I don't mean to be controversial or anything but I am generally curious as a practicing muslim that has lived in the states all her life. I have never actually been in a big masjid, except Badshahi masjid in Lahore when I was like 7 or 8, and nothing like this had happened as far as I remember
I know what a Dargah is, I just don't know what exactly happens in one. I mean Aliyah kept mentioning Baba. Who is Baba? Is that what some people in India call in reference to Allah (SWT)? Also, when they were tying the "mannat ka dagah" we say people going around what looked like a body that was covered in flower petals and was being fanned. I have never seen that in a masjid. At first I thought it was somebody's Janazah but then I was like why would it be fanned and flowered on?

Can someone clear this up for me. I am so confused yet intrigued by this different culture.

Actually dargah culture is no way related to islam...going to shrines is just not permissible...pray and ask only to Allah...pray the creator not the created..
And about the serial i have read in the synopsis part that they are showing sufi muslim family...so u may understand the rest...itz mainly to appeal to the audience...nothing religious...yeah it sends out a misconception that going to dargah/shrines is Islam...but most muslims in india and pak do go to shrines...and do shirk...

I also have never been to a dargah and was very confused when i saw aaliya going to a dargah, I have only been to masjids
So i researched and A Dargah is like a shrine thats also like a grave
Im guessing the person she is calling Baba is the dead body under the flowers? Im not entirely sure whose grave is under the flowers ?😕
Its usually where sufi muslims go to make dua,
And Aaliya's character is a sufi muslim
But i have never heard that going there is not allowed i have hear it is permissible to go to a dargah
You just have to believe in Allah and allah only 100%
But after seeing Beintehaa i really want to go to a dargah now 😊

It was not a mosque.. it was a DARGAH... a dargah is a resting place(qabar) of some people who were said to be very close to Allah.

the baba refred ro here is the person whose shrine it is.. for eg.. the famous dargah of mumbai is the haji ali one.. and the Haji ali Baba is said to be the one to whom ppl take their pleads too..

There are two diifeernt thoughts here... actually in a dargah..some ppl go n ask the baba to pray to allah on their behalf...

but here it is wrongly portayed as praying to the baba...

Islam doesnt allow praying to anyone except Allah.

However, the sufi muslim culture is diffeent n i have no idea about it...

sorry but dont itz a complete shirk...dey go der and pray to the some saints grave...if u read Quran with translation..Allah says do not associate anyone in my worship...and the people u call besides Allah cannot listen to u or respond to u...
Itz a common sense how can a dead person do anything though he was a great righteous man...
In Saudi u wont find a single shrine and it is from where islam spread...and at at grave of prophet mohammad pbuh...u r not supposed to do sajdah...only read durood...

itz jus a fiction serial...so chill and leave it..njoy it...but dont follow...follow only Quran..

i dont know about dargah since i have been living in canada. but i do know my family in Pakistan and my mom did go to Maazar. if you know what i mean. i am thinking its kinda the same thing but in India they call it dargah and maybe in Pakistan its Maazar. My mom's family is orginally from india and my mom have been to india too and she did tell me she have been to alot of Maazars in India. And she did do the Manaat ka daga and she asked for a girl as a first child and she got one lol. And i guess dargah and Maazar is basically same. Point me if i am wrong.

leave about wat parents think...but for this generation we have Quran available with translation...In Quran Surah no. 42 Ash shora in ayat 49 " To Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth; He creates what he wills. He gives to whom He wills female [children], and He gives to whom He wills males Or He gives them [both] males and females, and He renders whom He wills barren. Indeed, He is Knowing and Competent.
So itz Allah who grants children to ppl...so watever need u have turn to him only...dont associate partners in his worship...itz da basic fundamental of Islam.."tawheed"

The only reason one can go to see graves / graveyard is to remember the truth of every life that is " death" and stop running behind worldly desires and turn towards Allah...
but out of curiosity u want to go den u can go jus to see as to wat dey do der..

basically the grave is of a saint, usually Auwllia's, people who were extremely pious and had numerous blessing showered on them for this reason. It is permissible to go pray Fathia at their graves, meaning pray for their souls but it is Shirk if you ask them for something.
In fact I went for Umrah a couple of years ago and when we went to the grave of the Holy Prophet PBUH, we were strictly told not to make dua facing his grave or the graves of the Khalifa's. Instead we were asked to pray towards the Kabah which was in a completely different direction from the grave. Those who tried to do it were taken away from the place.

They show it in Indian muslim show because it gives the majority of the audience something to relate to. I'm assuming this is why they showed Zain drinking and having girlfriends, etc. However yes, sufi's culture is very entwined with Mazaars/Dargahs.
