Love the great understanding between Shipraji and Sudhir ji. They emote so well. Their relationship has been portrayed so beautifully.both giving each other strength and understanding.

Agree.. but i hope down the road they are not portrayed as the bechara parents who are at their kids mercy. I think both of the characters are too strong to lead to that track..

but all in all... love their understanding...specially now that Shipra has realized what NutCase is all about

Well said...these characters which used to irritate us is now shaping well ever since Nutz' bad behaviour...Shipra gets top honors here...the way she ran into the room, got the money and thrust it in Nutz's hand and then said 'dont you dare say a word against my husband' was too good...she has learnt her lesson...she is still annoyed and smiled when Kartik forced her to, only coz Sudhir told her that elders must forgive...but she held on to her principles and said that she will go to the party in her own small car...too good...with this type of dialogue and acting, I really dont mind watching the Sharmas as a side story...developing well...
Sudhir, is still a character I cant understand..while he is philosophical and a good man to boot, the only unexplained grouse will be as to why he is not working to enhance the family kitty...his total dependence on his children as a source of income is confusing as he is shown as a healthy man...maybe that may come out later...

Nice post SriB... Yes... It's a nice realtionship...

Neenzoo... You will be surprised at how many families have such similar situations... Sometimes, when kids grow up in middle class families and start earning... Especially if they become independant one after the other... They prevent the father from working... If he displays even the slightest health problems like tiredness, chest pains, travelling by train etc... Sudhir is also somewhat of a weak man... In the sense that he is like the proverbial common man... He is not too ambitious and he feels that he has completed his duties/responsiblities as a father...

So true Malinn...I have seen many fathers like this and it irritates me...but the children are happy to take on the role of care-givers and some in fact hand over their ATM cards to their fathers...while I used to get so angry, they never felt bad and just adore their father...so its a matter of perspective and the culture you are brought up in...a fifty year old man in India is still regarded as an elderly gentleman with one foot in the grave..😆

i think in tis case, Sudhir has never been able to financially support his family, probably he had a loss or for whateer reason he lost his job etc..because if he were working why would Priya have to work to support the family..It is only recently Kartik has started working..so there is some other reason behind Sudhir never working

Nice post SRIB. Their relationship has endured the test of time!!! It's a very typical middle class couple depiction.. Sometimes OTT!! But offlate they have brought out their understanding pretty well!
With respect to Sudhir not working, it's a still a reflection of India where parents grow up their kids and then depend on them post retirement. Respect for Old parents are high and parents are automatically their responsibility! But now with the nuclear family being more common, this might not be the right reflection since a lot of retired people do go back to work even just to kill time along with the monetary benefit!
Not sure if Nutz track would result in seeing Sudhir go bak to work to show independence.. I want Shipra to just stick to him and support him in tht case!~
