Part Eight

She turned to see Amar there. Their eyes locked and they didn't know how to express their feelings after meeting for so many weeks apart. She felt him staring at with intensity. She stepped back a bit. He noticed she had lost weight. He stepped a bit closer. She noticed he had a slight limp.

Divya looked back into his eyes. This wasn't like the time on that street in Delhi. The situation had changed. That time when she left Beneras, at least she had a way to move on. They weren't really bound by a rishta back then. Besides she had purposely created a rift between them so Bindiya could be happy. This time others and bad luck had created a rift. Back in Delhi he refused to believe her. Her eyes turned from bright to teary. His expression changed from simply gazing to concern and guilt.

Suddenly he looked behind her and saw something unpleasant. He pulled her to stand beside him. Viren was still wandering around with an empty beer bottle.

Amar was about to go beat him when he felt a hand on his. He turned to look at Divya.

"He's too far gone. Let's go inside. I'll get changed then we can talk," she said.

Amar nodded.

They met Gayatari on the way, Amar was stunned to see her as well. She said she would explain later. First they had to settle their situation. Amar and Divya exchanged looks but continued to walk inside behind her.

Gayatari sat with Amar when Divya headed up the stairs.

"She's lost weight," he commented.

Gayatari sighed.

"Yes she has been waiting for you Amar. I guess those divorce papers weren't send by you," she commented.

Amar looked puzzled.

"Well anyway now that you are here, you need to make it up to her. Uska ka khayal tumhe rakna pardega," she stated.

Amar nodded.

Divya was about to go downstairs when someone called her phone. It was her father-in-law.

" Amar is here," she stated.

Rajeev sighed.

" I hope you two can find a way to get through this rough patch. I care about both of you. Don't tell Amar, but I'll be back soon," he stated.

" Theek hai. See you later," she stated.

She walked down the stairs. Amar smiled as she looked beautiful in the pink and orange salwaar kameez she was wearing. Gayatari sat back and enjoyed the lovely scene before her eyes.

However as Divya approached the table she felt weary. She put a hand on her hand. Amar quickly got up and came over to her side.

Gaytari got up from her chair and came over as well.

" Divya kya hogaya. Tum theek toh ho?," Amar inquired.

He took a hold her arm and guided her to the chair. Gayatari got an idea from watching this scene. She would inform Rajeev soon, so he would go along with it.

" Amar see I told you she doesn't eat on time and she probably skipped her breakfast again today. This silly girl! Maybe you can handle her!," she said in exasperation.

Divya gave her a wide eyed look but didn't say anything.

Later as Amar and Divya were talking in her room, Gayatari met Rajeev at the door and told him about her plan.

" We'll make Amar think Divya really needs him. She will realize his love is still there. It just needs to come out again," Gayatari insisted.

Rajeev grinned.

" Let's hope this works! Sooner these two get together, the sooner our family can be together again!" he declared.
