Disappointed: Deepak Parasher with Carol Gracias in Bigg Boss
A massage followed by a body scrub was topmost on Deepak Parasher's mind as he stepped out of Bigg Boss's house in Karjat. This week's evictee terms his experience in Sony's reality show as an eye-opener and something that he wants to put down on paper. "I have plans to write a book about my experience with Bigg Boss. I know it will take time but there is enough fodder," he says.

You mentioned your first wife and a daughter you've never met on the show.
Yes. There is nothing to hide. In 1984, I met Sarita, a Punjabi girl settled in Malaysia. She was a big fan of mine. Nikah had just been released and those were the heady days of stardom. It was a chat mangni, pat byaah sort of thing.

When she was pregnant, I met with a speedboat accident and injured my foot. It was so bad that I was told I would never be able to walk again. I did not want her to know about this, as I was worried it would affect her delivery.

So I told her I had injured my foot while dancing with a girl. Of course, all kinds of stories had been circulating about me too. So I guess the incident really affected her. She left home with everything and remained incommunicado for a long time.

She phoned me twice in 1988 and 1999 when I lost my parents. The first time when she called she said she was in Singapore and that's when I got to know about my daughter. The next time she called, she said she was in New Zealand. I don't know where they are now. But a child needs both parents, so I hope I meet her someday. I've remarried since. My present wife's name is Neerja.

Your nightgown has become such a talking point!
So the Bigg Boss contestants used to call me Nightiewale Baba, eh? How could they speak so negatively about me? First of all, men don't wear nighties, women do. What I wear is called a kandoora or a jabba (Arab men wear this). I've been wearing them since I first saw them in Dubai in 1986 and I've been getting them from there ever since. They are so comfortable and I'm always wearing them at home, which is why I wore them on the show as well.

Farah Khan loved your style statement.
That's what I have just been told and I think it is really sweet of her to say this. I suggest her husband (Shirish Kunder) try wearing a kandoora too!

Do you think that being yourself has gone against you?
Yes, but why should I become a different person overnight, like the rest of the contestants have done, to remain on Bigg Boss? I have been part of the film industry for 28 years. I have behaved, dressed and done exactly like I do at home. I did not play to the cameras. I used to get up early and cook basic food like rice, dal and sabzi. At that time, most of the others would still be sleeping. I was sad about being nominated for eviction in the first week itself and then again in the second week. I only did what I should have done as the eldest person on the show. I did not hit anyone below the belt or become part of any clique. They thought I was dangerous for them, so they ousted me.

Who will cook for them now?
When your mother passes away, you have to fend for yourself. I guess they will have to do the same now.

Deepak's ouster saddens Farah
An avid watcher of Bigg Boss, Farah Khan was taken aback by Deepak Parasher's exit from the show.

"That's really sad, and it happened just when I went out to buy those hairbands that Deepak wears. I bought three knitted hairbands yesterday. I will not buy the gowns that he wears, but just borrow it from my mom! I will sorely miss Deepak on the show. Who will the contestants bitch about now?"

No means no: Kumar Gaurav
TV? Nahin, nahin!
We've got to hand it to Kumar Gaurav. He may have little to no acting assignment in hand, but he's certainly not going to take up things he looks down upon. Recently, there was a buzz doing the rounds that he was being considered as Salil Ankola's replacement on Bigg Boss.

But when we checked with the one-film wonder, he quipped in a rather tongue-in-cheek manner, "I may be a one-film star, but I will never do television!"

Ouch! We don't think TV actors are going to take that remark kindly! Last heard, he had been approached by Ekta Kapoor to play Jai Walia's role in Kasamh Se. But the actor asked for a whopping sum, which Madam refused.

See, Kumar's even got his strategy right. If you don't want to do something and can't say no, ask for an obscene amount of money and they'll be out of there faster than you can say 'Nahin, nahin… abhi nahin'.

Suspicious Kashmeera and the rest can finally take off their interrogation caps.
Bigg Boss decided to give their taxed brains a rest by dispelling the mystery surrounding Ragini Shetty. He announced Ragini's real identity as his mole in the house and even gifted her a cake saying he was very happy with her. Now, what will the others have to say about that shocking revelation? Will she be the next to be evicted for the betrayal?
It is no secret that Deepak Parashar wasn't the most popular inmate around the house, getting on everyone's nerves with his talk of 'keeping the family together' and his attempts to get things done the way he wanted, by domination.
So it comes as no surprise that he's the next to be evicted from the house. That is the focus of Monday's episode. Parashar himself believes that he didn't fit in.
In his words, "I was like a senior citizen in that house and people couldn't relate to me."
And he makes no bones about his fondness for Anupama, even going so far as to say he would want a daughter like her, whose good behaviour reflected her upbringing. Sniffle. Tissue, anyone?
Host Arshad Warsi also speaks to the remaining inmates about who they think will emerge the winner. Both Deepak Tijori and Roopali contend that Carol might make it to the end. Tijori, like Rakhi and Carol, also feels that Amit stands a good chance. Amit himself, like the ousted Parashar, believes that the reticent Rahul Roy will make it to the end, while Anupama thinks it could be Tijori and Ragini thinks it will be Aryan.
Well, we'll just have to bring on the two Ws — wait and watch about that, wont we?

Deepak Parashar says some people in the house are indulging in groupism and petty politics

DEEPALI DHINGRA

After Bobby Darling's ouster from Sony's Bigg Boss, the next person to leave the house is Deepak Parashar. But unlike Bobby, he doesn't seem to have bitter feelings against anyone who's been part of the show.
I'm hurt...
I'm not at all bitter about my ouster from the show but I'm feeling a little hurt. I have mixed feelings about leaving the house of Bigg Boss.
I was misunderstood...
I treated all the participants of the show as my children, so I'm a little hurt that they misunderstood me. The first day, I distributed perfumes to all of them, which was again misunderstood by them. I felt like a father taking care of his kids, so I tried to look after them. But this is the way I am. I will not change myself for a show.
The generation gap might have been a problem... They said I was too strict with them. But aren't you supposed to correct children when they do something wrong? Maybe it had something to do with generation gap. They wouldn't have liked to listen to a man whom they had known for just a few days.

It's their loss...
Just two days back, Rakhi Sawant got annoyed when I got up to make tea for myself in the morning, as she thought I was making too much noise. I was making tea as I wasn't feeling well, but I apologised to her. Main apne level se nahin utra. I feel that I'm leaving the house after setting it up for them. It's their loss now that I'm gone from the house.
I still love them all...
In my eyes, they're all my kids. I love them even if they all hate me. I just know one thing, that the people who're indulging in groupism will die of guilt one day.

Day 15 in the Bigg Boss House

It's been a few hours since Deepak left the house, and Anupama seems really distraught. The guys are debating who's going to take Deepak's bed because whoever takes it will probably end up making tea and cooking food for everyone. The vote is for Amit, and the poor guy looks really worried!

Day 15
Rakhi is upset with Amit because he doesn't talk to her and talks to everyone else. They're having their first lovers tiff! Amit is trying to soothe her down, but they then start fighting about him not liking her food or anything. Aaww, they look so cute having their loves tiff.

2pm and Anupama feels that Aryan has the same opinion of Anupama that the others have - that she cannot survive in the house and that he's fake. Aryan tries to make her understand and clear things out, but she doesn't listen. She's upset that Aryan feels Ravi is a genuine person whereas he thinks that Ravi is a fraud. Telling Anupama politically correct answers, and playing a big game is what Aryan is all about, says Anupama. You're very smart Aryan.

So is being smart a crime? Does it make Aryan a bad person?

Aryan is very upset at Anupama and her attitude, and goes to discuss this with Ravi. Aryan admits that he's made mistakes in the house, but that does not make him a bad person. He gives Ravi the example of previous nominations and gives his reason as to why he had to do what he did. It wasn't because he was bad, but it was circumstances. He also reveals to Ravi why Kashmira and him were called into the confession room together. Seems like he's changing!

Aryan then goes back to Anupama and explains to her. He admits to her that he was listening to Kashmira and also discussing Amit and the nominations with her. He never brought it up with Anupama because he did not want to lose her friendship. For the first time in his life, he understands what it means to truly connect with someone and he didn't want to jeopardise it. Looks like Aryan wanted to be upfront and honest with Anupama, but it backfired. Anupama is not affected and didn't give a damn. Sorry Aryan, but Anupama may not be the right girl for you after all.

7pm in the Bigg Boss House and Ravi's telling the guys what he thinks Deepak would be doing now, getting home after two weeks. Seems like he knows him really well, and at 9pm, he knows that Deepak would be watching the show. Ravi feels that everyone in the house has gone back in time and they back to their teens. Some even 3 years old. But Kashmira seems to be her age! Whatever age she came in, is her actual age! Rakhi is confused with her age, but she can't decide what age she should be.

Well, Ravi seems to be the only one in the house who's kept spirits high and is taking things very sportily. He's had a complete change of attitude and is enjoying the game. Let's see if he can now survive till the end.

Salil is back on small-screen
After Hours Correspondent

The actor resumes acting in 'Karam Apna Apna'

Salil Ankola, who was booted out of 'Bigg Boss' (Sony) last week due to an injunction passed by the Mumbai High Court, returned to the 'Karam Apna Apna' (Star Plus) sets yesterday.

The cricketer turned actor had allegedly flouted an agreement signed with Balaji Telefilms, which required him to commit all his dates to the production house for 'Karam Apna Apna' (Star Plus) that was launched on August 29 this year. The actor was expected to abide by the contract for the next 12 months. He shot for 20 days each in August and September on the sets of 'Karam..' but did not show up in October. It was later learnt that Salil had signed up for 'Bigg Boss'.

When Balaji moved court, Justice DK Deshmukh ordered that until the arbitration in the agreement is pending, the actor cannot act, endorse, advertise or do voice overs for programmes produced by production houses that compete with Balaji. Sony had no option but to ask him to leave.

A week later, a repentant Ankola sent a text message to Ektaa Kapoor, saying he was sorry that he had overstepped his limits. A forgiving Ekta, it appears, has let bygones be bygones, and has decided to re-induct him into 'Karam..'

Confirming the development, Salil says, "Keeping my best interests in mind, I took the initiative and Ektaa responded with warmth and positivity. I spoke to the creative head Doris and I am happy to be back working for Balaji again. Life is too short and ego destroys. It was important for me to settle this issue amicably."

If the Salil episode is the latest in the supposedly ongoing feud between Balaji and Sony's creative director Sandiip Sikcand, then it appears to be advantage Ektaa for now!

Nahin Boss, mein bahar hi theek hoon!
By: Tushar Joshi
November 20, 2006

These celebrities could have been locked up in Bigg Boss's home too, but some blamed work pressure while others got cold feet. And now that the show has become the flavour of the season, we checked up with them to see if they are now living in regret.

Urvashi Dholakia

I haven't watched a single episode in its entirety, so I don't know what Bigg Boss is really like. Maybe if I watch it more often, I'll be able to decide if I regret not doing it.

Fav contestant: No one at the moment.

I'd vote out: I'd need to be a part of the show to figure that out.
Survival tactics: I think it takes loads of patience for sure.

Smriti Z Iraani

I don't regret my decision, as I really didn't have time to do it. I watch the show when I have free time, which is not often.

Fav contestant: I never thought Rakhi would wash clothes, clean the house and say Jai Ganesh, so she makes for interesting viewing. Even though she says outrageous things at times, she looks very domesticated!
I'd vote out: I really don't want to go through the torture of playing this mind game!

Survival tactics: Loads of patience and presence of mind are must-haves if they want to make it till the end.

Karan Wahi

I try and catch the show whenever I get the time. It's very entertaining and has become quite a rage. I would have loved to be a part of Bigg Boss, but my illness prevented me from doing so. But I have no regrets.

Fav contestant: I like Aryan Vaid, because he's figured out how to play the game. Rupali is a dear friend, but I think she's being misunderstood.

I'd vote out: Ravi Kissen, since he's dying to go back to his wife and kids. Also, Deepak Parasher.
Survival tactics: I think patience is something that will help them keep going till the end.

Archana Puran Singh

The idea of being a goldfish in a bowl and being watched by the entire nation freaked me out, which is why I opted out of Bigg Boss. But I watch the show often, as it's very entertaining.

Fav contestant: I quite like Nightiewale Baba (Deepak Parasher). However, Parmeet is completely in love with Rakhi. I really admire her ability to shoot from the hip and not care about what others think of her. I can't imagine watching the show without her now.

I'd vote out: Kashmera, because of the mind games she plays. Then there's also Aryan, who is pushing Anupama too hard, and Carol, because I don't like how she looks when she wakes up in the morning!

Survival tactics: One needs to have immense strength of character and very strong foundations to survive. Otherwise you have to be vulnerable to win over audience empathy.

Milind Soman

I watched a bit of one episode. The concept is fascinating but Arshad (Warsi) is really boring. I would have loved to participate if I had the time and if the house had more interesting people in it. So no, no regrets!

Fav contestant: The only one halfway decent one is Rakhi. She is freaky, but in a nice way.

I'd vote out: I can't say. Nobody is more interesting than the other, so I would probably have to pick straws to choose!

Survival tactics: I think once you enter the house, you discover qualities you never knew existed. These will help the contestant in surviving.

Punam Dhillun

When I was offered Bigg Boss, there were a couple of things that stopped me from saying yes. But even then I liked the concept and knew that it would be a winner. I've watched a few episodes, but my hairdresser keeps filling me on the latest developments.

Fav contestant: I felt very bad when Bobby Darling was evicted. I thought she was very sweet.

I'd vote out: I can't pick any one name at the moment.
Survival tactics: You need to be stable and not be insecure. I think it takes courage for actors to take say yes to something like this, so I admire their guts.

Yukta Mookhey
I was approached to be a part of Bigg Boss in the initial stages, but I had too many things on my mind then. I didn't want to give up on my film work and was sceptical about being locked away for three months. But I don't regret not doing it. I watch the show regularly and I think it's very entertaining.

Fav contestant: Rakhi. I think she's everyone's favourite. She is truly entertaining and a simple girl at heart.
I'd vote out: Bobby and Salil, and they've already been eliminated. Bobby wasn't shown any compassion, so in a way I'm happy he's out of the house. Also, Salil looked out of place, but maybe with time he would have managed to make friends.
Survival tactics: You have to be calm and composed. I think it's important not to take what others say about you very seriously and make use of the time to introspect.

Day 14: Pack-up time for Grandpa..err..Deepak
Deepak Parashar shown the door: Yet another spine-tingling friday! Everybody was on the edge when Bigg boss came ahead with a bunch of audiences to begin the eviction rituals (that's what we prefer calling it). Three people were nominated for eviction - Roopali, Ravi and Deepak Parashar. All three were sitting on a couch as Bigg Boss used his hunter...err began with his questionare. Roopali looked cheerful as she boasted that she learned cooking in the last fourteen days. Ravi was quite tensed, and it showed. Only Deepak sat there calm and composed...as if he was quite sure of the results. You rock Deepak!: We call him grandpa, but we can't deny Deepak's sincerity towards the family. When Bigg Boss asked him to pack up...he stood up with his hands in the air. An emotional Rakhi ran ahead to hug him. Anupama met him with tears in her eyes. Carrying a red travel bag, Deepak came up the stage to bid farewell to Arshad and the audiences. He mentioned that he had given his best, maybe he couldn't connect with the youngsters. He also pointed out that he was shocked when Rahul Roy voted against him considering that he is just 14 years younger to him and they bonded well. Ragini exposed and how!: Kashmera baby is never wrong, right? She was the first one who suspected Ragini's identity. And today in the lieu of a game Bigg boss exposed her to the entire clan. Of course, she is not a celebrity...but it definitely takes some talent to fool as many as 13 celebrities! Cool girl! Who will be the final survivor?: Bigg boss was in one of his killer moods as he asked the inmates who they think will win. Rahul felt it will be Deepak Tijori as he is collective and matured. Did we hear calculative and mastermind, Rahul? Ragini felt that Amit would win because he is chilled out and good natured. For Anupama, Deepak Tijori and Deepak Parashar were the hottest. While Carol named Amit as the good natured one who deserved to win. Well, dear Carol, should we remind you that this is Bigg Boss's house, and winning is not about being good or bad. Anyways, Roopali felt Carol and Rakhi has the potential. That's again because Carol is a good human being...yawn.. and Rakhi because she is a real entertainer, we agree she sure is. Deepak Tijori felt Carol is cute and genuine…hmmm...really Deepak? Ravi Kishan nodded for Amit and Carol. Deepak Parashar went for Rahul Roy. Amit chose Rahul. Well, who is the lucky one Rakhi feels has the potential? Well, it is surprisingly Ragini and Amit. Is anybody left...oh yes, Kashmera. 'Agar yeh natak band kar de, toh Roopali jeet sakti hain,' blurted Kashmera. Roopali was seen making a face as she digested the complement..err...whatever it was. Cooking classes for Roopali: Roopali's mother seemed quite pleased with her daughter in Bigg Boss as unlike at home her daughter was cooking and doing household work out here. Of course, Rakhi didi hain na! 'Its good to see her growing strong as a person!' she said. Well aunty, you should personally thank Kashmera for teaching her the naunces of politics as well: A good career option for her!

Keeping an eye on Ravi: Ravi Kishan's wife looked cheerful sitting in the audience. She said she loved the show as now she can keep an eye on her husband sitting at home. Of course, madam, we understand your feelings completely. Is Nagma listening?

Day 15: Anupama gives up on Aryan
'You broke my trust. You're like any other person in the house, playing politics all the time,' claimed Anupama as Aryan sat beside explaining her that he is innocent and just trying to sail with the wind. Aryan beta, we believe tumhara patta kat gaya hain! Anupama insisted that she feels Aryan is good at heart, but she is looking for a different person to spend her life with. We suggest Aryan, you keep trying, if not directly then you've Ravi bhaiya by your side. Ask him for some help, na? Deepak playing a good grandpa: Deepak Parashar left the Bigg boss house with everybody's number. He promised them he would inform their parents and relatives about their wellbeing. Great going man! If not inside the house, at least outside you'll be appreciated by them. Brewing chemistry between Rakhi and Amit: We spotted Amit and Rakhi indulging in a pillow fight as she accused him of not appreciating her cooking. What's more, Rakhi said that despite his rude behavior, she liked him. Arre Rakhi...if you cook well, everybody will appreciate you, na? Anyways, it seems like a major bonding is happening between the two. Carol in tears 'They never told me that I've to speak Hindi out here,' blurted Carol as she ran out of the kitchen when pricked about speaking in English. She sat near the swimming pool and cried out aloud. Poor girl got all the attention she wanted from none other than Rahul roy - "Our swimming pool ka raja." Good strategy Carol. Keep playing.

Who is Deepak Tijori's favourite in the house?
Deepak seems to be quite impressed with Anupama's figure...err sweet nature. He feels that she is not just good natured and considerate, but very understanding as well. What's more, we also heard him saying that she is one person he would want to be associated with for life. Pretty women are always nice to be associated with Deepak, tell us something we don't know.

"I have a great respect for Ekta Kapoor"---Salil Ankola

What if he realized his mistake after the damage was done? What if he was shown the door before he could pack his bags gracefully? Like his stint with cricket, his innings with Sony's Big Boss ended in a disaster. So nothing new for this man with a checkered past.

For sure we are talking about Salil Ankola. The man in mention is making news for all the wrong reasons. His ouster from Sony's Bigg Boss was something which the actor had little anticipated. Adds Salil, "I realized quite late that I have signed a contract with Balaji and now I am back shooting for Karam Apna Apna."

Looks like our star of Kora Kagaz fame would have a better memory in future after being served court orders. So how was his experience being in the Big Boss show, and the stylish actor says, "I have fond memories of my stay in the Big Bosse's house. It was like living with a family we used to have fun together. I would surely remember this experience for the rest of my life".

And what does he feel about the fact that Ekta had to send him a legal notice to resume work. "Well, it's all about the profession. I don't harbour any hard feelings for this incident and I have a great respect for Ekta Kapoor. I was on a working contract with Balaji and if they sent me a notice as a reminder, it's all in the spirit of the profession."

So what is Salil busy post the Bigg Boss controversy? "I am back to work and have resumed shooting for Karam Apna Apna where I play Mahen the suave businessman."

Talk about his co-star Iqbal Khan (Salils son in Karam....) who had recently announced his intentions of quitting the serial in December, the actor retorts, "Iqbal is currently shooting with me for Karam and I have nothing else to say regarding this matter."

Ya sure....Once bitten is twice shy. And that's not a bad policy to adopt, we agree!
