Chapter 6

Arjun entered the conference room with sam and the rest of the ETF coming behind him.

Arj: shree go through his financials. I am sure he must have some property in his name. find it.

Shree nodded his head when sameer said "stop shree."

Sam: first explain to me arjun what the hell did you back there?

Arj: what do you mean rathore?

Sam: what do I mean? Arjun I mean why the hell did you say a lie of seeing riya?

Arj: it is'nt a lie rathore. I do see riya.

Sak: arjun I think the blow to your head was too much. You should go back to the hospital and rest. We will find her.

Arj: from your words sakshi I think that you are implying that I am hallucinating. And if that's what you are implying then I don't care. I am staying here. I do see riya and I do speak to her. get over it.

Cho: arjun sir, please tell the truth. Is riya's ghost here?

Ais: chotu, what are you saying. Ghosts do not exist.

Sam: she's right. I don't know what are you doing playing this game rawte?

Shr: rathore sir, now is not the time to discuss all of this. if there is even a slim chance of saving riya then we should take it. I am going to search the financials. Please sir give me the permission to do so.

Sameer looks at arjun and said "shree, search the property in riya's name. he is smart and if he is conducting illegal experiments then he would have booked the property in his near and dear ones. If it is not in riya's name then expand the search. Chotu, aisha contact your informers and see if there is any unusual activity in the drug circuits. A doctor needs drugs something which he can't have gotten from the hospital always. Find it. liza go through the hospital records and see if any of the patients died in a sudden manner. He might have targeted other patients also. sakshi look through his phone records. He implied many means there are more involved. Find it. and you rawte you are sitting here. and this discussion is not over."

Everyone dispersed of and arjun sat heavily on the chair. Feeling a hand on his shoulder, he said "they don't believe me." riya sat on the chair in front of him and he sees that she is wearing her favourite white dress. She smiles and said "it is kind of hard to wrap around the idea of a ghost."

He leans towards her and put his hand on her cheek. She leans into his hand both seeking comfort from a situation which they never imagined to be in.

Ri: you know I used to always ruffle your hair with my hands.

Arjun arched his eyebrow hearing this and riya giggles.

Ri: I could'nt help it. whenever you slept in the office I used to softly move my hands throught your hair. It kind of soothed me.

Arj: come back. Then you can move your hands through my hair how much ever you want.

Riya heaves a deep sign and smilingly nods her head.

Arj: is there any place you can think of where your father would have hidden you or something which has special value for him.

Ri: the only place I can think of which has a special value is our farmhouse in the outskirts of the city. We used to always spent our holidays over there but after mom's death we stopped going. I think that is where his obsession with immortality began.

Arjun took his gun and headed out of the conference room. sameer seeing him said "where are you going rawte?"

Arj: riya has a farmhouse on the outskirts of the city. Her family used to spent holidays over there. If that place is special then I am sure he must have kept riya over there.

Sh: I was just going to say that sir. it seems that the farmhouse property was empty for a long time but recently there has been request for electricity in the farmhouse.

Sam: how recent?

Sh: around the time riya had eaten the bacteria.

Sam: then this must be the place. Okay everyone lets go.

Sak: how did arjun know that riya's family had a farmhouse. He was in the conference room the whole time.

Cho: because riya is right here with him.

Ais: how can you say that chotu. You know that ghosts do not exist.

Sh: then please explain how did arjun sir know about the farmhouse when riya never ever mentioned that farmhouse to anyone of us.

Both aisha and sakshi remained silent.

Sh: no she is here and with us. now we have to save her.

They rushed to the farmhouse and pulled up in front of it. it was an old dilapidated house looking worse for wear but signs of recent construction were there. Everyone took out their guns and took their positions. Arjun and sameer crept upto the window and after nodding their heads towards each other, sameer rubbed the dust from the window with his sleeve and picked inside. What he saw inside horrified him. a bed was in the room surrounded by plastic sheets. Riya was lying on the bed with various machines hooked onto her and a needle was connected her arm which seemed to be feeding her. but she was'nt the only one. 3 more beds with plastic sheets surrounding them were there. Sameer signaled to arjun and they went back to others a sick feeling now forming in sameer's stomach. He and arjun then slowly proceeded to the front door while chotu and aisha proceeded to the back door and shree monitored their movements. On the count of three all 4 of them kicked down the doors and burst inside. Only 4 people were there, all of whom were nurses. After searching them and ensuring that no one had a dangerous weapon, aisha and chotu proceeded to handcuff them and hand them over to the police. Sameer and arjun rushed to the bed with riya on it. sameer told liza to come. Both could'nt believe their eyes that she is alive. After handing the nurses over to the police, chotu and shree rush in and without caring about their seniors caught riya's hands. Tears started coming seeing their best friend so thin, fragile as if with one push she will break. Sameer told "shree, chotu let liza check riya." Liza came and started checking riya's pulse. Arjun felt riya coming and standing beside him. He looks towards her and sees tears in her eyes. he holds her face and said "hey you are safe now."

Ri: I know. you found me.

Arj: then why are you crying?

Ri: its time for me to go. goodbye arjun sir.

As arjun watches horrified riya slowly fades and within the next second he held nothing but air. The machines started beeping and riya's body started taking deep breaths.

Sam: liza, what's happening?

Liz: she's having a cardiac arrest. Shree get the electric machine.

Sameer turns to see arjun his hands still in the form of holding someone. Arjun turns to look at sameer and sameer's heart sank seeing that expression on his face. a face which showed utter devastation and having lost everything, an expression which had only appeared once. Both of them turned their heads to see the machine show a straight line. Chotu seeing this shouted "NO,NO. RIYA"
