Chapter 7

After 2 months,

Arjun goes through the reports of the latest case they had solved. Looking through the glass he sees shree and chotu laughing about something sakshi told. Aisha looks on with an indulgent smile on her face while liza was nowhere to be seen. He sees rathore sitting in his cabin deeply immersed in the file he was reading. He looks at the time and realizes that he was late. Getting up, he takes his badge and prepares to leave. At that time, sakshi knocks on the door and after hearing the permission to enter comes in.

Sak: arjun, we are going for dinner to the Kohinoor hotel. Why don't you join us?

Arj: not interested sakshi.

Sak: come on arjun. When do we get such an evening free? We should spend it with our friends instead of being alone. Spend time with us arjun. We are also a part of your life now.

Arj: if your talking is over, then please leave sakshi. I told you not interested means not interested. Samjhe ya samjhau?

Arjun went as sakshi sighs and joins shree, chotu, aisha and liza.

Shr: he agreed?

Sak: no he did'nt.

Ch: told you he won't sakshi. Its not that he does'nt care about us. he just prefers being alone.

Sak: come on chotu, I mean how long will arjun stay alone? After all we are his team. He should be spending time with us especially right now.

Sakshi bit her tongue as shree and chotu's faces tightened.

Sak: sorry guys, I did'nt mean to say like that.

Ch: its okay sakshi. I know that you mean well but you know arjun sir. he's not going to be that easy to come with us.

Ais: okay. Enough of such serious talk. Let's leave now otherwise the restaurant will become crowded. I will ask rathore sir and liza to join us.

Sh: wait, you go and get rathore sir aisha. I will go and get liza.

Sak: oh oh, desperate to meet liza huh?

Sh: what? Me desperate to meet liza? No. stop talking nonsense sakshi.

Shree went his face burning while aisha, sakshi and chotu laughed.

Arjun walks down the hospital corridor his thoughts on the conversation with sakshi. He knew that he was being rude and he could have spent time with his team but he wanted to come here as soon as possible. For the last 2 months, this hospital has become his home. His thoughts snapped as he sees the nurse come out of her room.

Nurse vimla has worked with the hospital for 20 years. in her 20 years, she never saw an individual this punctual. At first, she thought that he will leave after sometime as the others do in such cases but her assumption proved wrong as the days passed by. Now she smiles at him and said "planning on spending the night again mr rawte?"

Arj: no just came to visit her. what did the doctor say?

Vim: same as he said before. There is no improvement in her condition yet.

Arjun is going to walk inside when vimla stopped him and said "arjun if you don't mind can I ask a question?"

Arj: sure. You are her caretaker. You have the right to ask me anything.

Vim: how long is this going to go on? Arjun, please understand what I am trying to say. Her condition might as well be assumed as the permanent condition. How long are you going to waste your life coming to her, hoping for her to get better?

Arj: aunty, I do understand your sentiments. But I am not hoping for her to get better. I know that she is going to get better. Its just a matter of time. That's all. She is a girl who fights back and she will come back to me.

Arjun went inside while vimla goes amazed of such optimism and hoping that his optimism does'nt become wrong. Arjun came inside the room and looks at her lovingly. She is lying on the bed her body lifeless, yet the machines indicated the heart going on beating inside her. He pulls up a chair beside her bed and stroking her cheek said "hey riya."
