Mahua Moitra married Pinaki Misra in Germany. The couple opted for a simple ceremony with close family and friends. For her marriage, she chose a Benarasi saree from Raw Mango, one of the best known brands for Indian handlooms. She wore a custom-made Parigul sari in pale pink Benarasi brocade. It was woven with silk and real zari with rani pink Meenakari work. She paired it with a Gulshera blouse, in satin silk. The saree was woven in the Kadwa technique. This season, we have seen Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Janhvi Kapoor and others stun in exquisite creations of Benarasi weavers. Mahua Moitra’s choice supported India’s handloom artisans’ community.

The lady who is from Krishnanagar Constituency often wears sarees woven by the weavers of the district. As we know, West Bengal has a huge weaving community specialising in cotton and silk sarees. When she was campaigning in 2019, she wore full sleeved white cotton blouses. It was her trademark look. Mahua Moitra wears handloom sarees even in the Parliament.
