CHAPTER-3
All the students got ready for their first day of the exhibition. Anandi was doing a very excellent job and hers was the best project in that room. Shiv was very impressed not only by her project but by her confidence too. Shiv's presentation was related on chemistry and he and Suguna prepared well and were also performing well, but was not as confident as Anandi was. Anandi was excited that her project was doing well. In between the presentations when there were no persons to visit, Anandi and Suguna shared some friendly talks and Shiv was surprised by the way these two girls were interacting with each other. Shiv slowly asked Suguna about how she knows Anandi and Suguna said that she is her neighbor and her friend since childhood. Shiv was excited now. He did not know why but he was getting attracted to this girl named Anandi.
Shiv has found many girls in his life so far who are very beautiful and sexier than Anandi is, yet he was never interested in them, but he found something special in Anandi and he just could not get his eyes of this dusky beauty sitting in front of him. Shiv never missed a chance of glancing at Anandi whenever he got a chance. The first day went very well and they departed to their homes. After reaching home Anandi started off with her daily chores at house as usual. Shiv also left home but was not in his usual self.. Thoughts of Anandi and her image always flashed in front of his eyes. He was disturbed since he first met Anandi and this was a new experience to him. The next 4 days went very well with everyone except for Shiv, as he could not resist himself from being away from Anandi and used every opportunity to be with her, like having lunch along with Suguna and Anandi and wenever Suguna and Anandi were together Shiv also was present, and it was the last day of the presentation and the best project was to be awarded by the district educational officer and out of all the projects exhibited, Anandi's project got the second prize, the first was grabbed by some other college. Apart from that there were some programs like dancing and singing also from various students of various colleges.
Shiv was very impressed by Anandi, her simplicity, and her down to earth behavior. Shiv wanted to gain more information about her and hence searched for Anandi and went to her. He found that she was standing along with Suguna. Shiv took the courage and went where the girls were standing. Shiv congratulated Anandi on her achievement and she kindly thanked him. Shiv could not speak anything to Anandi as he was tensed for the very first time to speak to a girl so he just stood there listening to the girls chatting. Shiv was the bestest friend of Suguna and hence she dint mind his presence there, but was surprised as Shiv never did such a kind of thing at all. Suguna was sure that there is something cooking in Shiv's mind as she has been observing his changed behavior since the exhbition started and she thought of asking him when they both were alone. After chatting for about 10 minutes Anandi and her partner bid bye to Suguna and Shiv and left to their homes.
Suguna asked Shiv wats the matter to which he replied that nothing he just came to congratulate Anandi. Suguna understood his intentions and then was about to move when Shiv held her hand and asked her to spend some time with him. Suguna agreed. He then started asking more details about Anandi. Suguna gave all the information like her school, her studies, how intelligent and smart she is, but as a true friend to Anandi never disclosed any information about Anandi's personal life to him. Shiv was so lost in Anandi's thoughts that he unknowingly said to Suguna that he thinks he is attracted to this girl and that it feels sad that he cant see her again. Suguna asked him what the matter is he said he does not know, but he always feels like seeing Anandi and also added that just a sight of Anandi makes him feel blessed. Suguna was happy on hearing all these from Shiv, coz she knew Shiv very well and also knew that he was a very good person, but was worried for Anandi. Suguna as a true friend to both Shiv and Anandi advised Shiv that may be he is attracted to Shiv, to which Shiv denies saying that it is something more than attraction and he is not sure if he can name that to be love. Suguna advised him to take some more time and to think very well, may be that he is infatuated at this time, coz at the age of 16 or 17 generally boys and girls misunderstand infatuation to be love and now that they both are not going to meet each other, it can decide very well if the feeling which Shiv had developed for Anandi is infatuation or is it love. Shiv keenly listened to what Suguna was saying and agreed to her. Both took leave to each other and then left home. On her way home Suguna was lost in thoughts of Shiv's confession and felt proud of herself for advising Shiv correctly, main reason is coz this is not the right age for love, secondly Shiv hardly knows anything about Anandi, her family background. So she felt apt to let time, fate, and destiny decide about Anandi's future as she does not want Anandi to suffer in anyways in the future as she has been suffering since her birth.
Days passed into weeks, weeks into months, and months into a year. Shiv and Suguna finished their intermediate course and had entered into the famous college of engineering. Their friendship was so strong that fate allowed them to be together even in their course of engineering. Anandi was in her senior intermediate now and was doing fairly well in her studies. Everything changed in this one year except for three things. Firstly Anandi and Suguna's friendship, secondly Suguna and Shiv's friendship, and thirdly Shiv's feelings for Anandi. He knew he had some feelings for Anandi and was sure that it really was love coz he could not forget her even for a single second. He remembered her every passing second of his life. Any free time, he would just close his eyes, and the image of Anandi would flash in front of his eyes. He knew he was in love with her but was scared to share it with anyone. He at times used to go to Anandi's college and stand by the bustop near to her college just for having a glimpse of his love. He many a times thought to share it with Suguna but could not take courage to do so. He one day even decided to go to Suguna's house, as he remembered that Suguna and Anandi were neighbors, but he dint as he dint want anyone to point a finger on Anandi and nor even let Suguna know that he was in love with Anandi. He decided to live his love in the hands of God.
The year passed by and Anandi completed her Intermediate and passed out in flying colors with a distinction, scoring 96% which was an achievement and she was not just the topper of the college, but also the topper of that particular district. Suguna was so happy for Anandi and she shared this information with Shiv. Little did Suguna knew that Shiv found this early in the morning as it was published in the newspaper and he already took the cutting of that news and had kept safely in his file along with his important certificates. Shiv answered diplomatically to Suguna and asked her to convey his congrats to Anandi. Anandi was happy after hearing the results and she came home to share this news with her family members but her family members taunted her for being a female and a burden for the family and cursed her for her life. Her brothers also instead of supporting her joined hand with their parents and combinedly taunted her and used her for their own benefit, but never showered any love or concern for her. Anandi was given scholarship to pursue her graduation, but her parents strictly refused and threatened her of taking their lives if she went ahead with her studies. Anandi in a state of dilemma bent her knees in front of her family and obliged to them and quit her studying.
