Part 11:

Sameer left the room, leaving Saakshi for herself to get ready for the party. There was still two more hours left for the event to start. It hardly takes 20 minutes for her to get ready these days, but there were times during the past when she would stand before the mirror absent minded for hours to get her ready. But nothing remained the same; her life now was nowhere near what it was years ago. This was not the time to get struck up in the past, the people around her today had taken a lot of efforts to make this day special for her. She in no ways could ruin the fun for them. She wanted to do something special for them today as well. She decided that she would cook dinner for them herself.

She went to the kitchen and started cooking each of their favorite dishes. It took her almost an hour to complete cooking and she left to her room to get herself ready. She got a shower quickly and got herself dressed in the sky blue saree with silver embroidery that Pratheeksha had gifted her. It was the first time in six long years she was going to celebrate her birthday. Even though she hated to celebrate it she would do it for the happiness of the people around her. She got ready and went to the party hall.

Shree, Chotu, Liza and Aisha were already in the hall overlooking all the arrangements for her birthday celebrations as they wanted to make it special for her in all the aspects. Shree was wearing a yellow kurtha with golden embroidery and was looking stunning. Chotu was wearing green kurtha with light silver embroidery in it. Aisha and Liza were wearing similar salwar suit with colour being the only difference.

Sameer was in this trying to get ready for the party. But his mind was pondering over the discussion he had with Saakshi a little while ago. He now felt that whatever Saakshi said was right and she had nailed the coffin right on its head. Now when he thought about the events of the past with a clear mind, he could feel that all was not entirely Arjun's fault. Anyone would have reacted to the situation the same way he had with the only difference being that he was a little overconfident, ruthless or to say a bit too casual. Having realized Arjun was not entirely responsible for Roshini's brutal murder would he be able to forget the happenings of the past and reform their broken friendship again. He still had no answer to this question of his. He wished Roshini was here to tell and guide him as what needs to be done now as it had happened most of the times in the past whenever he was in a confusion or dilemma regarding some issue. She had always become his mentor or guide to guide him through difficult phases of his life. He now missed her badly. He closed his eyes and hoped Roshini as always would solve this for him. Suddenly he felt a hand on his shoulders and found Roshini smiling at him

Roshini: Kyun Sam meri bahoot yaad aa rahi kya aaj? Aab tho manlo tum meri bina apni life ka koyi bhi decision nahi le sakthe?

Sameer: Aisi koyi baath nahi hai. Mein tume miss kartha hoon kyunki tum meri best friend ho. Par aapne aapko jayda importance dene jarorat nahi. I can take my own decisions.

Roshini: Woh tho dikh hi raha hai Mr Sameer Rathod. Meri baath suno Sam, Mere saath jo hua shayaad woh mera kismat tha jisse ke liye hum kissi ko bhi zimmedhar nahi keh sakthe. Arjun ko bhi nahi. Kismat kay aage kissi ka bhi nahi chaltha Sam. Jho hona hota hai woh ho hi jaatha hai. Us ski taraf apni haath dubarah badao aur meri Arjun ko sambalo Sam. Usse iss waqt tumari bahoot zayada jarorat hai. Uski zindagi mein dubarh kusiyon ko aana hi hoga. Usse ab kisi aur ka haath tamkar aage badna hi hoga. Iss nayi safar tum usske saath doge. Mujhse waada karo Sam ab tum usse ek pal ke liye bhi akele nahi hone doge. Please Sam promise me.

Sameer: As always you are right. I promise you, from now I will always be with him

Part 11 (Continued):

He turned to see if Roshini was still there, but she had vanished. Now he knew what needs to done as all his confusions were gone. He got ready fast and went to meet Rawte or to say his good old friend Sam.

Arjun was trying to get ready for the party but his mind was still occupied with her thoughts. He had always judged wrongly and insulted her endlessly. He had humiliated her countless number of times in front of his team. He now not only felt guilty for those actions of his but also hated himself for unknowingly adding to bundle of grief that she was living with. Even though she had not yet shared her trauma with him, he could gauge it was something lot graver than what he had gone through. The sudden tap at the door made him come out of this thoughts and found Rathod standing at the entrance.

Arjun: Kya baath hai Rathod. Koyi nayi case aayi ha kya?

Sameer: Nahi. Aisi koi baath nahi hai. Kya mein tumse milne aise hi nahi aa saktha Arjun?

Arjun (Shocked): Abhi tumne mujhe Arjun kahke bulaya right? Did I get you right?

Sameer: Haan. You heard me right Arjun. I really want to apologise to you for not being there and not trusting you when you needed my support, trust and friendship. I am sorry Arjun. I got carried away a bit too much that I couldn't see that if I have lost my friend and sister then you have also lost your wife and love of your life. I blamed everything on you even though I realized somewhere in the back of my mind that it was not your life. I know that I don't deserve your forgiveness as I not only broke your trust but also Roshini's faith. Even then forgive me if possible.

Arjun: Yeh tum kya keh rahe ho Sam. Tume maafi mangne ki koyi zaroraat nahi. Agar mein tumhare jagah par hota tho bhi shayaad yehi kartha. Jaise tumne kaha woh hum dono ke liye bahoot kaas thi iss liye hum dono ko yeh manna bahoot muskil ho gaya that hi woh ab nahi rahi. Tumhari aur uskei saath tho mera aur uska saath se bhi purana hai tho dard uthna hi zayada hoga. I understand you Sam.

Sameer: Then friends again he said. Forwarding his hand

They both shook each others hand

Arjun: Arre doston sirf hand shake nahi karthe gale bhi milthe hai.

They both hugged each other forgetting all the bitter memories of the past and forging a new friendship or to be precise renewing their old friendship with undying faith, trust and love. They broke from the hug after what seemed like ages feeling content.

Arjun: Sam Mujhe ek baath samajh mein nahi aayi. Tume yeh achanak kaise ehsaas ho gaya ki tum galath the?

Sameer: The truth is someone made me realized that I have wronged you and left you when you needed me the most and my ego was stopping me from taking a step towards you. She also made realize that we are incomplete without each other and only we two fill the void left in each other's life.

Arjun though had guessed who that person might be. Still he wanted to know about it from Sameer.

Arjun: Aisa kaun hai jo tume samajha sakhe? Let me guess Aisha right?

Sameer (Mocking): Aisha nahi balki tumhari waali ne mujhe na sirf samajha ya par promise manga mujhse ki mein tumhari taraf haath bafavoon. Mujhe bhi wahi teek laga iss liye mein woh kiya

Arjun: Saakshi aur mere beech aisa koyi rishta nahi hai Sam.

Sameer: Mein tho Roshini ki baath kar raha tha tume aisa kyun laga ki mein Saakshi ki baath kar raha hoon. Waise kya paak raha tum dono ke beech mein?

Arjun (To himself): Yeh meine kya keh diya hai. Ab Sam tho mera bahoot mazaag udaye ga. (To Sam): Come lets go the party everyone will be waiting. Aisa koyi baath nahi jaisa tum soch rahe ho Sam.

Sameer: Ok agar tum keh rahe ho tho maan loonga. Par jab bhi koyi pareshaani hai tho mujhe baathavoge na.

Arjun: Aaj tak tumse kuch chupaaya hai kya ki aaj mein chupavoonga.

Saying they both went to the party hall.

In Neev's Room:

Saakshi entered Neev's room to find him struggling or to say fumbling with his kurtha. She laughed at him thinking something's never change. He still doesn't know the wear the kurtha properly.

Saakshi: Come Neev. I will do it for you.

Neev: Thank god Di. Aap aa gayi I can never wear this properly. It's so complicated.

Saakshi smiled and hooked all the buttons properly and folded his collar. Now everything was fitted perfectly and he looked dashing and handsome. Saakshi takes some kaajal from her eyes and applied at the back of his ears.

Neev: Di. I hate when you do it. U know na?

Saakshi: Haan haan. Patha hi mujhe. Fir bhi mera bhai itna handsome hai tho mujhe yeh tho karna hi hai taaki kissi ki nazar na lage.

Neev: Whatever di.

Saakshi: Neev aaj tum meri ek baath manoge?

Neev: Mein tho world's best brother hoon. Aapi ki har baath maan hi letha hoon ya yun kahoon aap manva hi lethi ho Di.

Saakshi: Teek hain. Tho hamesha ki tarah meri yeh baath man lo. Pratheeksha se shaadi karva lo Neev. Aab tho tumhari life settle ho chuki hai tho why should we delay it?

Neev: Di. Let's not go into it because you know my decision. It does not change Di. I don't want to disappoint you today.

Saakshi: Nahi Neev. Get out with it today. I want to know the real reason what is stopping you from marrying her when you love her more than your life.

Neev: Agar sunna hi tho sun bhi lijiye. Mein bhi iss baath katham hi kar dena chahtha hoon. Wajah yeh hai hum dono yeh ye faisla liya hain hum shaadhi tab tak nahi karenge jab tak hum aapko settled aur aapki zindagi mein kush na dekh len.

Saakshi: Yeh kya pagaalpan hai? Tum jaanthe ho ki meri zindagi katham ho chuki hai. Mere zindagi aab woh waqt kabhi nahi aa saakta jisme mein kissi ki haath tamkar chalne ke bare mein soochun. Mein yeh galathi ek baar kar chuki hoon jisske gaav aab tak nahi bare hain na shayaad bharange. Wohi galathi mein dubaarah nahi karongi.Mere zindagi ka ek hi maksat hai apnon se diya waada nibhane ka. Isse liya apne zindagi ka raah meri zindagi se math joodo Neev. Please.

Neev: I am firm in my decision Di. I am not changing it any cost. Now let's go everyone is waiting for.

Saying he leaves the room angrily. Saakshi falls on her knees and is totally broken.

Saakshi: Kash Rosh aaj tum hoti. Tum thou ski dost thi na. Tum usse samajhathi tho woh maan bhi leta. Par tumne auron ki tarah mujhe isse zindagi ki safar mein akela kar ke chali gayi. Why Rosh? Why?

Sameer and Arjun were passing by when they heard raised voices from Neev's room and they stopped to know if there is any problem. They unintentionally heard the entire conversation. Arjun was about to step in to console Saakshi when Sameer stopped.

Sameer: Nahi Arjun. Usse akela chodo.

Arjun: Nahi Sam. Usse aab humari zarorat hai. Mein usse akela nahi chodh sakta. Jab bhi mujhe kissi ki zarorat padi hain usne mera saath diya hain. Today she needs me Sam. I can't leave her alone.

Sameer: No. She has not yet shared anything of her past with us. So wait till that time. Trust me she will be alright.

Arjun: May be you are right. Come let's go

They both left to the party hall.

Note: A bit too emotional but was necessary. In the next few parts we will come to know about Saakshi's past.
