I liked the movie in bits and pieces not as a whole😆.......and i did not like it because "it deals with an important issue" 😆........i liked it because what they showed in the movie.......that first the FBI captures an innocent man and tries to prove him that he is a terrorist.......and when he becomes one ......the FBI wants to capture him......it proves that the FBI turned him into a terrorist ....this thing has happened to some people......i remember a doctor who used to practice in US ......after 9/11 he was captured and touted as terrorist ......they did torture him......after that they released him because he was innocent......though he did not become a terrorist but he stopped his practice there and went to Australia..........to lead a normal life again Sam in the film turned into a terrorist ..........and his aim was to finish FBI who ruined his life and destroyed his identity. Coming to the part of FBI agent Roshan ...Roshan's aim was to prove that all Muslims are not terrorists ..........i liked the contrasting mindset of Sam and Roshan.........Sam wants to take revenge from the people who ruined his life so that no other Sam is born and Roshan wants to prove the innocence of Muslims........that all Muslims are not terrorists.....both have same aim in a different way 😉

I liked John's acting in the movie 😉......Katrina did not really have much to do 😕......I am a big fan of Neil after i saw Jhonny Gaddar.....i liked Neil's acting.......Irfan Khan is one actor who never fails to impress me......His acting as Roshan was very good 👍🏼

Well..now I thinkw e are getting a right picture of NY.
Here I read great review of the movie maybe becasue - as you all said - good topic or their favorite actors in it.
But when I read the reviews out of IF they were mostly negative. People did not like it as much.
It is a yash raj Movie. They are know for paid reviews as well as paid reviews. If reviews are great people go and watch it.

I am so tired of this bollywood making 9/11 movies again and again. Why they don't concentrate their country's own issues for change why the muslims have not progressed as others in our country. how much people are living in poverty in villages? how people are still suffering for two time meal? They seem to care less with own issues but I am tired of this 9/11 movies especially coming form bollywood. or crappy Akshay Kumar movies.

Yes, please.

Oh wait, we've got Qurbaan and MINK coming up. Great.

The idea behind New York was good. The execution...meh. I gave it a 3.5/5 rating solely based on those few scenes dealing with the detention center.

i dont think any one in today's world is so stupid to call a movie good just because it deals with an important issue...mostly such movies are prefered to be seen on dvds but the reason behind NY's success is its being a very gripping movie not coz of its important issue as u described and coming to the performances i would support and agree wid the critics that its the best performance of all the 3 actors till date..i think u have certainly under estimated today's audience n that is so not what it is in my opinion...

i certainly think that if u watch a movie making a specific point of view abt it or abt a particular actor u can never like it..ur review shows that u have been a little biased ...the way u talked abt katrina..i mean i know shez not a great actress but many ppl who have seen the movie wid a neutral mind have found great improvement in her but the way u have described her looks like shez only there in the movie for songs n stuff but the fact is shez not...n u have tried really hard to somehow find something wrong in it..i think if u saw the movie with a neutral mind u would have felt every bit of the pain...im not being personal n no offense but thats wat i strongly feel...

okay... so i did see NY... and yes, it is a bit over the top... the idea was good, but they just went over the top with all the percieved notions of what is would have been like... don't think they had much clue... they made it into a melodrama to appeal to the audience...

and my doubts were confirmed... they did not do any justice to the story... this is why i do not like bollywood tackling issues like these... they have absolutely no clue....!!
John did great and he was the star of the movie, even though in some scenes i did not like his acting... but he was much better... where the movie fails is showing the transition and the inner battle that leads to the culmination of the climax.... it was rushed and not executed properly...
bollywood should really give up trying to tackle sensitive issues...
you know, i came to NY during Bush Administrations... yes, there was a whole phase that unfortunate things happened... but things did improve during Bush Administration... it's not like suddenly things changed as soon as Obama became president.... yes, he did improve quite a lot of things and i'm glad he's taking steps to improve the economics of the country, which Bush failed at....!
in any case... katrina was alright... not so path breaking as everyone says, but i'm happy she's getting appreciated... she has lots more room to improve... and i won't go to the extent saying she shut up her critics because that'll take more time...!
Neil was average... some scenes he enacted quite well, others were a bit over the top...
Irfan was saving grace... he's great performer but he is getting repetitive, i agree...
overall, i'll give it 2 out of 5...!!
i would much rather have watched KI... at least it is what it promises to be, a mindless entertainer... 😛
