Salman Khan fans love Wanted
Fans rally behind Salman Khan not for no reason. They know that he would strike back like a bolt from the blue anytime. They are right. With Wanted, Salman has proved that he still has the strength to blow seven villains with a single blow. Yes, he is back with a bang.

The fact is that Salman fans are having good time watching his latest release Wanted. Feedback on the film flooded Oneindia. His fans think that it is his best film and best performance ever. Some even claim that it is better than Aamir Khan's Ghajini, which was released last year. It is on the verge of becoming a big hit with its opening weekend collection grassing up to Rs.20 crore.

The bad run of his few recent releases made Salman work harder than usual. He had said that he made mistake by taking up films for his friends without taking the interest of his fans into account. He promised that he would try to please his fans from now on.

And so, Wanted is the just the beginning. Salman is here to stay. Watch out for more!

Wanted Has Another Huge Day On Tuesday

Wednesday 23rd September 2009 11.30 IST

Boxofficeindia.Com Trade Network

Wanted is continuing with record business on Tuesday which was Bassi Eid. The film collected around 5.75 crore nett on Tuesday which is very similar to the collections of Ghajini on its first Tuesday. Single screens across the country recorded huge business with higher collections than Monday. Multiplexes were around 30% lower than its record Monday.

The five day collections of the film stand at around 31 crore nett and the next two days are expected to add anywhere between 5-7.50 crore nett depending on how it performs as holiday season is over. The first week business should come somewhere in the range of 36-38.50 crore nett which would make it Salman Khan's biggest first week opener and and the fifth biggest seven day opening week in history.

Domestic B.O.: 'Wanted' hits a ton

September 23, 2009 - 09:02 IST

First things first! After weeks of non-performance [after KAMINEY and LIFE PARTNER, to be precise], the domestic box-office showed a spurt last weekend. The footfalls at cineplexes/single screens proved that the viewers were starved of entertainment and were awaiting the biggies with bated breath.

The weekend gone by was also an acid test for Salman Khan [WANTED] and Rani Mukheri [DIL BOLE HADIPPA]. The two actors were facing rough weather since the past few months with their past few films failing at the ticket window. Salman can now heave a sigh of relief!

WANTED performed exceptionally well at single screens and some multiplexes on Friday. But the business was not encouraging at certain plexes. The business didn't show a big jump on Saturday, but Sunday was rocking. Monday was terrific [Eid] and so was Tuesday [not a holiday, but Eid festivities continue].

Salman enjoys tremendous popularity amongst Muslim audience and the extra-ordinary figures on Monday and Tuesday have only strengthened the prospects of this film. Industry experts feel that the first week should end anywhere between Rs. 35 crores to Rs. 38 crores. Wow!

DIL BOLE HADIPPA, on the other hand, had a decent to ordinary weekend. Certain plexes were better [North especially], but the single screens were dull. Shahid Kapoor's KISMAT KONNECTION and KAMINEY had embarked on a superb start at the ticket window, but DIL BOLE HADIPPA didn't. That's because the junta was aware that Rani was in the driver's seat, while Shahid was on the backseat this time.

The reports of DIL BOLE HADIPPA were ordinary as well and that explains why its business never showed a remarkable jump, except on Sunday. Monday was mixed, despite Eid. The advantage with DIL BOLE HADIPPA is its reasonable costing, but, again, it all depends on how it fares in its second weekend.

The theatrical and non-theatrical revenues might be able to see the film to safety. But it's a wait and watch situation right now. One definitely expected much more from Yash Raj, from the business point of view, post RAB NE BANA DI JODI and NEW YORK.

As for WANTED, the film has caught on with the masses big time. But, of course, the second weekend is crucial for this film as well. Fingers crossed!

'Wanted' scores in Pakistan, UAE

-By Taran Adarsh, September 23, 2009 - 08:47 IST

WANTED may have under-performed in U.K. and U.S.A., but the film is faring very well in Pakistan and UAE.

UAE started slowly since its release coincided with the last two days of Ramadan, but the film grossed over 500k Dirhams on Sunday, followed by 600k Dirhams on Monday, making the gross 1.5 million Dirhams. This is a significant gross despite Friday and Saturday being slow with Sunday and Monday being higher than any other previous film.

Pakistan is seeing euphoria like never before. In centres like Gujranwala, where LOVE AAJ KAL did Pak Rs. 7 lakhs in a week, WANTED has done Pak Rs. 4 lakhs in a single day!!! Almost all centres are reporting similar trends in Pakistan.

"We are confident that it will outperform other recent films like LOVE AAJ KAL and KAMBAKKHT ISHQ in Pakistan. The content of this film is tailor-made for Pak audiences, with locals enjoying the action, especially Salman's physique in the film," Pranab Kapadia of Eros has informed this writer.
