I think starting the Motiben raaz along with the change in Hiten-Khemi relationship has been done for a purpose. I think the raaz would be that Hiten is not DM's son, but the son of Khanji Waghela. Maybe DM's child died at birth, but not wanting to burden DM with the grief of losing his first son, Motiben and Shubi had taken the child that Kanji Wagela's wife delivered (maybe after paying him off).
Coming to the entire twisted love story of Hiten and Khemi, all I want is that this love story should not be sacrificed at the alter of an incongruous marriage between an 18 year old and a 50 year old, a marriage which is still not fully accepted by the 50 year old. If they show that these two young and very much in love people had to sacrifice their love for the sake of this incongrous marriage, nothing can be more regressive. As to Hiten-Khemi love story beiong like any other Ekta story, excuse me. I have not seen any other Ekta story having such a complicated love story. It is not simply a hate - turned -to-love story. In fact is is Santo-DM type of story (older man marrying a younger girl out of compulsion and then falling for her goodness) which has already been seen in Kasam Se. Ofcourse the low-caste-high caste angle is new. So too the twisted relationship in the case of Hiten-Khemi is new. So let us not over simplify things just because we like a particular pair.
As to Santo behaving the way she did, I would give her some margin. She was acting impulsively and immaturedly. She could not digest what she saw and reacted on the basis of it. But she did feel bad about hitting her elder sister and wept in guilt. I hope she will finally comes around to unting the two love birds but for that, this raaz (that Hiten is not DM's son) would have to break, which I think it would on the day of the wedding.
