seriously people we live in today's century and today's world, what is all this non sense when a woman becomes widow there is nothing left in her life.
who the hell is the writer and who approves to have such show air on national television. it's sick i would say.
such things should not be approved by any channels or television.
just like who approved the movie "Slum dog millionaire" give me a break. someone comes in your country and makes such movie and wins 8 Oscor and no one raise their voice in in India. people wake up. you are going to lose your country one day.

We live in a modern time, but this practice with widows is still very common in India. BV is a very real show, and they're showing this truth.

They're showing Sughna as a widow....but I hope in the future they show her remarriage. (because in these villages remarriage of a widow is unthought of.)

the things portrayed in the serial are sick yet true at the same time. there is nothing wrong about what the writers have written. such traditions are still deeply rooted in our country..no matter how advanced our country gets these things still exist in a lot of rural places. educated people and those living in the metros are learned enuf to ignore these issues, but this cannot be said about every other person living in the remotest part of this country....

and the fact that people are taking the initiative to make such serials is really a great thing as at the end of the day they are somewhat helping in sensitizing people about the ill effects of such horrific and baseless traditions..........

it is indeed sad, but even today women are treated badly when they unable to bear children, or become widows and on so many other issues..........this is the bitter truth of this country and even todays century......

Agreed that all such suffferigs dont happen to widows in urban areas. But in rural areas we still have orthodox people living who not only believe in such practices but also practice them relegiously. And this is what BV is depicting. This is not unusual in villages.Since most of us live in cities we are not aware of all this neither do we believe in it but that doesnt mean that all this doent happen bcoz India's majority part is made up of rural areas whrer there is no awareness and people continue living being orthodox and i am pretty sure that whatever BV shows does happen somewhere or the other in rural india. This show is to highlight all these problems so that we 'aware and educated citizens' can do something about it.

Why are we talking only abt the rural India? this is the problem of whole of India..do u think women are treated respectfully in urban cities? female infanticide , rape, domestic violence ,prostitution we all are dealing with these issues in everyday life..i read abt them in the newspaper everyday i wake up !
ru trying to say girls are not forced to marry someone double triple their age? i read of an incident where a man married his daughter in law after she was widowed ! and he also had children with her...can u imagine this? we're living in this age where a father rapes his own daughter!
I consider myself extremely lucky and blessed to be born and brought up in the family who loves me and provided me all luxeries of life and getting married into an equally loving family......but not all are lucky...God forbid if u were born in some remote village of Haryana i bet u wudn't have been alive to see all this..
just bec. these things aren't happening around you doesn't mean the makers of BV are foolish and ignorant...the world is progressing but our mindset has a long long long way to go.....

I don't know why people like you want to run away from the reality. I think calling this show sick is a bit too harsh. Because this show is number one, if you don't have the guts to watch this show and face the realty I suggest not too watch it butyoui dont have the rights to call such a good show which is on the top, SICK!
Slumdog on the other hand was a great movie.. I didn't see anything bad in it. I know they showed a bitter side of india which was the truth but yet again they showed the better side of india which has improved a lot and is still improving.

Frankly, just because all of us stay in cities cocooned in our sheltered and modern life....doesn't mean that we think it is "SICK" for the serial makers to even show and for us to appreciate the reality faces our rural women. If we can do nothing about, atleast appreciate that a serail maker is trying to show the reality and in his own way proposing a change in this outdated culture.....
And like one of us said, issues are there for women even in Urban India, but they are of a slightly different flavor...till me, how many widows in urban areas marry....and if at all...what kind of matches they get....even in rUrban areas, widows don not perform religious and marriage ceremonies....but ya obviously they can be present and attend the ceremonies.... they wear light colours, but are not allowed bright colours, red/maroon......don't you see this practices in urban areas....so how is this SICK
