIT movies Sngh is Kingg and New York...

So i would say it was KATRINA MAGIC which made AJAB PREM KI GHAzAB KAHANI = SUPER HIT

Ranbir's 1st HIT n 1st SUPERHIT... HYPE was coz of KATY's YOUNG COOL LOOK... and pairing with Ranbir...

see...films which are considered "blockbuster material" are always male centric...

male bonding

guy saving the world

guy taking revenge

guy/guys getting stuck in an uncomfortable situation (for comedy films)

guy falling in love and winning back the love of the girl/her family/her puppy whtever...

blocubusters are mostly testosterone charged...thts just the way the world is..

this is the comment which i wanted to say why people say tht hollywood is better than bollywood becoz women can give solo hits there..charlie;s angels, salt lara croft are just examples

HOLLYWOOD is not better if Charlie Angeles, Salt, Lara Croft are Big Hits, all these movies have ENUFF EYE CANDIES, Cleavage Shows, Hot Material 2 make it big HIT...

In this way we have "RANGEELA"... was SUPERHIT coz of Urmila's Sexiest Avatar...

BOLLYWOOD has always given Women Orriented movies, in better way than HOLLYWOOD...

Chandni Bar, Fashion, Mirch Masala, Anjali, Shakti - The Power, NOKJ, Fiza ... to name a Few which are BETTER in QUALITY than Sexy Sleazy Women Centric HOLLY MOVIES...

..we cant really blame any group for the world being male centric..

girls can relate to, identify with action films/male bonding films...and "guy" films like transformers, x men, delhi belly etc..

But guys cannot relate to girly films, or women's issues...most guys dunt like watching chick flicks, they cant watch a chandni bar or shakti and identify with it...they may appreciate it...but certainly not connect with it..

and in that process, chick flicks and women centric films lose out on a major chunk of the audience - namely males..and so, dunt have enough ppl to make the film a blockbuster...they maybe an odd hit/superhit somewhere...but nothing ATBB type...

A Film is a Team Effort...1 can't deny the role of Heroines in all ATBB's...

If Srk won't have Romanced Simran - kajol... it won't be completeing 750 weeks in theatre...

If Aamir won't be taking Revenge of Kalpana - Asin... It won't be overshadowing all films...2 became Smash HIT ATBB...

If Salman won't be Romancing Nisha - Madhuri ... it won't be the Most Successful Family Entertainer of the Decade...

I think we should give Equal Credit of Film's Success to it's heroine also...

by that logic, salman wasn't a big star between 2000 - 2009, because his films didn't exactly set the box office alight during this period.
