Veteran actor Kamal Haasan has extended a personal note to filmmaker Mani Ratnam on the latter’s birthday, highlighting a creative relationship that spans decades. The message arrives at a time when both are set to collaborate once again on the upcoming film Thug Life.
Taking to his official X account, Kamal Haasan shared a monochrome photo that captured a candid moment between the two artists. While Kamal leans forward across a table, Mani Ratnam is seated with a relaxed posture, both exchanging smiles that hint at shared understanding and long history.
In his post, Kamal wrote:
"Happy Birthday, Mani Ratnam. From Nayakan to Thug Life, we’ve journeyed through time together — as colleagues, family, co-dreamers, and above all, as lifelong students of cinema. Through every chapter, your presence has been a source of strength — a mind I turn to in moments of doubt, and a soul deeply attuned to the language of film like few others. May your stories keep unfolding, for with every frame, your vision brings depth, beauty, and meaning to cinema. Forever your friend, Kamal Haasan."

The musical score is being composed by A.R. Rahman, continuing his long-standing association with Mani Ratnam.
Thug Life is set for a theatrical release across multiple languages on June 5, 2025. As anticipation builds, the reunion of Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam serves as one of the key talking points around the film.
