Guess that someone will be wrong. Maybe you should read the preceding posts where they were talking about siblings of famous star-kids like Tanisha and I tagged on Shamita as another example of a failed sibling of a famous star-kid. Honestly though, is this post of such monumental import in your mind that you have to resort to unfounded snark about who is a sister or daughter?

No it was Bekhudi. Rahul Rawail launched her...it was quite big. But it was a huge DUD! The music of the movie was fabulous though...but I watched Bekhudi 50 times (for some off reason I loved that movie LOL!) and became a blind Kajol fan! 😆

And if you are a talented outsider, like the late Divya Bharati, you can knock the socks off anyone! Amazing she was! But again she didn't make it all on her own...she hooked up with a producer....but she was talented enough to get people's attention so nobody cared how she entered BW and got work!

Honestly this is the first time this issue has been brought up in a while.

The whole "is it their fault they are lucky?" is a strawman argument. Anyone would be a fool to turn down a huge film as a debut when they get it so easily.I am not saying that they work less hard than outsiders or don't want it as much.

My only issue is with people like Abhishek Bachchan crying foul over being judged against what his father has achieved. Because a) it doesn't really happen (people went gaga over his performance in Yuva and Sarkar Raj not because he was able to surmount some major obstacle set by his father's image, but just that he was good and he wasn't even decent in most of his films before that), and b) even if they are compared what is the big deal?

If that's the case, than only bash Abhishek and don't generalize. I never heard Kareena Kapoor or Saif or Aamir or Hrithik or Sonam or Ranbir say how they hate being compared to their parents and poor them, please pity them that they have to live up to such huge names. They always said how it's a honor to be compared to their parents/grandparents and they hope to achieve at least half of what their parents achieved (in case of Bebo, Bir and Sona at least).

That's like others saying how it's so hard to get into this industry when they had to do nothing except do their little walk on a ramp or win a beauty pageant. That doesn't make me generalize every single "outsider" (seriously what's with these terms) and say how they are so unappreciative!! What about the thousands of those who are so talented but not as blessed with looks?? Bah!

^That is why in almost all my arguments I have mentioned Abhishek. And I remember Ranbir saying all you said, but also talking about how "star kids" have their own struggle because they will be compared to their family. He has done it a lot less than Abhishek, but still he has used that card.

I don't know about Sonam because I don't follow too many of her interviews. The only time I mentioned her was when I talked about how most films starring two new comers who are outsiders wouldn't have a budget that Saawariya did.

And you may not think much of what models and beauty queens have achieved, but atleast they got their breaks on their own steam.

I think it is quite a challenge to live upto your famous parents/siblings...the pressure can be killing...the fear of disappointing your parents, the audience and hearing people say "look look that is Big B's son and he is such a failure...he is not like his father" U think that is easy to live with? Ask Faisal Khan....Aamir's brother...the man lost his mind coz he could not be as famous as his brother...he had a very easy entry...his dad made a movie for him...even Aamir tried...but he couldn't deliver....and he lost his mind. So when starkids complain they complain for a reason! Yes it is not as BIG as someone who is trying to make a living out of this profession....but it is not easy either! I am not too aware of the Bachchan scenario but I feel that just because he was Big B and Jaya's son people expected him to deliver and be as good....who knows maybe he is a better character actor or something...maybe he can do well in supporting roles...I think expecting all star kids to be the lead hero is wrong. I think Tushar Kapoor is quite good in certain kind of roles (I liked him in Khakee)...and so is Tanisha (she was really good in Sarkar)...Arbaaz and Sohail Khan (were so fabulous in Jaane Tu) but why expect them to be as famous or even as good as their parents/siblings???? I think that's what kills them. The comparison! The expectation. And I think that's what they complain about.

Really? You think if they got it all on their own? Do you know that Aishwarya got into modeling seriously only because REKHA recommended her after seeing her somewhere?? She only got into Miss World pagent because of an ex miss world (or India, can't remember) Mehr helped her with her portfolio and everything?? And I am not even going to start how she got into movies. Believe me when I say this, I was one of her biggest fans at one point (I no longer am only because I do not like the new married Ash but I do think she's still talented) and I knew nearly everyone who was close to her. AND Deepika only made it because her dad is famous and he had connections? (as much as you guys deny it, I have my sources well placed).

Fact is, NOBODY would make it anywhere in this industry if you don't have the right connections or the right people. Outsider or not, starkid or not. Just watch Fashion, yes it takes things a little too far, but there is a lot of truth in it.

As for Abhishek, even I agree that Amitabh stop needing to be so involved in his career and he really needs to stop complaining.

Ranbir did say the struggles are more but he never complained, he was stating a fact. He goes on and on about how he is proud of being Raj Kapoor's grandson and would love to be even 10% of what Raj Kapoor. And as for Sonam, SLB didn't see see her at a party with her dad and casted her, she worked her butt off for him for 6 months as an AD and that was when he decided to cast her.

This might border on heartless, but honestly I still can't muster sympathy for them when so many other people from outside the industry have to sleep with directors and producers to get their breaks. It is about relative struggles. Don't we all have the pressure of wanting to be successful no matter who our parents are?

I agree that a lot of film family entrants should not be in leading roles, but no one is forcing them to do so.

Uday Chopra when he can't find anyone else to get him a film, writes the script, gets a friend to direct it and his father to produce it. This is the same production house that steals scripts from people trying to make it in Bollywood without connections. I think the relative struggles are definitely tipped on the harsher side for the people without a family backing them - even if you are as un-leading man material as Uday Chopra.
