The Manuscript Marauders Bingo Challenge Thread
Sagar was in disbelief and unsure if he heard correctly what Vidya just asked him. "Did you just ask me what I think you asked me, Vidya?"
Vidya saw the look on his face. She wasn't sure what that look was. She knew he had made it clear that he would rather have his maid than her. Maybe it was a look guys gave before rejecting a girl. She laughed, "Don't worry Sagar. I know I am not your type. I just want to sleep here. I'll sleep on the floor if you want me to"
It hit Sagar that Vidya was probably still scared of the movie and didn't want to be alone. Who told her to watch paranormal activity all by herself? He smiled "Nah! You can sleep on the bed." He looked to his right. "I'll be here until you fall asleep and then I'll go to one of the other rooms."
Vidya got up immediately as she looked scared again. "You mean you are going to leave when I fall asleep?"
"Is that a problem?" Sagar asked.
Vidya put her hair behind her ears as she got up from the bed. "The attacks always happened in the movie when the people were asleep. What if the chudail gets me when I am sleeping?"
Sagar laughed. Just when he thought he knew Vidya she had him convinced that there was a lot more to her than met the eye. "How can you be a thief and steal in the middle of the night when it is pitch dark and then be scared of a movie to this extent? It doesn't make sense, Vidya."
"Well, when I am stealing Chinu is always with me. With him around I am not scared of anything. And as far as the scary movie thing goes, I have always been sacred of them. Whenever I watch a scary movie, I make Sanju sleep with me."
Sagar raised a brow. "Sanju? Is that your boyfriend?"
Vidya laughed. "Sanju is a girl, silly!"
"It sounds like a guy's name."
Vidya moved to the bed again. This time she got under the covers as she still sat on the bed. "Well, her real name is Sanjana. But she likes being called Sanju. She likes it because it kind or rhymes with Chinu. Didn't you see Sanju when you were spying on me?"
Sagar saw the way she was sitting on his bed. She made herself very comfortable, which was making him very uncomfortable. What the hell was he supposed to do now? Just when he convinced himself to prevent opportunities, Vidya seemed to be making it very difficult. He walked over and sat on the chair on his right. He made sure there was a lot of distance between them. "No. I don't think I saw Sanju. You were always with that Rohit guy or your brother, most of the time you were by yourself."
Vidya noticed the fact that Sagar kept his distance from her. It saddened her a little. She of course thought that it was because he didn't feel attracted to her at all and that she wasn't good enough for him. She understood that already. He didn't have to make it more obvious. She sighed as she thought to herself.
Sagar saw her thinking and said "Can you try to go to sleep now. You scared little kid"
Vidya smiled. "Why? So you can run out of here. I am sorry for being so much trouble. I know you must hate spending time with me. Its okay I understand. I know I am not the most fun or the most beautiful girl to be around."
Sagar raised a brow as he looked towards Vidya and saw the look in her eyes. She looked sad and so unaware of how beautiful she truly was. Where was all the confidence and attitude he saw in her just few moments ago when she was ready to kick his butt. He knew that telling Vidya how beautiful she was and what he felt for her would be a mistake. So instead he just said the first thing that popped into his mind "Where did that come from, Vidya?"
Vidya didn't know where that came from. She had always been clever but Sagar was making her feel things she had no experience with. She was unable to control her emotions and even her words. At first she thought she was infatuated with Sagar. But she realized that the more time she spent with him the more she was pulled towards him. She never thought she would fall for anyone like this. She hated the clichd romance, poor girl falling in love with a rich guy. But now she found herself in the same situation. She cleared her head and realized she just used the word "love" in her thoughts. That can't be it, she told herself. He is arrogant and snobby, why would I love him, she asked herself. But she smiled as she looked at his awaiting eyes for a reply. Oh, those beautiful eyes. She wanted to scream out everything that was running through her mind but instead said "I don't know, Sagar." She rested her head on the pillow and lying down on the bed looked towards him and said "I trust you, Sagar."
His heart skipped a beat. Nothing had ever touched him more than those words. She trusted him. Not a smart move on her part but he was touched. He smiled and said "Thank you."
She looked towards the empty side of bed. "You can come to bed, you know."
He bit his tongue. Why was she hell bent on making things so difficult for him? "Are you sure?" he asked. Even though he knew his answer should have been a "No" for his own sanity's sake. But if Vidya was hell bent on driving him crazy, he was going to go for the ride.
Vidya smiled and said "Yeah. Because I know you are not stupid enough to try anything. And even if you did, I would kill you. If I am unsuccessful, which is very unlikely, Chinu will make sure you are dead. So if you like living, you will not try anything."
Sagar laughed. "I do like living. So I guess I better not try anything. I'll try my very best."
Vidya laughed because she thought Sagar was joking. If only she knew how serious he was. Sagar got up from his chair and stopped as he was about to remove his shirt. He took few steps closer to the bed and said "I have a habit of sleeping in my boxers only, Vidya. Is that going to be a problem with you?"
Vidya blushed just at the thought and pretended as if she didn't care and said "I already saw you in your swimming shorts. I don't care." He smiled as he saw her flushed cheeks and knew that she cared. She closed her eyed and pretended like she was going to sleep as Sagar walked towards the other side of the bed as he took off his shirt and then removed his sweatpants. Vidya was turned away from. He saw her back and smiled and knew that she was wide awake.
Vidya opened her eyes when she felt Sagar get into bed. He turned off the lamp from his side as he got under the sheets. Vidya without moving turned her head and saw Sagar's back and smiled. She stared in admiration at the birthmark on his back near his right shoulder. It was the weirdest shape but it looked so beautiful on his skin. There was so much space between them but still Vidya's heartbeat fastened. Now there was a reason to love the scary movies, she thought to herself. And just as she did her fear was back again. She looked towards the window and got even more scared. She turned and was on her back now and looked at the ceiling for what seemed like an eternity to her. In reality it was not that long. She looked towards Sagar again and saw his back. She whispered "Sagar, do you hear that?"
Sagar in a sleepy voice replied "Yeah. It's you talking. Go to sleep."
"I am serious. I think I hear something moving."
Sagar pulled a pillow over his head to cover his ears. "Go to sleep, Vidya. There is nothing here."
"I think there is something by the windowâŚ"
Before Vidya could go on Sagar brought the pillow down and turned and looking at her said "If you don't shut up and go to sleep, I am going to kick you out, Vidya."
Vidya closed her eyes and said "Good night."
Sagar smiled as he turned back around. Vidya felt him turn around and opened her eyes and turning towards him moved a little closer. If a ghost was going to come this way she could poke Sagar instead of talking.
Sagar woke up right on his schedule just like every day. He didn't need an alarm. He woke up at seven and just like every morning wanted to raise his arms for a stretch before getting out of bed. But before he even had the opportunity he realized that he was not the only one on his bed today. He looked to his right and saw Vidya sleeping. He smiled as he saw that Vidya was hugging his right arm as if she was holding on to him to make sure he wouldn't run away. Sagar moved his arm trying to bring it out of her grip. She was still asleep. She felt his arm move and letting it go she turned to the other side, when she turned her shirt shifted giving Sagar the view to her bare waist. Sagar sighed as he saw the beautiful mole of her waist and got up quickly before he lost control over his hands. He shook his head as he walked to the bathroom and said "I hate you for this, Vidya."
It was seven fifteen when one of the maids was headed towards Sagar's room with his coffee. She knew that he liked his coffee right after he got out of shower. She also knew he didn't react well when the coffee was not there when he got out of the shower. She opened the door and was surprised as she saw the bed. She looked towards the clock to make sure she wasn't early. She was on time. She walked into the room as she decided to set the coffee for Sagar anyway. Just as she walked she looked towards the bed again and was shocked at first when she saw Vidya there but then she grinned as her mind worked. Just then Sagar came out of the bathroom in his bathrobe. The maid immediately looking at him said "Good morning, sir." Vidya heard the maid and opened her eyes and yawned. The maid looked towards Vidya and then Sagar again and rushed out of the bedroom grinning. Sagar smiled and looking towards Vidya said "We are going to be the gossip of the day, Vidya."
Vidya looked at him and closed her eyes again turning away from him. Obviously, she wanted to go back to sleep. Getting up that early was insane, according to Vidya. Sagar saw her turning as he grabbed his coffee mug and smiled as he decided he was not going to let Vidya sleep in. Maybe he would take her swimming with him. He looked down towards his robe and realized the fact that he just showered. Oh well, he thought and decided he would go swimming. He smiled as he sipped his coffee and wondered how he was going to get Vidya out of bed.
