Sindoora back in Dulhann?

Kamya Punjabi who had made her exit from Banoo Mein Teri Dulhann two months back, will return soon in the show. The actress was brought back to help the serial deal with the falling TRPs.

"I really don't know when exactly I will be seen on the show as i haven't started shooting for it as yet. I was approached by the channel about 20 days back but my entry or nothing has been finalized till now," quips Kamya, "Sindoora has to come back with a bang so if her entry tack sounds interesting, she will definitely be back very soon."
Dulhann used to be at the top of the serial charts but over the past few months it has witnessed a fall in its popularity. So is that the reason why she being brought back?

"Aisa bilkul nahi hai ki Sindoora ke jaane ke baad se hi show is not doing well," she answers immediately. However she believes if she has to re-enter for the betterment of the show, she will not give it a second thought.

Kamya says she is too attached to the show and could never turn down the request of her producers.

"Dulhan is my family. I may have died in the show but that doesn't mean that I have lost the connection. I've been in touch with all my co-stars, the production house…in fact the entire unit. Just recently I went to celebrate my cameraman's birthday and yesterday only there was a card session at my place," she says.

Kamya says that she is so attached to the show, that despite having exited from the serial she still goes back to the sets on a regular basis.

"I visited the set yesterday only! I am very possessive about my make-up room so I make sure that I go and see it. In fact recently there was this scene where Sindoora's on screen husband (Rajesh Balwani) sat on this dining chair where I used to sit. So I immediately called Rajesh and told him how dare you sit on my chair! So that's how possessive I am about things," laughs the actress.

Is Divyanka insecure?

Well, from the way things seem to be going on the sets of Banoo Main Teri Dulhann, we can't help but ask that question.
Divyanka Tripathi and Sharad Malhotra (TOI Photo)

The entry of another actress, Anisha Kapoor has made things a little difficult for Divyanka Tripathi, who's close to actor Sharad Malhotra. Apparently, Divyanka doesn't approve of his getting too friendly with Anisha. The news is abuzz that since the entry of the parallel lead in Dulhann, Divyanka is feeling pretty insecure. And poor Sharad has to bear the brunt of this insecurity. She is keeping a complete tab on Sharad and pulling the reigns whenever required. Recently, Sharad said no to a wedding sequence to be shot between him and Anisha. He insisted the storyline be changed and kept on giving his suggestions. After much persuasion, Sharad finally agreed to just fill Anisha's forehead with sindoor rather than perform a complete wedding ceremony with saat pheras as per the storyline. Oh grow up people!

Happy Birthday Divyanka!

Gorgeous and elegant Divyanka Tripathi who plays Divya in Dulhan will turn 24 on December 14, which is tomorrow. The actress says she will enjoy her birthday at home as she is not working.

"I'll be celebrating my birthday with some of my very close friends; there is no party as such as I am not a party person. I will go out for dinner and then we'll go for Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi as I really want to see it" exclaims the birthday girl. "Shayad set par bhi mujhe mere birthday ka surprise milega celebration ke roop mein," she hopes.

Every year on her birthday, Divyanka loves to spend time with her family. Last year too her family flew all the way from her hometown Bhopal to Mumbai. "My family was here and the co-incidental part is that my mom's birthday is on the 13th and mine is on the 14th, but still we both celebrate it separately!" laughs the Dulhan girl.

Being a religious person, Divyanka lights diyas at her home and goes to the temple and prays for happiness and prosperity on her birthday every year. This year too she will visit the temple near her residence in Four Bungalows, Andheri. "I plan to go to Haji Ali and Siddhi Vinayak, so let's see how it works out and I dream of having a romantic dinner on the beach with my future love" wishes the actress.

And what gifts is the beautiful damsel is expecting?

"Our director, Ismail ji and his wife have already gifted me a beautiful set of candles and many more are expected tomorrow as for me 'gifts are a compulsion," she laughs.

Divyanka's most memorable birthday was the one she when she was in 10th standard "I had my board exams and I didn't go to any parties. So my mamma and Didi planned a birthday party for me where one of my close friends called me and convinced me to go to a hotel with her. It was only after I reached the hotel did I realize that it was for my birthday where all my friends were also invited," she fondly recollects.

Her most memorable and special gift has come from her younger brother Shanu. "Shanu gifted me a Barbie and to tell you the truth I've always craved for Barbie dolls. It was the sweetest gesture ever and I was really touched by that," signs off the effervescent lady.

We wish you are blessed with more name, fame and happiness with each passing year.

Sindoora's fun filled break

She may have been out of the show for some time, but Kamya Punjabi who plays vamp Sindoora in Dulhann enjoyed her two month break to the fullest.

"It has been a wonderful trip for me. Altogether, it was a combination of religion, fun, family… everything has been covered," exclaims the on screen vamp, adding, "This was the first and also the last time I will go to the US, thanks to my husband."

"We went to the casinos in Las Vegas and Disney World in Florida. From there we came back to India and visited Shimla and Bhubaneshwar and Jaggannath Puri in Orissa back home," informs Punjabi.

An excited Kamya tells us about her US trip. "I know this was my first and last trip to the US because it takes 18 hours from India to US so I don't think I'll get the opportunity to go there again. I don't like travelling as I am a very stay at home, family person. I love to stay at home and take care of my family. But once I have a kid, I would love to take him or her to Disney world in Florida."

The actress says she is a complete shopping freak, so she shopped till she dropped. "I am too obsessed with clothes and shoes, so that is something I pick up from everywhere. I am too ashamed to admit it but I shopped Rs. 20 lakhs!!!" exclaims Kamya. But did that include anything for her hubby? "Yes, we bought a laptop, shoes, boots and some clothes too, but I have mainly shopped for myself," she laughs.

After her US trip, she headed to her in laws' place in Shimla for four-five days. "It has been a long time since I met them but I couldn't stay there for long because it was too cold there and I fell sick even after wearing enough warm clothes," she says.

After the cold climes of Shimla, she moved to humid and religious Orissa. Being a religious person, Kamya visited the Bhubaneshwar and Jaggannath Puri temples. She says, "I am very religious, Ganpati is a big festival at my place and I do pooja every morning. The temples I visited were great."

After she returned from her mind blowing trip, she celebrated Diwali in a very special way this year. "During Diwali this year, I painted my house myself and I even decorated it with candles…it was simply beautiful!!!" she exclaims, her eyes lighting up.

So, Kamya has thoroughly enjoyed her break which began in mid-October but she has already started shooting for Dulhaan and her character will make a comeback on the show in January 2009.

    Divyanka Tripthi: Shopaholic in Dubai

Divyanka Tripathi won the award for best actress at the recently concluded Platinum Awards which took place in Dubai. Divyanka says she had great sun in her two day break in Dubai and the icing on the cake was winning the award for best actress.

"Dubai is a fabulous city. They have developed it so well even though they had no resources with them. It was a very good tour. I have been to a few malls and hotels over there. I did shop a lot. The dress I wore for award ceremony…I bought it from there only."

"Actually what happened is that when I went with Sharad (Malhotra) for the rehearsals of his performance, I realized that it was pretty cold and so Sharad and I went for shopping. The malls over there are so huge that you will not finish roaming a mall at one visit. I bought that black dress as it has thick material and I bought one shawl also so that it would keep my hands warm. I have bought so many woolen clothes because they are durable," she adds.

"Then I also bought shoes which are branded which can go with jeans then I also bought confectionaries like chocolates and little jewellery which I really liked a lot. Over all I spent 50 thousand on shopping but it is worth it because such stuff we do not get here and I hardly get a chance to shop over here. Like one shawl I bought from London two years back which I am using right now also," says the shopaholic.

Divyanka and Sharad stayed at Sharad's cousin's place who happens to stay in Dubai.

" Sharad's cousin played guide to us and because of them only we could manage to visit so many places. We started our tour at 2am at the Burj Al Jazeera Hotel. It is like a cell on a ship and then the Atlantis… they have a huge aquarium and they have 250 species and a shark…it was lovely to see. Then we went to a place called 360 degree where you can learn and do ice skating the entire year but I could not do it as I had no time to learn it. Most importantly I got to see a stretch limo! We clicked pictures with the car," gushes the actress.

Talking about award function she says, "The function was amazing and there were so many veterans around us and receiving an award in front of them is like honour for me. Performances were also very good. I was happy but I still felt bad as Sharad did not get the award. I did not feel like celebrating as he did not get but we partied with his cousins."

Have you ever imagined what gift will the likes of Rahul Mahajan, Malaika Arora and Smriti Iraani aspire from Santa Claus? Tellychakkar decided to put on its thinking cap and choose the most appropriate gift(s) for few of our colourful celebrities.

    Kamya Punjabi

Divyanka should be relieved of her duties from Dulhann. She doesn't work as hard as I do yet she takes away all the limelight. Oh Santa, please make her pay for messing with me.

    Kamya and Divyanka at loggerheads

Actress Divyanka Tripathi is very upset with co-star Kamya Punjabi. The actress says that Kamya has spoken very badly about her and Sharad Malhotra's relationship. This hasn't gone down well with her.

Talking about misunderstanding Divyanka says, "Actually Kamya ne mera aur Sharad ka naam galat tarike se uchala tha without knowing the truth. You know we all are here to work. I have come here to become a good actress and I do not want to get involved in such things. Both of us felt bad when she said all that. Now we have decided to forget everything."

"We work like a family over here and a family believes in forgetting each others' mistakes. I love my Dulhann family, so there is no such thing like I will take any revenge. Further, we all are professionals and fine actors so we will surely shoot with each other. We will talk casually and everything will be like before. I never have that attitude where I will think negative about anyone or I will feel jealous of anyone. Such statements make us feel bad that's all. But I believe in living life happily everyday," says Divyanka rather diplomatically.

On the other hand, Kamya feigns ignorance at Divyanka's cause of anger. She tells us, "I do not know anything about it. I do not understand what she is talking about. We were in Dubai recently with each other and there we had no problem with each other. You can ask any unit members to find out more. I think she is talking about the day the media came on the sets but I do not know why she is talking about it now. I do not remember anything about it and I do not want to comment on it."

Sources from the set say that Kamya linked Divyanka and Sharad romantically and this got the lead couple very upset. As a result Kamya was forced out of the show for some time and now that the issue has been resolved, the production house is bringing her back. Kamya's re entry as Sindoora is expected to take place next month.
