I agree. All those mushy romances mainly impress teenagers and any other movie which claims to be action or a serious film is a remake of Hollywood film which they have already seen. Any sensitive subject like TZP are regular subjects in regional cinema like Bengali, Malayalam or Marathi.

Guys, I don't think this attack should be towards Russell

he's a comedian guys!! and he's pretty damn good at what he does [trust me I've been to his shows and you can hardly stop laughing]

its all meant to be taken in good spirits...he says a bunch or racial comments towards desi's and everyone else...all comedians do..but its the way you take it that matters...this isn't a political issue that should be taken seriously...he's just trying to get laughs out of all of us not really trying to name facts or whatever 🤔

I think she has done a great job in some movies, but isn't the best actress. And Russel Peters.. I won't comment on him.

You guys are so funny, you said that her performances depend on her directors as Mani, Sanjay for me a bad actress is someone who can't act even with the best director in the world.

She is director's actress though....like Rani Mukherjee has given super hits w/ people like Siddharth Anand and Shaad Ali...these arent people that are very well-known, until now. Rani is versatile and can deliver a fantastic performace despite the who the director is. Aishwarya can not.

Mani Ratnam, Subhash Ghai and Sanjay Leela Bhansali have been known for years...and only they can get decent performances out of Aishwarya. So shes definitely a director's actress. She could never be as versatile as Rani, Kajol, Madhuri, Shridevi, or even to an extent the Kapoor sisters....Im not a fan of the Kapoor sisters but both of those girls can act. Whether its Karishma in Zubeida or Kareena in Omkara...Aishwarya isnt in the same league talent-wise as any of these women.

Again, ill say it though. She is a very beautiful woman. But other than a pretty face, I see nothing in her that shouts actress.

It's nonsensical that only one actress is targeted...if she is criticized for acting in emotional full, larger than life romantic love stories which appeal desi crowd but not western, than why aren't other actors/actresses targeted...take the love stories that Rani, Preity and most of SRK ones....always larger than life love stories.......of course I myself love those stories....but it's no use putting one actress down if her movie stories don't appeal westerners....if Hum Di chuke Sanam wud be tagged larger than life love story....what level wud be Devdas categorised in...where basically they go psycho for love.....

Ash has performed really well in the following directors' movies

Rajeev Menon
Mani Ratnam
Ashutosh Goviritkar
Ram Gopal Verma
Jag Mundhdra
Rituparno Ghosh
SLB
Subhash Ghai
etc etc

So much for being a director's actress.. she has done well in majority of her movies.. In fact in the last few years she has hardly got any bad reviews for any of the movies.. also what is wrong with being a "director's actress" anyway, it takes a lot of talent to immerse in a role and bring out the director's vision on screen..

People act as if other so called "great" actresses haven't given any bad performances.. Its like people judge other actresses for their one off "critical" success but judge Ash for her few bad performances years ago.. hypocrisy much???

people such as Shyam Benegal, Sir Ben Kingsley, Ashutosh Goviritkar, Mani Ratnam etc etc have praised her acting skills and many say she is very underrated.. but i suppose they are only saying that because she has a "pretty face" LOL and she gets movie offers by critically acclaimed directors because of her "looks".. people don't realize they are insulting these directors more than her by making such claims
