Part 9

The next morning Anu woke up wrapped in the safety of Anuj’s arms and smiled seeing him sleeping peacefully. With her heart overflowing with love for him she brushed his hair from his forehead and gently traced his face with feather light fingers. Since her head was still resting on his chest she could feel his heartbeats picking up and realised that he was awake. Anu felt shy and tried to get off the bed but Anuj just tightened his arms around her and smiled at her with a mischievous glint in his eyes. Unable to hold his gaze any longer Anu hid her blushing face in his chest and hugged him tight.

Anuj chuckled and said in his husky morning voice “why did you stop jaan? I was quite enjoying that.. tum kaho to I can pretend to go back to sleep for you to have your way with me..”

Anu felt goosebumps hearing his voice making her hold onto him even tighter and whined with a cute pout on her face “please don’t tease me Anuj!"

Seeing her look so breathtakingly beautiful first thing in the morning, especially with that pout, Anuj was unable to control himself, he took her bottom lip into his mouth kissing her with all the tenderness his heart was filled with for her. Anu also lost her inhibitions and running her fingers through his hair kissed him back. When they finally came up for air she took a deep breath while Anuj unable to get enough of her latched onto her neck and carried on kissing her leaving deep red bites marking her as his. He came back to his senses when she gripped his hair tight moaning his name breathlessly. Anuj’s heart overflowed with love seeing Anu's head thrown back in passion, her maang filled with sindoor, his mangalsutra around her neck, her face glowing with the loveliest blush he’d ever seen on her and her neck covered with his love bites. He kissed her forehead lovingly and his eyes filled with tears thinking that he could have lost her forever if Devika hadn’t informed him about the Shah’s proposal on time. He shuddered thinking what would have happened if he was unable to save his jaan from those monsters.

Anu opened her eyes feeling warm drops on her face and was shocked seeing the fear in Anuj’s eyes. She pulled his head to her chest and hugged him tightly to herself gently rubbing his back she asked “kya hua Anuj? Please tell me why you are so upset?”

Anuj buried his face even more in Anu's arms and tightened his arms around her saying in a broken voice “I just realized what would have happened if Devika hadn’t told me about the Shah’s proposal. You would have been stuck among those monsters aur main hamesha ke liye akela reh jata. It would have killed me to see you suffering and not having any right to protect you and wipe your tears jaan. We would both have ended up living miserable lives..”

Unable to continue, Anuj broke into sobs trying to bury himself even more into Anu’s embrace and tightened his arms around her, not letting go, afraid she’ll disappear. It was then that Anu realised how deeply that ordeal had affect her Anuj as well. He had ignored his fears and insecurities while always being her pillar of strength but it was now her turn to support him and give him the strength he needed to overcome his fears.

She kissed his head and said said lovingly “Anuj don’t cry shona.. meri taraf dekhiye..” she wiped his tears gently and kissed his forehead when he looked up at her. “mujhe gaur se dekhiye Anuj, yeh sindoor aur mangalsutra sirf aapke naam ka hai.. main sirf aur sirf aapki houn aur yeh koi nahi badal sakta.. hamari haathon ke lakeeron main milna likha tha shona issi liye humein koyi bhi juda nahi kar sakta. Aapke pyaar ki taakat ne hum dono ko bacha liya Anuj aur yehi pyaar humein hamesha saath aur khush rakhega.. Humein us incident ko ek bura sapna samajh kar peeche chorna hoga, otherwise this fear won’t let us be completely happy. I trust that our love will shield us from every obstacle in the future aur mujhe yeh pura bharosa hai that you’ll always keep me safe and happy. I trust you with my life Anuj and love you more than my life.”

Anuj finally calmed down and rested his forehead against Anu's, their breaths mingling said “I’m so lucky to have you in my life jaan and will make sure to never forget it and cherish every minute we spend together.” He put his head back on Anu’s chest and hugged her with all his might again.

Anu caressed his hair and back lovingly and said “lucky to main houn shona, you are my special gift from God and I’ll make sure to treasure you all my life.” She was going to kiss his forehead but he lifted his head just in time and her lips brushed his instead. Anu froze with her lips still on his since this was the first time she initiated a kiss while Anuj stayed still not wanting her to be uncomfortable. She felt the overwhelming urge to show him how much she loved him and tentatively brushed her lips against his again. Anuj groaned and unable to stop himself kissed her deeply until they had to come up for air breathing deeply. Anuj gave her a100 watt smile which reached his eyes saying “it’s going to be so hard not to make love to you until we finish college jaan..”

Anu went bright red and hit his arm saying “Anuj! Aapko zara si bhi sharam nahi aati hai na?”

Anuj pulled her on top of him and whispered “you are a part of me jaan, phir khud se kaisi sharam?”

Anu smiled seeing he was back to his normal self. Suddenly realising that her 4am alarm didn’t ring she looked at the clock and gasped “Anuj! It’s already 5.30 and the alarm didn’t ring. How could I wake up so late on the first day itself?”

Seeing her panicking and nearly in tears Anuj calmed her down and said “I switched the alarm off jaan , you were exhausted yesterday and I wanted you to have a good night’s rest. Koi tumhein kuch nahi kahega, main houn tumhare saath.. bharosa hai na mujhpar?”

Anu nodded and said “aap par toh pura bharosa hai Anuj lekin ghar par abhi bhi mehmaan hain.. mujhe bilkul bhi acha nahi lagega agar meri wajah se mummy, papa ya aapko un sab ki baatein sunni pare..”

Anuj hugged her and said “Anu meri jaan, tum ab Anupama Anuj Kapadia ho aur kissi mein itni himmat nahi hai ke tumhare bare mein kuch bhi galat bole.. they wouldn’t want to face dad's wrath.. issi liye stop worrying and go get ready.”

Anu nodded and rushed to get ready after dropping a quick kiss on Anuj’s cheek leaving him with a huge smile on his face.

When she came out of the bathroom dressed in a red saree Anuj was lost in her and forgot everything around him. Anu had to push him inside the bathroom to avoid them both being more late. By the time Anuj came out all dressed Anu had only managed to dry her hair and apply light makeup on her face. Anuj walked to her with a smile on his face and helped her finish getting ready. He covered all the marks on her neck with the makeup his mom had got specially from France for Anu, filled her maang with sindoor and helped her put her jewellery on. She looked drop dead gorgeous by the time he was done. Anuj kissed her forehead and holding her hand he walked downstairs with the love of his life proudly.

Meera hugged Anu as soon as she came down and kissed her forehead saying “tum itni jaldi kyun uth gayi bacha? Thora aur so leti, kal kitna thak gayi thi tum meri jaan..”

Anu felt overwhelmed and hugged Meera tight saying “I love you mumma, I’m so lucky to have you in my life..”

Meera kissed her forehead and said with a sweet smile “lucky to hum hain meri gudiya.. acha chalo both of you have to pray together today..”

Seeing the whole family walk towards the prayer room the remaining relatives couldn’t help feeling jealous of Anu's luck. A lot of them wanted their own daughters to become the Kapadia’s daughter in law were just helpless knowing that they couldn’t even say anything bad about Anu if they didn’t want to be destroyed. They all kept quiet since none of them wanted to face Anurag’s wrath knowing how much he adored Anu.
