the invisibility means hiding the layer!!
u know the eye shape in each layer right??
if the eye is visible then the layer is visible and if the eye is not pressed the layer is invisible!!!

when u have selected the duplicate layer press the text option(T) and click on your text!!!!
and select the whole text at onece and change the color which u want!!!
