Part 7

Anupama woke up with a smile thinking about how quickly this one month has gone by, she was getting married to Anuj today in a lavish affair she and her mom had helped the Kapadia’s organise. She still remembers how her new family had told her mom that they would be organising everything for the wedding and would be taking care of all the expenses as well. Her papa and mummy absolutely refused to hear any of their protests and her mum had to finally accept when Anuj told her “agar aap sach mein mujhe apna beta maanti hain to aap mana nahi kareinge maa.”

Since then they were both moved into the Kapadia’s home to help with the wedding preparations. Anuj had also managed to convince Asha to live with them permanently after the wedding on his parents suggestion. Anu felt really blessed to be part of such an open minded family. ‘Aaj kal jahan log apne sage maa baap ko ghar se nikaal dete hain wahan Anuj apni saas ko maa mante hain and wants to live with her to take good care of her. Woh itne ache hain aur unki inhi baaton par to aur bhi pyaar ata hai.’ Anu thought fondly.

She had a completely different outlook of society and life in general now since she started living with the Kapadia’s. Anu didn’t feel restricted anymore like she used to be when she lived in the fear of what society might think. The Kapadia’s were very liberal in their views and were open minded. They were against the numerous restrictions their society put on girls and were quite vocal about them too. The men treated the women with utmost love, affection and respect, they treated them like queens. When they found out that Anu liked classical dance they encouraged her to participate in the inter college competition and Meera gifted her the customised ghunroos she had got made for herself to Anu as blessings. Anu felt like she was actually given wings to fly, the feeling of being accepted wholeheartedly just the way she was without any conditions gave her a huge confidence boost and made her feel secure in the knowledge that she could share everything with her family and that they would back her up no matter what. She wasn’t afraid of falling or failing since she knew that Anuj and their family were there to support her whenever she needed them, this made her completely fearless, she was a new Anupama, she was Anupama Anuj Kapadia.

While most girls didn’t feel they were part of their in laws' family even after all the wedding customs and rituals this wasn’t the case for Anu. She didn’t need any of this to feel part of her new family and she thought all the credit for that went to Anurag and Meera who were so open minded themselves and instilled such good values in their children. Anu felt really blessed to be able to call such lovely and down to earth people her family. Her life was restricted to the house chores, home and college before meeting her new family but the past month has opened her eyes to a completely new world which she never even dreamed of. The smile on her face brightened thinking about how she spent all her waking moments with Anuj. They were able to go to college together go out with their friends after college and enjoy life to the fullest, something she had never even dreamed of. Anuj was always taking her somewhere or the other, he took her shopping, to the bakery, the ice cream parlour, boating and hiking. Anu was also able to let go of her inhibitions and enjoy her engagement period with Anuj to the fullest knowing that her papa and mummy didn’t have any objections, in fact they were always giving Anuj ideas about where he could take Anu.

Anu opened her arms with a huge grin on her face to receive the overexcited bundle of joy as soon as her door burst open and Malvika squealed throwing herself at her. She tightened the hug and kissed Mukku on the head saying “Good morning bacha, did you sleep well?”, but before the little munchkin could respond Anuj also burst into the room and exclaimed “Mukku ki bachi! Give that back to me!” Mukku squealed even louder “bhabhi, dekho na! Bhai is being mean to me" she pouted cutely. Anu who was used to their cat and mouse game by now just smiled shaking her head asking “ab kis baat par lar rahe ho aap dono?” Anuj pouted and complained like a child “Jaan bolo na usse mujhe meri cheez wapas kare!” Hiding her smile behind a stern face Anu sighed “aap bhi ne Anuj, bilkul bache hain! Mukku bacha dikhao mujhe kya cheez..”. Before Anu could finish speaking Anuj started protesting “arey rehne do na Jaan tum dekh kar kya karogi.. bas ise bolo mujhe meri cheez lauta de..”

Seeing Anuj’s nervousness Anu hid her smile again and asked “aisa kya hai jo main nahi dekh sakti? Ab to mujhe bhi dekhna hai! Dikhao bacha kya hai tumhare paas?”

When Mukku showed Anu what was in her hand she sighed understanding why Anuj was adamant on getting it back. “Bacha tum yeh wala bhai ko dedo please.. I promise main tumhare liye dusra la doungi..” Mukku forwarded her finger and asked “pinky promise?”

Anu smiled affectionately and responded while linking her finger to Mukku’s “pinky promise mera bacha! Main ek pink wala la doungi tumhare liye..” Mukku gave Anu a bear hug and said “I love you bhabhi! Aap sabse achi ho!” she then threw the magnets she was holding to Anuj and ran out of the room.

Anuj who tried to leave as well stopped hearing Anu “stop right there Mr chumbak chor!” He turn around and sauntered towards her with a mischievous glint in his eyes. Reaching the bed he sat down next to her and exclaimed “chumbak chor? Aur jo bohot keemti cheezein tumne churai hain unke kya?” Anu frowned confusingly and asked “maine aisa kya churaya hain?”

Anuj leaned closer to her until they could feel each other’s breaths and said huskily “mera dil, mera chain, meri neendein, mera qarar..”, he would have carried on and on if his Anu didn’t interrupt by blurting out “woh sab to aap ne bhi mujhse churaya hai ne?”. She immediately turned red when she realised what she said and his her face in Anuj’s chest holding the front of his tshirt in a tight grip. Trying to stop her from hyperventilating Anuj hugged her tight and said soothingly “it's okay jaan.. tum mujhse apne dil ki baat nahi karogi toh aur kisse karogi? Hum dono alag to nahi hai na? Main poora ka poora tumhara hi to houn to mujhse kaisi sharam? Hmm?” Anu who calmed down hearing him relaxed in his hold and wrapped her arms around him enjoying the peace and safety she self only in his arms. After sometime Anuj dropped a sweet kiss on her forehead and told her it was time to start getting ready for their wedding.

Anuj could still not believe that he was now married to his Anu, it all still felt like a dream. He was now seated next to Anu along with their family to have dinner after all the rituals were completed. His Anu looked like a queen dressed in her exquisite red outfit which he has chosen for her and adorned with their ancestral jewellery. He felt indescribable joy seeing the glow which appeared on Anu's face after he filled her parting with sindoor and made her wear the mangalstra which he had designed himself. There was a sparkle in her eyes and a huge smile on her face which he promised himself would never leave her.

As was tradition for the Kapadia’s, the newlyweds were asked to share a plate and feed each other. Thinking that this would make Anu uncomfortable, Anuj tried to protest but she held his hand and shook her head to stop him. He looked at her with questioning eyes and Anu responded with a sweet smile on her face along with a slight nod making Anuj smile adoringly at his wife as well.

Mukku who couldn’t stop herself from teasing her bhai and bhabhi said with a cute pout on her face “aap log mujhe nahi khilaoge?”

Anu smiled affectionately at her and said feeding her the first bite “hum apni princess ko kaise bhool sakte hain, tum to hum sabki jaan ho".

Anuj and his parents felt really touched seeing how Anu always seemed to indulge Mukku without ever getting annoyed with her childishness. In fact Anu pampered their little princess so much that Mukku would go to her for everything instead of her parents.

He was so overwhelmed with the love he felt for Anu that he couldn’t stop himself from placing a kiss on her forehead before he started feeding her. She felt shy with his public display of affection but it didn’t stop her from feeding her Anuj with all the love brimming in her heart as well. Everyone stopped existing for them and they finish their first meal as a married couple lost in each other.

After all the guests were gone Meera took Anu to Anuj’s room which was going to be Anu's as well from now on. She showed Anu the whole wardrobe which she and Anuj had selected in the walk in closet. Her side of the closet was filled with all types of outfits, jewellery, shoes, handbags and accessories which she had never even dreamed of. There was also a second desk and chair added next to Anuj’s ones for Anu to study comfortably. Meera then opened the doors to the balcony and showed Anu the loveseat swing which faced their well maintained gardens. Anu got really overwhelmed with all the love, care and affection she was being showered with and hugged Meera promising herself that she will always try her best to make her family proud of her.

Meera helped Anu sit comfortably on the bed and went downstairs to call Anuj. As soon as her mummy left Anu started getting nervous while waiting for Anuj. All of a sudden she started recalling all the stories her friends who were pulled out of college and married off by their families told her. They were no less than horror stories to her as her innocent mind could not come to terms with how those girls were treated like commodities instead of human beings. They did not have any control over their own lives, infact their wishes, happiness and consent was just irrelevant to their husbands and in laws. They were not even allowed to think for themselves anymore and thinking about how their lives changed after marriage really scared Anu. She would have been trapped like that too if Anuj didn’t fight for her and she shuddered thinking what her life would have been like if she had become the Shah’s daughter in law.

Anu had worked herself into a state thinking about all this and that’s how Anuj found her when he walked into the room. He rushed to comfort her and hugged her whispering soothing words into her ear. Anu felt safe wrapped in her loving husband’s arms and told him everything that was on her mind. She shared all her fear regarding what her friends were going through and what her life would have been like if Anuj didn’t marry her.

Anuj kissed Anu’s forehead and said lovingly while looking into Anu's tearfilled eyes “you are very soft hearted sweetheart that’s why you are hurting so much for them.. but you are stronger than this jaan, you should be strong for them and think how you can support them.. We are all with you in everything you decide to do to help your friends and anyone else you see suffering.. you know we all love you a lot and will do anything to make you happy, issi liye don’t upset yourself so much over this.. okay? Today’s the happiest day of our lives sweetheart aur agar aaj ke din tum itna udaas aur pareshan rahogi to I’ll feel like I’ve failed all the promises I made to keep you happy on the first day itself..”

Hearing Anuj saying this Anu covered his mouth with her fingers and shook her head saying “nahi Anuj, aap please aisa mat kahiye.. you can never fail, you have made me the happiest girl in the world with all your love, care and affection.. you gave me the perfect family, a dream wedding, accepted my mother as your own and made me feel safe for the first time since my baba passed away.. when I first saw you on my first day in college I was spellbound by you, I had never felt like that before.. main chup chup ke aapko dekha karti thi lekin kabhi aapse baat karne ki himmat hi nahi hui.. maine kabhi sapne mein bhi nahi socha tha ke aap kabhi mere honge.. you are my dream come true Anuj, aap mere hain, mere sabse ache dost, mere humdard, mera pyaar, mere jeevan saathi, sirf aur sirf mere.. aur maine kissi ko bhi yeh haq nahi diya hai ke aapke bare mein bura kahe.. aapko bhi nahi.. samjhe aashiq Kapadia ji?”

Anuj who felt himself floating in cloud nine with Anu's confession couldn’t control himself and started kissing his jaan passionately. Anu also lost he inhibitions and kissed him back wrapping her arms around him. When they came up for air Anuj kissed her forehead lovingly and told Anu “go freshen up and wear something comfortable sweetheart.. kal humein college jana hai.”

Anu who was still lost in his kiss looked at him confusingly and asked “college? Lekin aaj hi toh hamari shaadi hui hai toh phir kal college kyu?”

Unable to stop himself Anuj hugged Anu tight again and pecked her lips saying “this is your last year jaan and I don’t want anything to affect your studies.. I want to be your support system not your distraction.. issi liye I will make you completely mine only after your last exam which is in 3 months..”

Anu hid herself in his arms and said “aap itne ache kyun hain Anuj? I’m so lucky to have you in my life.. I love you so much..” she kissed him on his heart and hugged him lovingly.

Anuj smiled brightly and said coarsely “I love you too jaan..”

Glad you updated. The story taking an interesting turn of Anu continuing to ful fill her dreams after marriage.🤗👏

Maybe if you could write a previously at the start of what happened. There has been a jump in the stroyline from last chapter to marriage. This got slightly confusing.
