In epi#1 when he threw her out of the house, neither baa nor bapuji came for her. She herself could have stood up for herself.

Each time, Vanraj insulted her for her every little thing, she could have either corrected herself or spoke back to him. She was mute and let him keep on abusing her. This is what kids have seen all their life, that their mother is good for nothing like their father says. They think it is okay to continue to abuse her because she doesn't retort at all.

I know it's against forum rules to talk about any other show but I remember "Silsila" which showcased complex relationships. At that time viewers were sensible and mature enough to call out Kunal and Nandini's ema despite having "off the charts" chemistry and Dr. Mauli as a character was truly ahead of her times. She was shown head over heels in love with her ex Kunal but eventually placed her self respect above everything else and moved on with Ishaan. What a masterpiece!
