Kajol, who is currently promoting her upcoming horror film Maa, opened up about a personal moment she shared with her husband, actor-producer Ajay Devgn. In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, the actress recalled Ajay expressing admiration for her ability to balance the many roles in her life.
Kajol remembered Ajay telling her, “You are so lucky. You don’t know how lucky you are. You are Nysa’s friend. You’ll be a grandmother someday. You are a mother. You’ve been my wife. You’ve handled all of this so naturally. You didn’t even have to try. But today, as a man, I have to make an effort to be all these things.” She further added, “From childhood, women are taught to adapt. That’s why it comes to us more easily.”
Kajol’s latest project Maa is backed by Devgn Films and directed by Vishal Furia. The film, which also stars Ronit Roy, Indraneil Sengupta, and Surjyasikha Das, is set to release on June 27. It marks a rare venture into the horror genre for the actress, who admitted she never expected to do a film of this kind. “I am genuinely excited. It’s been a while since my film hit theatres, and this one is special. I never thought I’d do a horror film, but the script was strong. Plus, I’ve always loved mythological themes, and this story connects with that interest,” she said.
In a separate conversation with ANI, Kajol spoke about collaborating with Ajay professionally. She praised his involvement in the project, calling him a “hands-on producer.” “He’s deeply involved in everything—from the script to music and VFX. Especially with the VFX, which plays a big role in this film, he’s paid attention to every detail. It’s a whole different challenge shooting with that level of technicality,” she noted.
While the spotlight has been on Kajol’s return to the big screen with a genre she hasn’t explored before, her candid comments about family dynamics and gender roles added a deeper layer to her film promotions.
