I agree. That has been debated by many socialites.Learning martial arts should be a choice not compulsion.

Rapes of innocent little babies happen because of extremely sicko minds.
We can't be sitting there for their sick brains to get better.
This sickness is centuries old and it will take that many centuries to get cured.
Till the minds get changed some thing needs to be done. Make women stronger from inside.
If people think that making women stronger is useless thing I cannot say anything.
They say doing something is better than doing nothing.
If one wants wait for the mind sets to change it will take a long time till then something has to be done.

Self defence is fine..its not bad...those whp wnat to learn it can do so no probs.
All rapists are not sick people..they are very much sane. They do it just coz they know they can get away with it.
80% of rapes are not reported in India coz of social stigma attached to the victim. They r spoiled good afterall who wld marry a raped non virgin 😕

In 90% of rapes the rapist is known to the survivor. This a fact...gang rapes were a rarity which has now become more rampant because low conviction rates and general fearlessness of law.

This self defence message has been arnd in media since the 80s...everytime something happens the media is full of advise abt girl being strong and able to defend themselves...sadly this is not the only way...Why not give other message too like men shld not rape and laws shld stricter etc.
Why always woman are advised to be cautious.I am not against self defence But I am fed up of same message again n again...can we hav something diff like blaming the men for once.

Teaching women martial arts makes them stronger?? 🤔 I think its a mockery of a woman's strength. If she can give birth to a child shes obviously strong. By nature she has been made physically delicate and internally strong. And its expected that men respect that. And if they fail to do so law shud make them do it.

Kiran - I think we shu7d step out of this topic because most here r not intrested in answering and counter replying our honest queries. They are just keen to prove their point. If u want to answer pls tell:

How can u protect handicapped girls from molestation with self defence?

How can u protect 6-7 yr old girls using self-defence??

How can u protect ill or injured girls using self defence??

How can u protect pregnant women with self defence??

How can u protect foreign nationals from molestation with self defence.

Answer and i shall stand convinced.

Curing a sick mind will take centuries to cure if people keep insisting that girls should be stronger, dress appropriately, stay indoors. These so called sick minds are given the licence to be 'sick' because of this mentality. Funny how these same 'sickos' are functioning just fine in society. Fear of the law, enforcement of the law is the need f the hour. Not telling girls how to behave. Educating boys is the need f the hour. It's time a spade was called a spade. Reality is that India being a patriarchal society, keeps allowing men to get away with things. That why even tv shows are afraid to take the bull by the horns. Worse is that some women are promoting this thinking of keeping this patriarchal system in place. Why are men's rights always protected? Why?

@Malika...your questions are very valid and i completely understand your point ! you are right self-defence can't be the right answer any of your questions, why just these, a woman with good self-defence skills can still be raped !

it is just one of the first few steps to complete this solution to rape! and unfortunately it is the only quickly implementable option available to us for now 😕 it would atleast help to put up a good fight and if the victim is lucky...she may get help.

Teaching girls self defense still requires visiting institutions, workplaces and actually talking, demonstrating this stuff. Same would be required in educating boys. So why is it so difficult to implement the latter?

Changing and enforcing laws need not be tedious and drawn out if a govt is serious about protecting its citizens. Why can't it be implemented quickly?

I am glad dear atleast you have the guts to agree with something whats right even if we dont agree on some other things. Not all can put aside there ego and do it.😊

And as u said self-defence is just hit and trial. But we dont need a hit n trial. We need a full proof solution. And though changing mindsets takes time enforcing laws doesnt.Would take lesser time than training millions of girls in martial arts.Just imagine if a rapists has fear in his mind that if he tries to rape a women he will be made to rot in jail whole life or he will be given death sentence obviously he will think 100 times before doing anything like this.If BV really has guts they shud show Anandi and Shiv taking a protest march against court not giving quick judgement in such cases.Shiv's sister was molested but he has forgotton that case. Its obvious BV wants to create an impression they are supporting social causes jabki they r not adressing the real issue.
