Divya crinkled her eyebrows, unable to register what he had just asked her. "Mood change ka matlab...?"
"Before, itni khush aur open nahin thi mere saath, and now suddenly, you want to grab my hand and take me somewhere..."
Divya looked down, slightly embarrassed. "I don't know if I really want to talk about it right now," she whispered, realising how awkward she suddenly felt. Whether he would understand why she said that, she was not sure... she wasn't quite ready to tell him how she felt just yet.
-------------------------------
Divya swallowed, catching her breath. She stared at Sagar, who simply gazed into her eyes, nodded slightly, and then looked away. She felt a slight jerk inside... what if her eyes conveyed another feeling towards him? What if he could understand how she really felt? Her words meant hesitation, but she knew their eyes connected...
"Theekhai."
Divya blinked her eyes, snapping out of her thoughts. "Kya?"
"Theekhai... you don't have to talk about it."
"Oh." Divya looked down, feeling slightly ashamed.
"Divya..."
"Yes?"
He sighed. "I think it's best if we both leave now... clearly, you need time to gather your thoughts together, and with me around, I don't think that's possible."
Divya immediately felt bad; she knew she was leaving him in the same situation as before. "Sagar --"
"It's fine. I understand. Ab tum jao; mujhe khaane ke liye bhi dher ho raha hai." He allowed a small smile to appear across his face, yet it seemed as if it pained him to do it.
Sagar walked away without waiting for Divya to open her mouth and say anything. She continued to stand there, dazed.
Next Day
[This part is written more towards Sagar's persepective, to get a different feel of things]
Sagar woke up abruptly, looking outside his window, trying to shield his eyes from the abnormally bright sunlight. He sighed; today was the last day he would come to the park... the last day for him to try and understand Divya... the last day for him to see if she felt the same way as he did.
He knew he couldn't ignore her gaze at him yesterday; surely, she must have meant something else... he felt something lock between them, as if something had finally clicked... but clearly, either Divya didn't feel that way, or she didn't want to tell him.
He heard his sister calling him downstairs, and rolled his eyes; as if any of his family cared about him anyway.
Sagar walked downstairs quietly, quick to hide from any of his parent's glances, and stepped out of the house successfully. He waited for a short moment, wondering whether anyone from his family would come outside and ask him where he was going, but he knew his efforts would go to waste. "Kisi ko farak hi nahin pardta anyway...", he muttered bitterly.
He walked to the park, his hands in his pockets, looking around him to see any signs of Divya. What if she never even came... he frowned at the thought.
He turned around and nearly yelled, as he found himself staring into Divya's eyes, which were peering into his own.
Sagar took a few steps back, and allowed himself to exhale deeply. "Divya... you nearly made me jump."
She blinked her eyes once and smiled at him. "Sorry. Anyway..."
He leaned his head forward slightly, an inclination for her to go on.
"Whatever you were thinking yesterday, when you nodded your head... you thought correctly."
Sagar raised his eyebrow; did she mean that she too felt a connection between them, or was it something else? He looked down, gritting his teeth; why did she have to be so vague...
"So that means --"
"Yes." She smiled.
He groaned. "Divya, can't you just tell me what you're trying to say clearly? I've been open with you so far," he accused.
Divya walked up to him; Sagar felt almost no hesitation from her this time. She grabbed his hand tightly and pulled it down, as if she was challenging him. "And why should I? Aapne joh samjha hai, uss hi thought pe rehna."
Sagar glanced down at his hand, and felt a sudden impulse surge inside him. Smiling slightly, he grabbed her waist lightly and pulled her towards him, leaving little distance for her to move. "So why don't you tell me what I was thinking, if you're so sure...", he breathed into her face.
... I know it's too long, but I felt I needed to write this much😳 I have to run, so again, apologise for any mistakes...!
