I think I have heard this as being called reverse racism? But I have a doubt really. If a bunch of white people make fun of a brown or black person and imitate her way of talking, why is it offensive? I believe it is offensive because those people think the brown or black person is inferior to them. When they call names to a black person for his colour, it is meant as an insult because they think to be white is preferable.
Now, if a bunch of brown people call a white person some colour-related name, why is that offensive? We know in India, people think it is better to be fair. It isn't like they want to distance themselves from fair people. So, if somebody who is clearly on a lower level is making fun of somebody on a higher level, is that really offensive? (Here I am saying lower and higher with respect to majority Indian mentality of fairer skin being better.) If a poor man makes fun a rich man about him having so much money...is that offensive?Having said that, I did laugh at that scene and found it really funny but not because I am racist. If Manu genuinely thinks of Jason as being inferior because of the colour or the accent or even just really believe him to be anything other than normal, then I criticise it. But if that was only for fun, then I don't mind.Jagga's way of speaking has been made fun of in the forum so many times, just because she isn't from another race doesn't mean it's okay to make fun about her, right? Rakhi Sawant's way of speaking gets made fun of. So, it is okay if somebody speaks in a different way and you find it funny, you laugh about it. But if that makes you think any less of that person or treat her differently, then that's a problem.
I too laughed at it as much as the other celebs in the show did, because it was genuinely funny. However that doesn't make one a racist because it's said it in jest.
As for your whole paragraph. Well: 👍🏼
