With Bigg Boss 19 set to premiere on August 30 on Jio Hotstar, excitement is building not only around the extended season but also around the changes behind the scenes. According to a report by Indian Express, the latest edition of the reality show will follow a digital-first format, with episodes streaming on OTT before airing on television.

This shift in strategy is reportedly accompanied by a tighter overall budget. Unlike previous high-production seasons, Bigg Boss 19 will not be mounted on a large financial scale. Instead, the makers are focusing on content and engagement, tailoring the format to suit online viewers.

Despite the show’s cost-cutting approach, Salman Khan continues to command a strong presence. As per Indian Express, the superstar will be hosting the first three months of the five-month-long season, after which a rotating panel of guest hosts is expected to take over. Names like Farah Khan, Karan Johar, and Anil Kapoor have been considered for the remaining duration.

Salman’s reported remuneration for this season ranges between Rs 120 to 150 crores, spread across 15 weeks. This breaks down to an estimated Rs 8 to 10 crores per weekend. While that is still a significant amount, it marks a decrease compared to previous television-only seasons where Salman had allegedly charged Rs 250 crores for Bigg Boss 18 and Rs 200 crores for Bigg Boss 17. However, his current fee is higher than the Rs 96 crores he reportedly received for Bigg Boss OTT 2, indicating a mid-point adjustment that reflects both digital reach and a shared hosting format.

A source also informed Indian Express that the show’s promo, which revolves around a political theme, was shot by Salman on July 21 in a marathon schedule from 2 PM to midnight.

As anticipation builds, the combination of a trimmed production budget, digital-first release, and Salman’s continued association promises a fresh spin on the Bigg Boss franchise this season.
