Promises SS part 7 page 9 ENDING - Page 2

This is going to be a three shot as I have written a lot more than I was supposed to or maybe a tiny short story but here is part II.

Part II

Mehek paced in lounge waiting for Shaurya to come home. She heard the key turning at the door and quickly stood up.

"He will think I was waiting for him She ran towards the steps and her leg caught on the carpet, Mehek cried out loudly and fell onto the floor. Shaurya dropped his bag on the floor and came to her side.

"What were you doing he asked her angrily Mehek blinked as a tear ran down her cheek, he looked away from her and picked her up gently, he placed her on the couch and touched her leg. Mehek hissed in pain, at his light touch. He looked at her and frowned.

"You sprained it luckily, I will strap it up. What were you trying to do? He asked her his eyes filled with anger. Mehek's lip trembled.

And she refused to answer him. He cursed under his breath. As Mehek hickuped and cried.

Tears rolled down her cheeks, the room was blur.

As she felt him strap her ankle.

He pushed a tablet into her mouth and held a glass of water, Mehek took it, her hands shook.

She took a sip, and hiccupped again.

Shaurya picked her up, Mehek held his shoulders as he carried her to their room. He placed her gently on the bed, He lowering her and slowly pulling his hands away. Mehek could not look away from him. He leaned in his mouth was inches from her neck, his eyes closed and he inhaled.

He opened them and glared at her.

Stepping away.

Mehek felt a tear run down her cheek. He looked away and turned to leave, Mehek grabbed his hand.

"Please She begged. He pulled his hand away.

"Don't touch me He said, walking towards the door.

"I am going out He said going to his closet. Mehek trembled, where was going? Was he going to see another girl?

"And I am supposed to stay here alone? Mehek asked.

"Yes

"What if I wanted to go out as well? Mehek asked.

"You will not go anywhere without my permission, and as it is you are injured. Just sleep He said, Mehek could not sleep, not knowing where he was going.

"May I know where you are going His face twisted into a bitter smile.

"No you may not With that he left.

That night Mehek did not sleep at all, nor the rest of the nights for that week.

Mehek heard the phone ring. She went to it and held it to her ear.

"Hello She whispered, she had not spoken to anyone besides Shaurya since they had come to New York.

"Mehek A soft familiar female voice said.

"Niki? Mehek recognised her voice.

"How are you Mehek? She asked her, Mehek was unsure what to say.

"I am good She replied.

"Congratulations, I can't believe you too got married, but in collage, Vicky and I always knew you two would end up married. You would never eat without waiting for Shaurya Niki said laughing. Mehek felt her eyes prick, Shaurya never even looked at her these days. She was far too embarrassed to tell her the truth.

"I am sorry we did not invite you, it was sudden Mehek said.

"Hmm that's ok, I was wondering if you would like to catch up, I am in New York for a nurses summit, and I phoned Shaurya first and he said he was too busy, then I decided to phone his house and see if I could at least see you Mehek sighed. Niki knew nothing of their fight.

She would make sure she did not know anything either.

"Sure where should we meet? Mehek asked her.

She gave her an address Mehek wrote down.

If Shaurya could go out and stay out how ever late he wanted so could she.

Mehek felt Shaurya's hand on her wrist.

His fingers tightened over the silver bangles on her wrist.

"You wear them all the time Mehek smiled at his words.

"I can't take them off, you don't know my khadoos boyfriend. He will fight with me

"Hmm really maybe you should leave him and run away with me he joked pulling her close.

"No. I would never leave him He took her hand kissed her fingers, making her blush.

"He would never leave you either He said smirking.

Mehek felt a hand on her waist.

"Shaurya I told you I don't like being so close Mehek whined.

"Yes but I am doctor, doctors are allowed to touch

"Perv She said pushing his hand away.

Mehek saw Ajay coming towards them and felt, Shaurya's hand tighten on her waist.

"To what do I owe the displeasure? He asked him, pulling Mehek against him and resting his chin on her shoulder.

"Marks are out, you are first again Khanna He said somewhat bitterly, Mehek smiled at Shaurya who did not seem interested in the least bit.

"Congratulations Shaurya She told him.

"Thank you bambi He said.

"You know couples showing affection are not permitted Ajay said, looking at them weirdly. Shaurya let Mehek go and stood aside.

Then took her hand and lead her outside the gate which was a meter away and pulled her back into his arms.

Ajay exhaled and walked away.

"Why doesn't he like you so much? Mehek asked, Shaurya shrugged.

"He can't stand that there is someone out there that looks better than him, scores better marks than him, and has a girlfriend a pretty as you He said pushing her hair behind her ear.

"You are so full of yourself Mehek told him laughing, he smirked.

"When you are perfect, what do you expect He said, Mehek shook her head, she noticed Ajay glaring at them in the distance. But did not tell shaurya.

1 month later.

Mehek had just finished baking a cake in her class and was decorating it, when shadow fell over her, she looked up and saw Ajay standing there, like Shaurya he wore a lab coat.

"Hello Mehek he greeted, Mehek noticed he had applied perfume, she coughed a little as the strong smell was astonishingly overwhelming.

"Are you ok? He asked patting her back, she winced as her eyes watered and took a step away from him.

"I am ok She said giving him a small smile that resembled a grimace.

"I wanted to speak to you please He said, Mehek put down her icing bag.

"Uhm ok, can you wait five minutes I am nearly done She said. Picking it up and doing the last few rosettes.

"It's pretty isn't it She said admiring the blue rosettes she had made.

"It is Ajay said looking at her rather than the cake, Mehek awkwardly looked away/

"What is it you needed? She asked.

"I wanted to apologise about our first meeting he said.

"Oh, uhm that its ok. I already forgot about it She told him with a smile, he looked at her strangely. Mehek felt her phone vibrate and saw Shaurya's name.

What is my girlfriend doing now? S

"Is that all Ajay? She asked him.

"No, I was wondering if we could be friends?

The suggestion surprised her, Mehek wondered if perhaps, he maybe thought that by befriending her, he could become friends with Shaurya.

"Sure she said, he took her hand in his and shook it excitedly.

"You won't regret this He told her, Mehek felt uncomfortable as his both hands' held hers, for a few seconds too long, she looked up and saw Shaurya standing by the door.

She pulled her hand away and went to his side.

"Shaurya...

"Why did you not answer my message? He asked, Mehek felt shocked, he had never spoken to her so angrily before. His eyes blazed with heat.

"Shaurya, you just sent it to me a few minutes ago, I was going to reply...

"No you were busy flirting with that idiot Mehek tried to touch his arm, he moved away from her.

"I told you not to speak to him

"Shaurya, you are taking this the wrong way

"What am I taking the wrong way, my girlfriend is busy not answering my messages talking to another guy! Shaurya kicked the door. Ajay came towards them.

Mehek hugged Shaurya to try and stop him from hitting Ajay.

"Shaurya, you are misunderstanding, I just asked Mehek if we could be friends Ajay said.

"Ajay please just go Mehek cried out. He walked away, slowly. Shaurya pushed her away roughly and went to him, grabbing him by his collar and punched him.

"Stay away from her or I will break every bone in your body

Ajay fell onto the floor, Mehek noticed that at least half the collage was looking. Mehek held Shaurya back from hitting him again.

He grabbed her wrist and dragged her away from the crowd.

"What is wrong with you? Mehek asked him, he cursed loudly and pulled her against him.

"Look you are innocent, you don't understand the way he looks at you. I don't like it He said moving away from her. Mehek tried to touch him he took his lab coat off and started going to his car.

Mehek was unable to keep up with him and he drove off before she could speak to him. Mehek went slowly back into collage and saw Ajay was sitting on a bench holding his jaw.

"I am sorry Ajay She told him and started walking away.

He nodded and Mehek went and got her stuff ready to go home.

1 week later.

Shaurya was with Niki, Mehek could see him speaking to her, his back was to her.

"I will break not just his nose next time, I will break his hands

"Shaurya he is just doing it to make you angry. He tried everything now this is all that's left

"You think I don't know that, he would never look at her, nobody would look at her. From the day she came to collage. Just because she is mine he is doing this... He said, Mehek gasped, what did he mean?

"We both know why Niki said smiling.

"Yeah because she's mi... Mehek did not here the rest. Her chest hurt. Did Shaurya think that she was not pretty, enough?

She walked in a daze towards the water fountain. Ajay saw her and waved. Mehek walked towards him, and he smiled at her.

"Mehek you look very pretty in pink He complimented.

"Do you really think I am pretty? She asked him, he looked confused by her question.

"Of course you are. I would say you are one of the most beautiful girls in the collage

"Are you not saying that just because I am Shaurya's girlfriend? She asked. He shook his head.

"No even if he was not your boyfriend you would still be as beautiful He told her, reaching out and wiping a tear on her cheek.

Mehek hiccupped, and closed her eyes, clearing her blurred vision.

"I want to go home She said wrapping her arms around herself, Ajay placed his hand on her shoulder to help her walk as she stumbled towards the gate.

It was then and there she learned the power Shaurya had over her.

That afternoon, Mehek saw his name on her phone and put it on silent.

She went downstairs and watched her father and mother speaking about how Mansi chachi and Ravi chachu liked to go on little trips and always came back more in love than ever.

She hardly heard them as she sat at the table. She played with her dinner.

"Mehek are you ok, your eyes are red? Her mother asked her, Mehek wiped her eyes as fresh tears, fell.

"Sorry I don't feel so good Mehek said, wiping her eyes. Her father looked at her worried.

"At least eat a little darling Mehek shook her head.

"Papa, I am sorry. I am just not hungry

Mehek went upstairs and put her light on, Shaurya was in her room. Before she could make a noise he grabbed her placing his hand over her mouth.

"Why were you not answering my messages or my calls? He asked, inhaling the scent of her hair. Mehek pushed him away, he had climbed into her window.

"Leave me alone Shaurya. I don't want to see you anymore Mehek said, her voice breaking at the end. His eyes narrowed.

"Why have you decided to date Ajay? He asked her, seething.

"No Mehek cried.

"Mehek is everything ok? Her mother called out from the hall. Mehek looked at Shaurya horrified.

"Tell her yes, or I will tell her who I am

"Yes mom...

"What are you doing inside there? Who are you talking to

"I am just seeing a video on my laptop mom Mehek lied.

"Oh honey, would you like some milk? You never eat anything...

"No thank you

Shaurya reached out and pulled her against him.

Mehek remained silent, yet her body stiffened at his hands that spanned around her waist.

Soon as she heard her mother walk away, Mehek pushed Shaurya away.

"I don't want to hear anything you say. Leave me alone go

"Bambi...

"Get out

Mehek said, going to her bed. Shaurya, sat on the edge of it.

"Tell me why you are angry

"I heard what you said to Niki Shaurya He looked at her confused.

"What did I say?

"I heard how ugly I was and that people only looked at me because I was with you Shaurya looked at her in disbelief then started laughing.

"Laugh all you want, so then I asked Ajay and he said I am pretty without you even Mehek said, making his laughter seize, his eyes hardened.
