when she came into the industry, tan make-up was so in vogue then. even the fairest girl of B-Town used to wear tan make-ups & brown lipsticks.

now, the trend has changed. pinkish white make-up & complexion is in fashion nowadays. the 'KAYA'd girls of our colleges is exemplifying the current trend.

so, it's all about trend.😊

While I do think that industry is not kind to very dark girls as top actresses (like Mindy Kaling dark), I don't think PC's skin color hurt her

The more"dusky" actresses still end up having their faces lightened in the movies and in the ads....I used to think Deepika was really fair😆

The whole "jealousy" thing is a simple assessment but I think there may be more to it than that.

Maybe women & girls look for something in a top performer than men don't---assuming the women aren't lesbians.

And there is something very troubling when you realize that your society has been so brainwashed to see the vast majority of its own women as inferior that it is willing and eager to give the best/highest/supreme life choices to someone whose main selling point is that she is from a different race and it shows.

Admit it aloud or not the warning bells should start to ring when you notice that the best women with the best chances in life in INDIA are women who can show, in their face or form that they are NOT Indian.

So now who becomes the next breed of colonists? What womens' children get the best schools, the superstar guys, the Birkin bags and the best houses? The women who are half Russian/Englis/German or some other white mixture.

In other words a new white elite is born, and it is again---built upon European blood. If no one complains or even points out what is happening and everyone pretends that a freaking tube of Fair & Lovely can make them look like a 5'9" inch girl with the blood of tall blonds in her veins you're only making fools of yourselves.

Back in the '70s in America we complained and pointed out that if the only good looking black or hispanic woman was the one who could pass for German that wasn't helping at ALL. We realized we were being sold a bill of goods and that as long as women who looked like Grace Kelly were the only ones shown as worthy of being princesss, they would be the only ones princes could imagine marrying!

Hopefully Indian women WILL start complaining. It's not Kat's fault at all, but Kat's fame is a symptom of decades of ingrained self loathing. Self loathing which is only perpetuated by not questioning and getting angry when someone points it out. Head in the sand pretending that what half European girls are is available to anyone with the right beauty supplies won't help you at all. You can stick your head in a vat of flour and wear 4 inch heels til you're crippled but you won't and you CAN'T be a half white woman unless you are born to some other parents.
