Hi music maniac, I am really happy to see another anandi critic on the forum 😆 . We are a minority on the forum. 😃
I too found the scene revolting ... but I think this probably makes sense in some vague contextual framework.
Anandi has always made a distinction between the city bred evil jagat and his good village bumpkin alter ego jagya.
She has always been under some sort of mental delusion that one day her jagya would come back to her -- the same one who left jayetsar in the pre-gauri era. She really felt that gauri's husband was some stranger jagat -- someone she didnt recognize and someone she didnt relate to.
She never really received closure on jagya (the good jagya) before moving on to shiv. She never put that hope to rest. So that hope has still remained alive.
Even though we know Jagadish came back to Jayetsar ages ago -- his behaviour of revenge, pushing people against the wall, etc. still had lots of jagat interspersed with the good in him.
Yesterday was the first time since the whole jagat-gauri saga started that anandi had a clear glimpse of just Jagya -- the one that she wanted to come back to her. To suddenly see jagya in front of her -- the loving, sweet, sensitive kind jagya was just too much to bear for her. She suddenly started being wistful again.
It is not appropriate for her to behave the way she did i agree, but from a long term contextual backdrop, when we factor in her history, her reluctance about shiv makes perfect sense.
I'm not saying its appropriate, just that it is understandable if we see the backdrop of who anandi is and what her mental paradigm was (il.e. making a distinction between jagdish and jagya)
