Why go so far
In Sony TV only KRPKAB is same in which make lead was stalking after breakup and after marriage he got what he wanted then not paid much attention to his wife and even hiding about the fertility treatment and forced her for that and then even slapped his wife father and then also people expected that girl should be understanding they given alot abuse to female lead that she separated a father from child
And even when she came back after 7 years being a divorced he manhandled her and when he found out that he has male fried then again stalked her and broken everything now he even not want his daughter close to any male other than him
But people term it as love and passion and cute and the person who will not agree they will say she is a feminist
Anyway i don't want to compare but as your topic was how male lead doing same thing are treated then i have the closest example which is happening in present

@gudima I was watching that show. But the day the male lead cut his wrist publicly and stopped the female lead's engagement I stopped watching it. Making a suicide attempt well I dont call it love and that too a tamasha in front of so many guests. My mom watches it.

My post is about universal treatment of grey male characters and female characters. How they are written or shown in various mediums nothing about my personal opinion.Universally, grey male characters do get redemption and happiness when they fall in love but grey female characters rarely get that chance. This is a fact not an opinion.

Now for my personal opinion i like any normal girl i do like bad guy good girl love story😆.Yes may be not to the extend of other's like i can never ship Christian grey with any one but there are relationships that i ship in which male character is grey or has done terrible things and female character is good..So i do like those stories but i just feel that a bad girl good boy love story will be something different.Since its very rare to read about it or watch it onTV. Personally i prefer flawed characters to perfect ones as i relate more to flawed characters male and female both.

I think the general perception behind the theory is women were seen as Mahaan devi like tulsi and Parvati. 😆 But only in that department women has to be Mahaan and rest of time they are manhandled like commodities. Not given respect only baby producing machine.
Secondly I for a change like flawed characters. Men flirt they are hot and women flirt so cheap 😆 so I do like women doing the same for a change.

Coming to maya it's not just a flawed grey character. U remember viral dobriyal from saubagyavati bhava.I never supported that relationship. Jhanvi tried her level best but what happened she lost herself in it .If u want to survive then only way is to end it.

Excellent post

Indian telly is prone to scarfing females who should worship their husbands like god. Even if they had extra marital affair she would reform him and accept him.

Like shurthi said Indian women hood was not shown weak before ektha era began.
Smitha Patel and shabana asmi had done many roles which is quite unconventional.
Shanthi was one such heroine played by mandira bedi.
She was bold and fearless
After her I don't see any heroine with attitude like her.
Few year back there was a series called anamika where a spirit falls in love with a human.
In the end his sacrificying mata bakth Wife saves him.
Indian telly always show women either black husband snatching money hungry greedy vamp or white who loves her husband even if he cheats her and treats her like dormat or he man handles her.
There is no term as Grey for woman.
But grey shades man is highly on demand.
Like arnav maan or rk
At first I thought behad is different.
But no.
I fear they are going to take same old conventional root of good always wins

I like your point.

That's the reason as to why I never liked any of Gul's shows. The male leads of her shows are always half mad, and borderline abusive both physically and mentally. They are apparently 'misunderstood' men. The heroines are the epitome of goodness and naivete. And they, very unsurprisingly, change them and repair their broken souls.

But again, Maya is a notch above. She's not merely arrogant and misunderstood. She can be downright dangerous - even if she's not the killer of Ashwin and the pundit, we can't overlook the fact that she's repeatedly made attempts to kill.
And it's extremely difficult to live in a toxic relationship where you can't stand your wife. So I don't blame Arjun for wanting a way out. A suffocating long relationship can take a toll on you. Moreover Arjun has always been a "duffer" , literally. Understanding Maya and helping her cure is not something he can do, not at all.

Frankly, I would not even call Maya a gray character. Yes, to gray Maya must go and go long-long way. May be in the next phase 3, we really will see a gray character
And not just a heroine who acts not according to the standard pattern
Yes, she's the boss. Yes, she fired people. Gosh, that's her right. Here they are very fond of using the word right in favor of Vandana and Saanj. So the boss has every right to fire a person whose work he is unhappy with. Whether it's a parking guy, photographer or anyone else in her company. Promotion in work and its reasons - it's the right of the boss to decide how, when and for what reasons to raise the employee or cut his salary. In this there is nothing beyond the bounds, or even more so of gray
Heroes bosses expose female lead from work every two minutes, and generally without any reason, just because enrages. And how many humiliating, disgusting things are forced to pass female lead at work this mind is incomprehensible. But this is normal and it is accepted. When Maya someone fires it's a terrible sin

When Maya doesn't embrace Saanj in the hospital - it's terrible. When Vandana elementary purely formal can't give a blessing and retreats, when a person bends to her feet - this is normal. When Maya at the dinner scares Sange - this is a terrible sin, when Saanj pushes Maya off the ladder - it's normal, an accident, a mistake (the right option to emphasize)
Even now, Maya suffocates Arjun - she is evil from all evils of the world. And Arjun, who causes Maya physical, psychological, emotional harm - this is normal

And in fact, Arjun uses Maya's insane state and has fun. He isn't locked in a cage, in this cage the doors are open, he can go to all 4 sides, but still comes home to Maya and bluntly pours on her his irritation, frustration, anger, and physically pours out on her
It aggravates the psychological problem of man. And he is knowing what Maya experienced as a child with Ashvin
And is he a victim here? Yes, drop it! It is convenient for him, he can do what he wants, as he wants, and at the same time he has found himself a living boxing pear, which, at the moment, is completely insane

This is a terrible bias in assessing the situation, depending on your own desire to paint the character in a particular color

In simple language it's double standards

Do anyone remember a show called "Dil Se Di Dua... Saubhagyavati Bhava?"
If not, then do search for LifeOk's show starring Sriti Jha and Karanvir Bohra

So had the role been reversed that's what we would have got.

When things are difficult they are difficult, there is no role of gender. In that show, Janvi too moved on to find someone worthy, totally not happy about it.

I am not gonna be gender biased here, but be it Indian show or any other drama, most of it have their own ways of perception of portraying psychological illness, which is sad! Being into the field of psychology, these are the reasons why have I decided to give them a try. These are not simple topics to be taken lightly.

Well, it's different that in both the shows, "Beyhadh" and "Dil Se Di Dua.." main leads were the one suffering from the "harmful" illness, and in most of the shows, all the villians, and third angles have these inclinations, which are obviously ignored by makers and fans bash "evil" and "villians". So in that matter these two shows are different as leads are the sufferers.

What I expect is a good message to be given out to not ignore such people. Honestly more then "Love" they need healing. Analysis and guidance, which NONE of the show so far ever portrayed on television, some movies did. But looking at the show, I have 0 expectations.

she reminds me of how modern woman should be. The courage she had was lacked by current new age heroines who stuck between good and bad.

In between have you watched Swabhiman. I mean not the one which aires in rangeela channel.

One which aired in doordahrshan in late nintes . Actors like Rohit roy, Manoj Bajpai and Ashuthosh Rana acted as their debut serial.

if arjun would have been obsessive one, her wife action would have been totally depended on the type of person she was, not every girl is same.
maya needs professional help. outsiders can't force her and the people she loves are not strong and smart enough, that's her tragedy and that's what make this show a thriller, which was supposed to be, not some normal bad girl good boy.
everyone need love and maya need love along with professional help. i hope they will also show proper healing story, that would be also new on television.
