I am surprised that people are contributing the success of New York to John.. Really? YRF, Priyanka in gold bikini, Miami beaches and John couldn't make Dostana even a semi-hit (it was just Average acc. to BOI). John's last (and probably only) hit was Dhoom way back in 2004. To say that John was a hot-and-happening star, fressh out of the success of Dostana, who brought in the crowds to New York is laughable. And, the less said about Neil the better.
Akshay has been acting with every actress and their grandma in the last few years.. Anushka, Ayesha, Lara, Sonam, Aishwarya, Trisha, .. how come his star power doesn't manage even a decent opening with these actresses? His star power is Active only in presence of Kat?
However much we might speculate about Ranbir's star-appeal, charishma, acting power.. the blunt fact still remains that his only 2 hits are with Katrina. If he was that strong at appealing to the public, he would have made his other movies hits also. Let's see how Rockstar and Barfee fares.. we will know by then.
And lastly.. which heroine's solo movie has become a hit at the box-office in recent times? LCMD, Chameli, Shakti-The Power, Page 3, Chalo Delhi, WYR. Fashion. Aaja Naachle, Umraao Jaan (thinking, thinking...)
