Also honey is dangerous and paediatric says no for honey as a part of daily and frequent usage for infant.
I have never read any papers who says a drop of honey for once in a year can kill infant !

One Drop of honey for once in a year can’t kill infant. Seems like all are talking about normal daily/frequent usage of honey for infant jiske liye paediatrician strictly no bolte hai.

Correct, the ritual of someone special feeding the first drop of food to the baby CAN be followed, just like you did, give anything else but NOT honey/jaggery/water.

I mean they could give colstrum, or drops of medication that's administered to infants or, breast/formula milk instead.

The show producers should have social responsibility or at the very least write a disclaimer that this ritual is no longer done using Honey and that only breast milk should be fed to babies.

Just like they have disclaimers about cigarette smoking.

This show is very impressionable to people who follow Anupamaa, there is no way once can reason with them with science, data etc. I feel the producers can use this in a positive way instead of regressing and undoing many years of hard work.

At birth babys digestive system is brand new

It has never been exposed to anything. Honey is a complex carbohydrate which is extremely difficult to digest. Exposing baby's digestive system to complex carbohydrate is like exposing a new borns eyes to bright laser light or its ears to loud explosion. It's eyes and ears will likely shatter. Same thing with digestive system

Also microbes are present in uncooked food like honey which is harmless to those with existing gut bacteria but deadly for newborns and causes diseases like botulism

So yes, one drop can kill a baby. You should never expose a new born to anything but mothers milk. Every single outside food, particularly uncooked ones,.have microbes. A Baby has no gut bacteria to handle them. Their gut bacteria and immunity is built slowly through exposure to mothers milk and takes months.

An infant has way less immunity than a toddler and a new born has way less immunity than even a 2 week old infant

Giving honey is risky. Period.

Especially also with the current lifestyle we live in and everything under the sun being adulterated, filled with pesticides - to then telecast a scene of giving a drop of honey to a newborn baby is plain stupidity and reckless.

An added risk to the known risk of botulism

But what is wrong with me. Why am I still hoping that these people will get logical things right without having the audience point it out.

For information, it is a fact that numerous children have died because their parents fed honey during some or the other rituals. Just because no one in your knowing died, it doesn't invalidate the science. There can be numerous reasons, maybe they were never fed the honey, just doing the gesture for the sake of rituals. Losing ones child is one of the most painful thing that can happen to anyone. Imagine being responsible for own child's death. Even if the odds of any serious complication is 0.001% it is not worth the risk. Government is not an idiot to spend so much for promoting best practices. Please refrain from justifying such practices.

India mai jab tak iss ritual ki wajah se hue infant death cases ka digit newspaper mai nahi ayege tab tak ghar ki old generation nahi sudhregi.

Iss ritual ki wajah se hue infant death cases ka digit he sab ke ghar ke Bade -buddho ko sidha kar sakta hai.

Agar young generation mana bhi karegi toh bhi dada-dadi, Nana-nani koi bhi nahi manega just because unho ne abhi tak iss ritual ki wajah se hone wale death cases local newspaper mai padhe nahi hai.

Maine baby ke dada-dadi , nani-nana sabke against ja kar vitamin d3 use kar ke apne bete ko gudthuthi diya. Muje gudthuthi ritual mai bahot Shraddha hai so Maine middle ground le kar infant vitamin d3 se ritual kiya.

During pandemic, if mother had covid, there had to be a special surgery done to protect the baby, also the skin-to-skin was avoided. Simply because the baby has no immunity to any of the known diseases.

Also the problem is not if Vit D drops are given to baby in the name of the ritual. Yes the baby is allowed to take medicine like gripe water, antibiotics and vitamins apart from mother's milk if necessary. But it should have been specified in the show that in old times honey was given which was not fatal but now we are giving a medicine to ensure ritual is fulfilled without endangering the baby. Who will confirm it was sweet medicine and not honey??

One more very important thing is that all rituals aside, the mother's first milk is what the baby should have drunk before ANYTHING else, even if it was Vit D drops or any other medicine, unless the mother is not able to produce milk due to some reason. If any ritual is negating this, it should not be followed and I am saying this at the risk of offending any religious customs that exist these days.

If makers are showing this without projecting that breastmilk is most important, they're being Socially Irresponsible PERIOD!!

Don't be afraid. Rituals and customs should change with time and era. That is what is written in Bhagavad Gita as well. Rules and regulations are made according to a particular situation, the same cannot be applicable to every situation. In earlier days kids used to play in sand, mud, rain,, etc and still they were fine. But nowadays if kids do that they fall sick.

Yes the makers should atleast know these small details. Its about awareness.

Its true that oldies still believe to put gud/honey ghee in baby's mouth but doctors dont allow it. And now after literally doordarshan running awareness campaign for it, villagers also know about it. Even if they dont know then medical staff dont allow all this rituals which can be harmful for babies.

Dont know how they showed it happening in a big city like amhedabad that too in a five star kind of hospital with qualified medical staff.....oh yes....i know the answer...it was because anupaMAAaaaaa must have thought that its a best thing for baby. Jab ek qualified doctor anupaMAAaaa ko aakar thanks bol sakta to kuch bhi ho sakta hai.

And awareness campaign, wrong message....bhaad mein jaye...who cares....log to hain hi gadhe kuch bhi kar lo show to dekhte hi rahenge.🤢

What is saddening is now the sane people on twitter seems to have left, and all who are remaining are RG / GK fans who watch the show for them and have given up on logic and raising a voice for stupidity shown.

Can't blame them also ! How long can one raise a voice. After a point, everyone is gonna get exhausted feel it hopeless beyond a point

I think mostly gynaecologist just after delivery operation theatre mai he skin to skin karate hoge. Meri jaha delivery hui waha toh baby ko clean kar ke sabse pehle muje breastfeed ke liye 10 minute diya gaya and uske baad bahar khadi meri family ko baby dikhaya tha!

Sabse pehle breastfeed system toh har jagah hoga na?!🤔Kinjal ko bhi doctor ne placenta cut kar ke shayad skin to skin karaya hoga?!

Ritual ka matlab he yeh hai ki jo sabse pehle kuch mitha dega baby uske jaise hoga. Ab woh infant vitamin D ho yah jaggery kya fark padta hai ! so sabko yeh ritual karne ke liye infant baby ko mitha vitamin drop de dena chahiye. Mere baby ko uske papà ne drop diya wohi mere liye kafi hai.
