Sagar had promised it would be a hell of a ride and it was. Vidya got off the bike holding on to her helmet as she felt a little dizzy. She had no idea where he had brought her. She took her helmet off and shook her head to make sure that she was still alive. She had thought that a car ride was an adventure when Sagar was driving but she was clearly wrong. She nearly screamed every time he made a fast turn but instead she closed her eyes and held on tight. Bikes, why do men love them so much, she always asked herself. But today she knew. She looked towards Sagar and smiled. He looked great on his bike. Why did he collect all the cars in the world.. He should collect bikes she thought. She shook her head. No, bikes are more dangerous. She wouldn't like it if something were to happen to him.
Sagar turned off his bike engine and then took off his helmet. He looked towards Vidya and smiled seeing her messed up hair.
"You know, I thought the plane ride was awesome but I would give up the plane ride for a bike ride any day!" Vidya said smiling.
"That's my girl!" he said very proudly."
Vidya was taken by surprise when Sagar got off his bike and standing in front of her fixed her hair. She could swear she felt the ground under her feet move. But that could be because of the awesome bike ride, she thought. Acting like it didn't affect her; she handed her helmet to Sagar and asked "where are we?" Sagar placed both of the helmets in their place and looked around and said, "It looks like a parking lot to me." Vidya smirked and replied "I meant where are we headed after you are done parking"
Sagar smiled as he shoved the keys in his pocket and put his hand in Vidya's hand and said "We are going to walk on these pretty streets."
Vidya smiled as she felt herself being pulled by Sagar as he started walking. She looked towards her hand that was in his hand. They fit perfectly, she thought. What was he doing to her? First he called her "his girl!" and now holding hands. Before she started day dreaming, she decided to speak. "Are you doing this to torture me, Sagar?"
He looked back at her. "What? How am I torturing you?"
"The one day I decide to wear heels you decide to take a walk on the streets."
He smiled as he looked towards her feet. "I could always carry you back if your feet start hurting."
She rolled her eyes and said "sure!"
He smiled and continued walking. They walked on the streets hand in hand. Vidya had never been happier. Seeing the simplest things made her happy and seeing her happy Sagar became very happy. Vidya spotted an ice-cream shop and jumped as a little girl and ran towards the shop. Sagar standing at the same spot smiled. Ice-cream, that is exactly what he had in mind, chocolate ice-cream to be exact. He was busy in his thoughts when he saw Vidya running out of the shop. A little bit of ice-cream and she was running in heels. Maybe he should have offered her ice-cream sooner.
"Aren't you going to buy me some ice-cream?" she asked bluntly.
He laughed and walked inside the shop behind Vidya.
They enjoyed their ice-cream walking on the streets seeing the beautiful streets and the lovely busy people that kept passing. Vidya was almost finished with her ice-cream when Sagar pointed towards a boutique and said "this is the place we need to go to."
Vidya raised a brow as she saw the fancy title of the boutique and then looked towards Sagar in confusion. "Why do we need to go in there?"
"Because they have the gown you are going to wear to the ball tomorrow. I already told them to hold it for you. They just need your size."
Vidya raised a brow. He already picked a gown. How long had he been planning this? She wondered. Alright, she would give it a try. There was always a first time for everything. She might as well put on a gown too while she was at it.
Inside the boutique, Vidya saw so many beautiful gowns and most of them she would never wear because of their revealing nature. Sagar sat in the lobby while Vidya looked around waiting for her gown to arrive. She was curious to see what Sagar had picked out for her. Finally, the lady walked out with her gown. It was red, a very pretty and bright red. Vidya looked towards Sagar when the lady asked her to try it on. She narrowed her eyes on him before walking to the dressing room. Before trying on the gown she looked at it carefully. It was beautiful; she had to admit that much. It was simple yet elegant. But she gasped when she saw the back. It was almost backless. It would reveal way more than Vidya would be comfortable showing, especially now that her hair was short. She was about to storm out of the dressing room ready to shout at Sagar for picking such a dress. But she stopped as her mind worked. She smiled and thought she would try a different tactic.
Sagar looked up as Vidya walked out of the dressing room. He was expecting to see her in a red dress but instead she walked out in the same clothes she was wearing earlier. "Is there something wrong with the gown?" he asked.
"No. Actually I was thinking, what if we went with a different color."
"I like red." He told her.
"Yes red is a pretty color and any other time you would ask me to wear it, I would. But I don't think it is the right color choice for the job I am going to be doing." She stated being confident in her position. She noticed the confused look on his face and came closer to him. At first, Sagar thought Vidya was trying to hug him but then realized she was coming closer to whisper something in his ear. "I am going to be stealing a very expensive diamond necklace. I wouldn't want to stand out in a color like red." She had a point, he thought as Vidya backed away. "I think we should go with black. You can never go wrong with black. It's always in." She said looking around to find a black gown. Sagar smiled as she called the lady for help. She called herself a tomboy, he thought while shaking his head. She was a girly girl hidden somewhere deep inside. Maybe she never let her out, he thought. They spent hours trying to find the dress. The one Vidya would like, Sagar would hate and vice versa. Finally, one dress pleased both of them. Though Vidya hated the fact that it was a strapless gown, she decided she would deal with it. Compared to the other dresses she saw, it didn't show that much skin. Vidya walked out of the dressing room wearing the dress and Sagar sighed. She looked so beautiful. The simple strapless gown made her look like a classy beauty. He noticed that Vidya had her hand on her chest. Probably trying to hold up her dress in fear that it would fall, he thought.
Vidya saw herself in the mirror and thought she pulled it off well. She shifted her glance in the mirror and saw Sagar standing in the back. His eyes were glued to her. She looked towards his eyes and was shocked to see the look in his eyes. She knew that look. It was the look of want, a desperate want. She couldn't believe it. Sagar Partap Singh, a guy every girl would want, wanted her. Holy crap! What the hell was she going to do now? Knowing the type of person he was, he would probably tell her sooner or later about what was going through his mind. No, she told herself. It could never happen. She would not let Sagar get to her. She was going to steal the necklace for him and then go back to her life. Nothing was going to happen between them, she told herself. She immediately rushed back to the dressing room to change because she could not take another minute of the way Sagar was eyeing her.
Sagar saw her running back into the dressing room and closed his eyes as he sighed.
They walked out of the boutique in silence. Vidya made sure there was a distance between them when they walked because she wouldn't want Sagar holding her hand again. Sagar noticed the fact that Vidya was acting very weird. "Are you okay?" He asked.
"I am fine." She replied quickly without looking at him.
"You are acting very weird. Did I miss something?" he asked as they continued walking.
She tucked her hair behind her ears. "Can we go back now? I don't feel like seeing anything anymore."
Sagar sensed that Vidya seemed tensed. Maybe her feet were starting to hurt because of her shoes, he thought. "Okay. We will go back." He said and started walking." Vidya deliberately stayed a few steps behind him. On the way back to the parking lot they both remained silent. Sagar sat on his bike and handed Vidya her helmet. He started the bike engine and put his helmet on. Vidya sat behind him and he noticed that when she held on to him for a grip this time, it was a very awkward grip. He could feel her tensed arms around him. What was wrong with her? Did he do something? He couldn't figure it out and it was bothering him that Vidya was keeping something from him. Though he hadn't known her for long, he had gotten used to her personality and he knew something was definitely up.
They reached the house and Vidya quickly got of the bike and walked inside the house quickly. She reached all the way to her bedroom and closed the door shut behind her. She had no idea what she was doing. She thought it was for the best if she managed to avoid Sagar for another day. Then there would be the ball and then the flight home. That was it. Because she very well knew that if Sagar told her that he was interested in her, she would melt like wax and fall into every trap that he threw her way. She knew better than that. She was not going to let anything happen. How could she? Chinu would kill her, but before he could get to her Sanju would kill her. She bit her nail as she sat on the bed. But what if she did let something happen, she thought about the possibility. She wanted Sagar and according to the look she saw in Sagar's eyes, he wanted her. Then why couldn't there be something? She dropped back on the bed and held back a scream. She closed her eyes and said "there can't be anything, Vidya, because you seem to have fallen in love with him while he only wants you for a while." She lay there for a few minutes but then immediately sat up when she heard the door open.
Sagar stood at the door looking very concerned. "Are you alright, Vidya? You don't seem like yourself today."
Nope, she wasn't. She bit her tongue and realized that Sagar was not going to leave her alone until she came back to herself. She sighed and said "It's nothing. I am a little homesick. That's all."
Sagar smiled and walked into the room. "That's it? I was worried I might have done something to make you angry…" he said as he came and sat on the bed next to her.
Aww… he was worried. Vidya's heart swam with joy. Not that she enjoyed Sagar being worried but she liked the fact that he cared for her. She took a deep breath clearing her mind and reminding herself that there is no need to be worried. As long as Sagar didn't tell her how he felt, she had nothing to worry about.
Sagar saw her thinking and extended a hand to try to touch her face but Vidya backed away as soon as she saw his hand. "Can you not touch me?" She said looking directly at him. He brought his hand back and smiled and said "Does it make you uncomfortable?"
"Yes! It does make me very uncomfortable and I don't appreciate the fact that you wipe my tears or fix my hair or hold my hand or whatever you do. Just stop it!" Her voice rose at the last sentence.
"Fine, I will stop it. It's not my fault you have your emotions confused."
"I do not have my emotions confused…" she said rising from the bed in anger "You think you know everything, don't you? Well, let me make something clear to you. I do not feel any emotion for you! No emotion!" She didn't realize that she had started shouting.
Sagar saw her pink cheeks and smiled. She was a terrible liar. "I never said you felt emotions for me."
She could kill him. Why did he have to smile at everything? He saw that she was out of words and asked "Do you want to go get something to eat?"
"What?"
"I am hungry. I was thinking of getting something to eat. Do you want to join me?"
She could join him. She realized that she was not uncomfortable around him anymore. It was only when he looked at her in the boutique. If he didn't look at her that way again, she was good. She sighed and said "Okay. Let's go get something to eat."
Sagar wasn't born yesterday. He knew Vidya was trying to avoid him and he knew the reason. He smiled thinking that maybe seducing Vidya would not be as difficult as he thought. She had already fallen for him and now realized it. Obviously, by keeping distance from him she was putting restrains on herself because she was unsure of what she might do if he made a move on her. He liked the whole situation. If Vidya was planning on keeping her distance from him, he was going to make sure that didn't happen. He always got what he wanted and he was not going to let Vidya be an exception.
Vidya wondered what Sagar had in his mind for food. He got up from the bed and started walking. He turned and saw Vidya standing at the same spot. "Well, what are you waiting for?"
