Sharad Malhotra wants to move on

Sharad Malhotra confirmed that he is leaving his debut show Banoo Main Teri Dulhann after three fruitful years as its lead. The actor, who will wind up with his character in the first week of May, says that he took a very long time to decide to quit. He now wants to explore new acting opportunities…but first, he's going to clean his house.

Why are you leaving?
I want to learn new things. I devoted three years of my life to this show and it has been number one and we are still struggling to make it the number one show again. But as an actor, I am always unsatisfied and I need to learn new things, work with new people. Though, I think that my producer is a great person and if I get the chance, I would like to work with him again.

Was deciding to quit tough?
Yes, it was a very tough decision for me. I thought about it twenty thousand times before coming to a final decision. But I want to take some time off for myself. The show started off in a great manner and now my character's track should end in a nice way too.

How did the production house Shakuntala react to your decision? Did they try to convince you to stay?
My production house was sad about it but they respected my decision and wished me luck in my career. I really appreciated that. They were shocked but when I explained myself, they didn't say anything.

And your costars?
It was announced that I am leaving only last week so my costars are still shocked. They are also sad about it. Initially, even my mother was not happy with my decision as she got to see me on TV everyday. But when I explained to her why I was leaving, she was happy and supported me.

With you gone, will the Dulhann soon wrap up?
No one should spread rumours about the show wrapping up because we actors and the production house are trying hard to make our show number one again. The channel has not taken any decision about the show's fate as of now.

How will your track end?
They are still working on that.

Will you miss going to the sets?
I am going to miss my show terribly. I got along well with everyone right from the director to my costars to the spot boys. The show is very dear to me as I debuted with it. When I think about my last day, meri aanken num ho jati hai.

What's next?
Right now, my mind is blank. But within a week I should get a clear picture. My first priority is to pay my bills and clean my house which I have not been able to do for a while! Then I'll look out for a new house in Mumbai. I won't be going on holiday; not even to my hometown in Kolkata.

Sharad starred as Sagar and Amar on Banoo Main Teri Dulhann. He was also a part of the reality show Cinestar Ki Khoj and dance reality Yeh Hai Jalwa.

Kamya Punjabi takes it slow

Sindoora has been missing from Banoo Main Teri Dulhan and that is because actress Kamya Punjabi, who portrays the role, has been coping with an ailment for which she was even hospitalised for.

KAMYA says, "I don't want to say what my illness is exactly but it is something related to the head. It is not major but at the same time, not that small either."
Due to her illness, Kamya was hospitalised for 15 days. She was discharged just three days ago. She says, "I fainted on the sets and had to be rushed to the hospital immediately. I feel really bad that Dulhan's track has to be changed because of me and they had to introduce a new villain."

The actress, who was already on medication while she was shooting for Dulhan, says that her hectic schedule aggravated the problem. She adds, "I was already unwell and the doctor told me to get good rest. But Dulhan is a daily so even if you try to take care, exhaustion toh ho hi jaata hai…"

Even so, Punjabi's production house has been extremely understanding of her condition. She says, "They did everything, right from feeding me to making sure I was comfortable. They used to give me glucose water and work-wise, they tried to wind up my scenes fast. But the distance between my house and the sets was a major contributing factor to my exhaustion. I stay in Kandivali and our set is in Sakinaka so traveling takes a lot of time."

The actress feels guilty that the show has to suffer because of her absence. She says, "I even went and spoke to the producer. I told him that he has the right to replace my character but he refused immediately saying, 'Sindoora can never be replaced!' I was really touched by his words."

Though her condition is now stable, Kamya is still really weak. "I am not even able to do my jobs properly; my mom and my husband help me out. If I want to take a walk too, I feel very weak. The doctor has advised me not to have outside food. I also avoid oily and spicy food. I have to take complete bed rest," says Kamya.

Now that she's been instructed not to exert, Kamya has taken to reading to while away time. She says, "I can't watch much TV as that is stressful to my brain. So, I've started reading books. My sister and my mom are here to keep me company and my nephew Kunal is also coming over soon."

Sharad Malhotra takes it easy post Dulhann

Sharad Malhotra will always be associated with his characters from Banoo Main Teri Dulhann. But sadly, we won't be seeing anymore of Sagar or Amar, as the actor completed shooting for his last day on the show.

SHARAD might have not had a very dramatic goodbye with tears and sobs, but it was quite emotional nonetheless. He reveals, "I felt really sad while leaving. I did have tears in my eyes and the others on set did too. I met and hugged everyone."
He adds, "I even bought gifts for everyone who worked on the show, including the spot boys and my costars. It was just a small token of my love and appreciation for them. I ended up giving a small speech too! After that, my production house threw me a farewell party and we cut around 4-5 cakes!"

After wrapping up, Sharad has taken a much needed break and has just been unwinding at home. He says, "Saturday was my last day on the sets but I haven't settled down to my new routine as yet. However, I did catch up on sleep! When I used to go on set, I would wake up as early as 7.30am, but now I get the chance to get up post noon!"

But it hasn't been all lazing around for the actor, who has taken his free time as an opportunity to hit the gym. Sharad says, "Now I get to work out twice a day. I couldn't do that while I was shooting."

Apart from sleeping and working out, the actor is considering other options. Sharad says, "Since I am getting into shape with weights, dieting and cardio, I will make use of it and get my portfolio done. After that, I plan on taking up a course in directing, lighting and the technical aspect of filmmaking."

In addition to his career plans, Sharad is planning on spending some quality time with the leading lady in his life… his mother. Sharad says, "I plan to go to Kolkatta for a few days to meet my mother. Or she might come here to meet me."

Zee TV's new show Aapki Antara takes up the slot of Maayka from June 1st which leaves a question mark on the future of Maayka... Read further..

Zee TV is all set to launch two new shows in prime time slots from the first week of June, one being Balaji Telefilms' Pavitra Rishtha which will be aired at 9 PM slot and the second is Drishtanth Production House show Aapki Antara which will be aired from June 1st at the 8.30 PM slot.

With this, Zee's long running show Maayka, produced by Creative Eye which presently occupies the 8.30 PM slot is put under the radar, and it seems as though there are 50-50 chances of the show either going off air or getting a new time slot.

We called up Ajay Bhalwankar, Programming Head, Zee TV on the same, but he said, "I cannot comment on Maayka right now".

We tried digging more into this, and called few actors who are part of Maayka. Neha Bamb who plays Mahi categorically said that the show cannot go off air as of now, "I think it will be shifted to the 8 PM slot which is getting vacant soon". Kanchi Kaul who essays the role of Soni too gave a similar answer.

Jayati Bhatia quotes, "Dheeraj ji told us that the show has got an extension till December. As far as I know, Maayka may shift to the Dulhann slot, but nothing is confirmed yet".

All our efforts to get in touch with Dheeraj Kumar of Creative Eye, were in vain..

However, according to our source, "Maayka might most probably get shifted to the 8 PM slot as of now. In months to come, there are chances of the show going off air, with the much-awaited historical Rani Lakshmi Bai of Contiloe taking its place".

However, to add to the confusion the buzz is that Dulhann which has now bagged an extension of four episodes might be on air till August, if things go one well.

When we talked to Divyanka Tripathi about the probable extension, she was rather surprised and said, "I am aware about the four episodes stretch. I was informed of this just yesterday by my production team. I readily agreed to it, as I had to give an extra of just six more days. But I am totally unaware of the longer extension which you are talking about. With Sharad not there, wonder how the creatives will manage to come up with an interesting story line if they do get this extension".

Kamya Punjabi also verbalized the same, "We will now be shooting till May 22nd, and the last day of airing will be on 28th May. I am not aware of any further extensions".

Well, the one thing we are sure of as of now, is that Aapki Antara is all set to take up the 8.30 PM slot on Zee TV from June 1st..

We need to now wait and watch to know what happens to Maayka and Dulhann in days to come..

Kamya: I didn't want my show to suffer at the end

Even though her show wrapping up this month, unwell Kamya Punjabi is making the effort to return to the sets of Banoo Main Teri Dulhan (Zee TV) because she doesn't want her show to suffer…even during its last days. And once the show wraps up, Kamya has plenty of plans, though the most important on her list is extending her family!

Punjabi says, "I've always been very dedicated and loyal when it comes to my work. Dulhan is and will always be very special to me; it is my show. Despite my illness, I came back because I didn't want my show to suffer now that it's nearing the end."
The actress hasn't been well for quite some time now; she was even hospitalized and has been advised to take complete rest. But Kamya insists that shooting isn't causing any problems for her. She says, "Since I've been home, the production people have booked a studio here in Kandivali itself for me. So I do not have to travel as much. Secondly, they've reduced my sequences and I don't shoot everyday. Also, I rest when I'm on the sets."

Talking about her health, she tells us, "I am feeling much better now. Luckily, my reports are normal. The doctor has strictly told me to avoid eating outside food and not to stress myself out. I am crazy about vada pav and pani puri but now, I have to keep away from that too."

Kamya says that the entire unit takes care of her when she is shooting. She adds, "I carry my dabba to the sets. My mom is there to take care of me at home and I even take my nephew Kunal to the sets with me. The Dulhan unit is like my other family. I don't need to worry as they are always there for me."

The news of the show shutting down still seems unreal to Punjabi. "As the days go by, it becomes more depressing. I'll miss everything about the show. The person I'll miss the most will be Sharad. Sharad was like my brother and we were like two naughty kids on the sets. I'll miss that masti and the many sweet memories we shared," she says.

As for the last day of the shoot, Kamya is planning something very exciting. She says, "I will be doing something for the entire unit. I am planning to throw a party which will include each and every person related to Dulhan."

Talking about her future plans, Kamya says, "Presently, I want to take a break and get some rest as I've not been keeping well. And now, as my priorities have changed, I'll be definitely planning to extend my family," she signs off.

Kamya Punjabi famously known as Sindoora of Banoo Main Teri Dulhann, is very happy that her three-year-long show is going to

end.

The married actress was having a tough time with her health and was difficult to start her plans for a family, thanks to the pressures. Kamya is married to Bunty Grewal, who is part of the film industry.

Asked how she was feeling on the show going off air soon, she says, "I'm happy it's ending at the right time and I can now concentrate on my family and even start my own family. But on the other hand I feel sad as I'll miss the whole crew and cast." She also adds, "I'm going to miss Sharad very much, as we used to play pranks around the unit and it was a lot of fun."

She confirms, "I'm soon planning to have a baby, and have also visited lots of gynaecologists. I am very much excited to start my new life, a whole new chapter of motherhood." She says she will also go for music classes.
